Did anyone see the article today? Chicago AP
"People on popular preseciption heartburn drugs -- Prilosec, Prevacid and Nexum -- seem more prone to getting a potentialy dangerous diarrhea caused by the bug Clostridium Difficile, new research show. C-diff, as it's known, can cause severe dirrhea and crampy intertinal inflammation called colitis.
Something to think about???

This is a great step forward. But as you look at the new labeling, be wary as it will not list barey, rye, oats which are the other glutens that Celiacs may not have....it will only list "wheat".
Change is comming, slowing, but I can see the successes. I am grateful and pleased as I have seen many national news coverage regarding food allergies. GOOD NEWS
Keep on keeping on.

If you can not have them in your house, or for youself to enjoy......pass them on to Staff at your local Nursing home, your doctors office, the staff at your local food pantry, or check with your local Social Services and ask about a family on their records who would enjoy a special gift from you to their family.
This is sorta a "pay-it-forward" kinda gift. There are alot of places where it will be appreciated.
Merry Christmas

First of all for those of you who do not have the Delfi List of Gluten Free Product (listed by named brands), you need to have this downloaded onto your computer.
Second, I spend about an hour and half at the grocery store. It has come to one of the things that I enjoy, because it is a challange. I read and read. Only through education, will we get through this. There are actually so many things that we can have that are gluten free. I know that many of you do not have to time to dedicate for shopping. I am fortunate to do so.
I am a firm believer in McCormicks seasonings. I still read the lables because it is too much to inject into this brain fogged mind, to remember many of the items that I have seen on this site. I love seasoned foods and I feel that I cook fairly well.
McCormicks Seasonings
LaChoy Soy Sauce
Tamari (wheat Free) - the best
Emerils (some gluten-free)
Annie's Roasted Pepper Salad Dressing..........are all my staples for good cooking
Tonight's Dinner: Beef Stew with Liptons Onion Dry Mix, beef, carrotts and potatoes. Salad on the side.
I love the grocery store.........it's like a treasure hunt...challenging and a learning experience combined.

B-12 has done wonderful things for me. When first D I was taking a shot once a week, now once a month. It really helps when I get the shakes in my hands and muscles.
At 51 and post med. I most likely could use the testotos. and would make the home life a little more cuddley. That's a question for all of us over-the-hill broads. I ha ve been on sooo much medicine in the resent past and now that I am not on soooo much...........room for thought

Don't worry. Celiac Disease is not a life sentence, it is a life style change. That change in your hand. No pills, no surgery, just simply, a diet change.
I won't elaborate here as there are many on this forum that are about your age and many other who develope Celiac Disease after childbirth.
I'm sure that they will be very helpful to you now.
For now, keep your food intake simple. Search this site for recipies, lotions, lipstick, shampoos (that can get in your mouth)
This is a time to study this site and ask as many questions of us as you need. There is a national phrase that is often used, "Celiacs Helping Celiacs".
There is most definately a time to adjust with many emotions, but we are here to help. All you need to do is ask.
Other relies will come.
Best of luck

Make sure that you take someone with you who will convey the conversation from the Gastro. Dr. I did not remember anything including lunch afterwards with my husband. I asked him for three days what the Dr. told him.
If your attendee is like my husband, ask them to take notes for you to refer to later. I slept it off for the remainder of the day. It was kind of nice to sleep in the middle of the day and have a legitimate reason for it. My children not my husband bothered me. That was a short gift.
I did have a sore throat for several days, but no big deal.
OOPS....I guess that I am a day short..
Anyways, I hope you have found some answers and you will begin to feel better soon.

Thanks for all your replies. I have no issue with Balsamic Vineg., just the dressing in restaurants. I have found out that many use soy sauce in their sauces/dressings. I will stop ordering this in the place that I go to lunch.
I now bring my own dressing. I can make a better dressing than I can get in a restaurant anyways.

Thanks, I'll put this in my file and pass this on to a new local member.

I know that you can take a tax deduction since it is a medically required diet. Documentation is pretty hard to keep up with. You can deduct the gas it takes if you have to go out of town to find specific foods and you can deduct the difference in the price cost of gluten free foods vs. regular foods in the same category.
It would be a pain in the neck for me to keep up with it all and I would not to send up flags for a possible audit.
To answer you question this is not a grant, but a tax deduction. I don't know whether it is worth the time and effort.
I found this information on this site's home page (just scroll down).
Any other imput? I believe I am correct, if not chime in.

The worst of your issue is your anxiety. The proceedure is nothing and you most likely will not remember anything. Please bring someone who can relay to you what the dr. said. Ask them to write it down as you will not remember
I know that you have do drink, or take pills to clear out your bowls. That will be the worst
Don't worry, you are on the road to healing and to define your issues. Look forward to it.
To define an health issue, is on the road to healing.
Good luck, let us know how you are.

Why not soak your own and have plenty for other conconctions later. Beans are beans.
Go to the Hanover site an check their website. They have great information.

Let me add...........
When I read a post and go to back, it brings me back the the "click on message board", and not to the new forum site. I may be doing something wrong, but it seems to be changed. Those that make sense??

Heather:
I am certainly not an expert at this, but when I am "glutened" I try to drink plenty of water. What you have ingested is already there. Plenty of water will counter the "Big D" issue that comes for most of us with gluten. It will keep you hydrated. What is going to happen will happen
Some times you just have to let it take it's course. It may take a day or three or even more to feel better and it will be different from one person to the next. Keep Hydrated as that will create other issues.
Hope this will help
-
Well...if you are sure of the ingrediance, let's goggle them up. You and me.
But maybe others with chime in.
-
Molly , I don't know, but I sure do love it. I suspect that it may be gluten-free, but can't verify for you. It is imported and I have not looked at one recently and am not even sure that it will list the ingrediances.
Hope we can find out, I would love to have one (a whole one all to myself)

You can also search this site for shampoo's, face creams, chapstick (substituted), adult drinks and much more. Click on to search and they will pop up.
Hope this is helpful.

If your lifestye and obligations are getting out of hand, your diet is causing you stress, work schedule and bathroom issuestraffic delays and no bathroom, all causes stress,I would not look the other way about looking into an anti-depresant.
I resisted this for a long time. I reluctantly filled the prescription. I could not have made a better choice for"me". It turn out to be a good thing for me. I cannot attest to others
I am not advocating this, but just stating that I am very pleased with the result that I have had.
I hope that this will be helpful to someone.
