  2. Depending on the area of the country you are living....feed hay varies.

If she is just taking lessons, she should be okay. If she is grooming, she should have a mask(dust and dander). Because they LOVE to roll around in the grass where many before have pooped.

If she is feeding, she should use gloves and wash up after feeding.

We've had horses for many years and it can be done.Extra precautions need to be made. But it can't replace the love of horses and the great love they bring us. ;)

    With precautions, I would think it's a go. B)

    Enrichment

Over 70% of the white rice consumed in the United States is enriched. Rice naturally contains thiamin, niacin, and iron. However, during the milling process, the quantities of these nutrients are reduced. To bring the nutritional value of the milled product up to that of whole grain (brown), rice is enriched with thiamin, niacin, and iron. All enriched rice is additionally fortified with folic acid. The fortification of folic acid in all enriched grain-based products became law in January 1998. Enrichment levels of these nutrients, which are specified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, provide for a minimum of 2 milligrams thiamin, 13 milligrams iron, 16 milligrams niacin, and 0.7 milligrams folic acid per pound of raw rice.

The enrichment mixture is applied to rice as a coating. Therefore, it is recommended that rice not be rinsed before or after cooking and not be cooked in excessive amounts of water and then drained. The enrichment and other water-soluble vitamins and minerals would be lost.

Six states have laws that require enrichment of all milled rice: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, New York, and South Carolina. However, enriched rice is readily available in all states.

I have been thinking of joining Sam's club because I go through so much fruit and rice etc. Is this a good value? Is it cheaper than Walmart? I have a problem shelling out the 50 bucks to join. Any thoughts?

There is a thread in the archives about what people buy at Sam's Club.

I know that this is old, but since it was brought up here I'll post here. I was intrigued by the idea that Cheetos are all made without gluten but only certain ones are gluten free. I jumped over to their website and saw this confirmed. In the listing, all are listed as "made without gluten ingredients" but only the naturals ones are "gluten free." This led me to email the company and I surprisingly got a quick response, which is what I expected. Any labeled as gluten free are tested, the others are not and share equipment. This is the email I got back:

    Hi Heidi,

Thank you for contacting us about gluten free snacks.

Many of our snacks have always been made with gluten free ingredients and we appreciate the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

The snacks on our gluten free list have undergone rigorous testing to ensure that there has been no cross contamination and contain less than 20 parts per million of gluten. This is the standard set by the FDA’s 2007 Proposed Rule For Gluten-Free Labeling. Certain ingredients are also tested prior to being delivered to our plants.

Gluten is treated as an allergen in our manufacturing facilities. It may be helpful to know that we run non-seasoned chips first. The lines are thoroughly cleaned between seasoned runs that contain allergens and gluten, to prevent cross contamination. A complete sanitation is done before the non-seasoned chips are run again.

The snacks that do not contain gluten ingredients, do not have wheat rye, barley or oats in their formula, however, they have not been tested to ensure they contain less than 20 parts per million of gluten.

You'll find our regularly updated lists in the "Your Health" section of www.fritolay.com, under "For Special Dietary Needs."

Frito-Lay will continue to provide the information you need to make snacking both safe and enjoyable.

    Happy snacking!

    Best regards,

    Belinda

Hopefully this clears up any confusion about it. Personally, since I stay away from shared equipment I guess I'm stuck with the naturals. We'll see though, I haven't tried any yet so I may be fine with the regular ones. I'm just a little too skeptical to try yet.

Thank you for your response and the update. :D

  6. I'm not too familiar with your experiences. But, when exchanging masks, clean wipe might eliminated some shared lipstick of lip balm, near your mouth.

Maybe others can recommend a brand that is suitable.

I would be surprised to know of any antibacterial-wipe would contain any gluten. Think of gluten as a "crumb" not as a "bacteria or virus", although it might affect us as if it were. B)

  7.

Cheetos are not gluten free. They just are made with no gluten ingredients. The natural cheetos are completely gluten free. I react to Crunchy Cheetos, but I don't to natural Cheetos

What makes you think that Cheeetos are not gluten free? If they do not have gluten ingredients, that would make them gluten free. :D

And please bear in mind, that you have responded to a thread that is over six years old. Product information changes.

So I've been looking for a facial moisturizer and Burts Bees said to contact them for the gluten free status of certain products... This was the response I got:

"Thank you for contacting Burt's Bees.

While we can identify products in which we do not use raw materials containing gluten, we cannot certify that our vendors did not process these ingredients on equipment where contamination could occur. For the most accurate source of information, please refer to the list of ingredients on our website or on the product.

Our Hand Sanitizer and all of our Sensitive Skin products are gluten free.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

    Sincerely,

I've just heard a lot about how good this company is...should I not worry about it? Or is it back to the drawing board?

Burt's Bee's has been bought by another company, who is much more guarded with disclosures. Many people use their products successfully. I have.

As it stands now, I leave Poland on June 19th to go back to the States. Will have almost 6 weeks at my mother's house (this is a good thing) to rest and try to get some energy back. Then I have my appointment with Dr. Fasano on July 31st and we'll see what he says and then move forward accordingly.

    Sounds like a GREAT plan!

I just got a phone call from Reily Foods the parent company for Luzianne tea. A nice lady on the phone told me that she researched the tea and bags and they are both gluten and corn free. They said that was misinformation - the bags do not contain any corn starch or corn.

I just wanted to put this out there incase anyone else reads this.

I think i'll stick with loose tea..I bought some and a neat little tea ball too! In a pinch Luzianne will be ok too.

Glad you found your answer. :)

I was so disappointed with the response I received from Hidden Valley Ranch regarding the source of the maltodextrin in their ranch seasoning and dip mix. I thought I would share for those who might be interested:

    "Dear Mrs. W------,

Thank you for contacting us about our Hidden Valley Salad Dressing Mix.

As is the case with many companies, the specific ingredients of our formula are proprietary.

I am sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Again, thank you for contacting us.

    Sincerely,

Did you know: Kids eat more vegetables when they come with Ranch Dressing. "

Take another approach, when contacting companies. Ask if their Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing is gluten free, and what is there allergen policy. I expect their answers will be a bit more fluid.

I buy it all the time, after I read the label. :)

  12. When an ingredient is developed into starch, it's pretty highly processed. You may or may not be ok with a tea bag. It might be worth a try, but of course, that's your choice. :)

But, I don't have corn issues and therefore my ears are not hearing information.

Loose tea is always better, IMHO.

  13.

Well, from what I was told ..the material in tea bags contain corn starch. Someone correct me if I am wrong please. I have 3 big boxes of Luziane tea that say gluten free on the box. I am worried about the bag since I heard this. Hopefully I am wrong!!

Try to call the 1-800 number on the box.
