  1. Hey mg,

This is exactly the ingredient that's keeping me from buying some items at our ultra gourmet food store/health food store Central Market. From some of their fresh made soups to their various versions of tamales, there is this abomination.

I wish they'd make up their mind which one it is. Surely, it's not all three. Sounds like a catch-all statement.

    best regards, lm

I totally agree. Perhaps we should initiate an onslaught of phone calls with this inquiry.

  2. cruelshoes, did you say the US mickey D's grilled chicken contain wheat? Now, I knew of course the breaded one has wheat but the plain grilled chicken now has wheat?

I hope that was a typo error! I was going to get a grilled chicken salad this week...... arrrrrgh.

    thanks

  3. So are mental fog, OCD behavior, and forgetfulness possible symptoms? I have those same things, and I'm going to get tested in March. Does anybody else have these type of mental symptoms and have had a gluten free diet work for them? Good luck!!!

"Brain fog" is a very typical symptom. It's due to malabsorption resulting in vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Please remember to EAT a full GLUTEN diet before testing.

  4. Hello everyone! I am new and I am soo glad I found this board.

I've have been labeled with IBS for years. I always thought it to be something more. Few years ago I had the bloodwork done and came up with one test borderline. I went to a gastro doc who said "You are not skinny or irish" and I left with the IBS label. Another year went by, I tested again all within normal ranges.

So skip to now, 2 years later I get restested and low and behold I come up borderline again. I have diarrhea and a lot of gas. About 2 years ago, I started in with depression and anxiety. I have brain fog and mental confusion and what seems like OCD at times. I thought it was horomonal but I am not sure.

I honestly feel confused and somewhat scared. I've been battling with the IBS for so long it's a way of life for me. Anyone else with borderline results with any advice? I'm not sure if I should get the biopsy done.

I appreciate any answers- thank you. :)

    First of all Welcome,

    This is a great place!

Second, for any doctor (a GI) to dismiss Celiac because you are not skinny or Irish, need to find a new profession.

It would be interesting to know what your test actually were, with a definition of "borderline".

If you are not concerned about having a doctor's diagnoses, I would recommed that you try the diet for a months time. If you do see improvement in your symptoms, a positive dietary response is also considered a diagnosis. Some people do not care about being diagnosed, but feel better not eating gluten.

  5. I did a google search and I do not think this Alexis is Martha's daughter.

Found another web site promoting this contest and it list this person as Alexis Radogost-Givens

and Givens was listed in the credits under her presentation on the video link.

I love our pets and want them well feed too.............but...............if we don't get well and are 'brain fogged' who will feed our precious little pets.

I have been voting on different polls at differnt sites............so hope it's not considered 'stuffing' by c.com

EDIT------- JUST CHECKED AND IT'S A TIE AT 37% PETS AND US. :D:D

Just as I thought! This Alexis is rather pretty and she looks very nice, rather than that "other one". ;)

  6. I wasn't on here for a few days and when I come back I find the threads are all different. Do I have to click on each one of them to read it? Is there a different way to view them because I find this so frustrating I don't hardly read them now. I don't want to have to click on each post in a thread to read it. I actually find this to be a very difficult way to view the board and now I barely come here because of it.

Look in your right upper corner and click on "Options", then onto "Standard". That should bring you back.

    Edit: Yeah, what she said.

  7. Hello I am new to this site and also newly diagnosed, It took many doctors and many years of pain and confusion to finally find out what was wrong with me. I would greatly appreciate any and all information on this disease as I am just starting to realize how difficult it will be. I am still in pain and was wondering if anyone can tell me how long they continued to have pain after they were diagnosed. I also suffer from chronic neck pain due to hierniated disks. I have also had a lot of lower back pain and osteoarthritis. Does anyone else feel the back pain?

    masz

    Welcome,

You have found a wonderful site to learn all that you need to know about Celiac.

The average diagnosis time is eleven years. You are in good company here.

The diet can certainly be overwhelming. But, good words of advise is to start simple. Simple, meaning meat, fish, rice, potatoes, fresh veggies, and fruit. No processed foods for a while. You can add food items a little at a time and more so when you have mastered the art of label reading.

A new toaster is a must, old wooden spoons and cutting boards should be replaced. Gluten can hide everywhere. That way you avoid contaminating your food with pre-celiac utensils.

Undiagnosed Celiac can lead to some unfortunate issues, but many have found that eliminating gluten from their diet, their issues have reversed themselves, or in the least improved. I doublt that the gluten free diet can help your disk issues, but it may very well help with the others.

This is a great site. Take some time to walk around.

  8. It may take some time before you really feel the effects of the gluten free diet. You have to remember, that it took time for the damage of occur and likewise, it will take some time for the healing.

The gluten free diet is very complex in the beginning as you are finding out. The learning curve is very steep.

Have you gotten a new toaster, new cutting surfaces, new wooded spoons, replaced you scratched pots and pans. Check you toiletries and all supplements for gluten.

Although some of Amy's are gluten free, it still is manufactured in a facility that processes wheat. Some people here have reacted to some of Amy's products.

Patience and diligence will help you along your way. Good luck.
