ARCHIVED Thyroid Medication? Levoxyl Discontinued
VeggieGal replied to Tigercat17's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I take Eltroxin. If you search on here under "levothyroxine" you'll find a list on here i started compiling. My Eltroxin is also having manufacturing problems but ive spoken to them and they also make the generic version exactly the same under Goldshield and MercuryPharma The one I can't have is by Activis which for some reason swells in my throat and effects... -
ARCHIVED Looking For Juicer/blender
VeggieGal replied to Chrissyb's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
yes..in a juicer not a blender. The pineapple skin is what really messed my guts up though and it didnt taste nice but I had a problem with kale too, so maybe its just me whos ultra sensitive because both ingredients are in juicing recipes. -

Hi Karen, yes its good with ice and frozen fruit. Mines just a cheaper supermarket version as well but it works well and is so quick and easy to use and you drink from the tumblers which have lids so can take to work etc and hardly any cleaning! My mums got the Hinari model and she uses it daily. -
Thanks Addy, I'll try what you are doing then and check out the u&c website. Its about time that awareness was out there. I sometimes wonder though if the food industry and health institutes would be able to cope with whats probably the true figures/amount of people out there with celiac. I'll join your crusade too

ARCHIVED Hla Typing
VeggieGal replied to VeggieGal's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
oh i dont know? the dietician just said it was positive. I'll try and get exact results, would be good if they can be interpreted. Was just thinking, that if i'd gone through with biopsy and they took insufficient samples or it was patchy...then I could've had a completely different result...its kinda scary that so many people could be incorrectly un... -
Great idea about putting the awareness banner on facebook. I'll do it too Just wondering though if theres an awareness page than can be shared on there what actually explains what: celiac disease is and caused by symptoms (and not just the standard but also neuro and weight gain as people always assume its just skinny people with stomach issues that...

Hi Chrissy, I don't know about the one you mentioned but I just bought a phillips hr1871 Avance (it was on offer from Jason Vale Juicemaster website). Its sturdy and easy to clean. Bear in mind juicers can't juice some veggies/fruit and you lose some of the fiber from juicing but still a good way of getting vitamins. I was warned from someone on here awhile... -

Could also be your thyroid Jo. I suffer too . Its possible that because I've cut out gluten then I don't need so much levothyroxine anymore so need blood works doing again. I'm currently doing a slow gentle detox and finding ways to de-stress to help support a healthy adrenal function. -

ARCHIVED Scalp Problems?
VeggieGal replied to Dozey's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Maybe you have an allergy to something else. I'm hoping to get some allergy testing done soon. Since being dx with celiac, Im more body aware of other allergies/intolerances which I shrugged off before, so will be good to know for sure. Helen -
ARCHIVED Scalp Problems?
VeggieGal replied to Dozey's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Jo, I've had this problem for about 15 years..it can be really itchy and at first I thought I had headlice! Since going gluten free, it was one of my first symptoms to 'nearly' clear after about 4 weeks. However, if I get gluttened its back! Coffee also seems to aggravate it but unfortunately Im abit of a coffee addict. When I drink herb teas and water... -

ARCHIVED Hashimoto's Syndrome
VeggieGal replied to kcorcoran2013's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Theres no holistic doctors which would deal with this that I know of . In what way do you feel better by adding t3? Although, apparentely my levels are "fine" my symptoms sway from hypo to hyper and I never know what kind of day I'm going to have and some of the symptoms interlink with celiac so its confusing on whether I've been gluttened or not! ARCHIVED Hashimoto's Syndrome
VeggieGal replied to kcorcoran2013's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks pricklypear, I'm in the uk, so not sure if thats possible? but I will certainly look into it When I asked my doctor about it a year ago, (incidentally, I was naughty and i added ft3 and ft4 to the blood test form), he said that all levels were ok and my body was converting to t3. But he never measured rt3 ...oh I don't know, its frustrating !- 31 replies

ARCHIVED Hashimoto's Syndrome
VeggieGal replied to kcorcoran2013's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Gemini, you mentioned that someone who's had their thyroid removed should supplement with T3. I've read this before somewhere, but like you said, getting an endo or doctor to listen is impossible!! So I really don't have a choice and just have to put up with the T4 only- 31 replies
