  2. Hi Leis, are you confirmed celiac? Sorry to hear you've been dx with MS but have they confirmed it with other tests? I'm not much help really as Im just trying to learn about gluten ataxia myself as Im convinced my son has it although has had negative blood tests. Theres abit of info here from a previous post https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/80936-gluten...
  3. Wolf..yeah I get nausea too..its no fun. At least youre improving now Mw..well I'm not sure what is gluttening me as I'm being careful but then I suppose it takes time to heal and it may all be part if the process. doubt it helps that Ive been making my sons meals. Ah you remembered about my son being scared of needles..well I bought a biocard test...
  4. im fairly new at being 10 wks gluten-free but by week 4, my itchy scalp rash had just about cleared up. by wk 6 my fluctuating eyesight and dry eyes had improved dramatically (i had eye surgery 3 times, 4 yrs ago and last December my optician had made me an appointment for begin of Feb to fit me with glasses! but on the appointment, my vision was back to...
  5. Mw..well dietician is trying to get me confirmed mainly so I can have the uk prescription. I went to a local coeliac conference recently and it sounds like they are always looking at new ways of testing. he said theyre currently looking for people to test by looking at the brain for ataxia (showed photos of differences) ...I half feel like putting myself...

  7. oh thanks; thats ok then...I had a moment of fear thinking I had to go back to eating the bad stuff again. Looks like they want to use the test as confirmation that i have celiac so just hoping its reliable.
  8. thanks shadowicewolf... do you know if we have to be ingesting gluten for testing?
  9. rofl ..yep it would kinda kill the moment! im in same predicament but look on the bright side, at least we have a good excuse for asking them to keep good dental hygeine without them feeling we were nit-picking at em personally !!
  10. is HLA typing..gene testing? and does that mean I have to have my family tested ? thanks
  11. Hi all, I was dx coeliac on 4th January through bloodwork, gluten challenge, symptoms and vitamin deficiencies. (I couldnt tolerate the biopsy). I've just recieved a copy of letter which has gone to my consultant which is asking for a HLA Typing test. I have googled this but am finding it confusing. Do I have to have another test? (ive been gluten...

  13. its interesting you bringing that up...I gave up quorn when I went gluten free about 10 wks ago (because most of the quorn products i bought contained gluten plus I realised the process of quorn!).. but I used to get swollen lymph glands under the chin, in the armpits, and in the groin after eating it ! ...suppose it couldve been a gluten reation but im...
  14. oooh never thought about asking them to stock it..great idea yes, they love to make it difficult for us...as though its not tough enough!.. although i got dx as 98% positive of having coeliac due to blood test, symptoms and gluten challenge...theyve tried twice in the last couple of yrs to give me a biopsy (last time the sedation didnt work) and I just...
  15. hi jp0, thanks but tried it ..must admit it is very good stuff (my finger went numb just putting the cream on and washing it straight off ) yes why indeed do they show them the needle!? they showed him both and said "look youre having the thin small one" duh!!! I've took him 3 times now and used the numbing cream on the last time, he sat patiently...

  21. I've been gluten free for just over 10 weeks and for the last 4 weeks or so have started to feel some benefits. Over the last 3 days I've had griping tummy pain, d and c, extreme tiredness , sickly and achy arms and realised the only thing I've done different is I've been eating a Glutafin loaf of bread...could that really be the culprit? I've just read the...

Ive already explained to him I want to try him gluten free which he got upset about and then said "ok as long as its gradual and I don't know about it"... Because hes not a vegi eater ive been making him smoothies mixed veg/fruit and always a banana for texture and flavour and so far he thinks its just fruit in...
  25. Hi Kamma, Thanks for your very interesting reply. The presentation I went to was really good but somewhat went over my head in parts...you explained it much more clearly. Yes, thats what I was afraid of that the damage to the cerebellum would be irreversible but its scary to think it could be upto a year before seeing improvement as without a proper...
