ARCHIVED Hello New Here Have A Few Questions
Lisa replied to minidobie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Along with Celiac, many of us were diagnosed with Gastritis, Reflux caused by or because of a Hiatus Hernia. It's common. Both, as well as other ailments can attribute to some gagging. I expect that too will fade away. And oh! I forgot my manners..........WELCOME! -

Lisa replied to Darwin's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
OOOh, here is a good one! Speaking of beans.... Empty two cans of Hanover Black Eyed Peas in a baking (8x8) dish. Layer Chopped onions on the top Layer mostly cooked bacon Add Four Chicken Thighs and season with Garlic Salt and Pepper Throw it in the oven until chicken is browned. ... so easy and delicious. I usually double this and put it... -
ARCHIVED Question About First Visit With Doctor
Lisa replied to Menqet's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi and welcome!!! If you have been gluten free for "several days", it should not mess up your result as long as it's done in a timely manner. Yes, the optimum for testing would be a full diet of gluten. I would request a full Celiac Panel ( I will include that at the end of this post). As well, request a full Metabolic Panel, to check on any deficiencies... -
I've noticed this on the east coast for several weeks now. It's so nice to hear and look up. Hope the momentum will hold!

Ok! Called out... Worked on Capital Hill in my pre married years. Worked with all the cogs that keep a small town rollin' (especially historic preservation). And raised two semi-well adjusted daughters without a college debt! And grandmother of the special one! ...my first, as you may know!

What do you do? It's so fascinating who walks with us, but in so many different ways. Without offering too much personal information, what do you do for a career, a passion, a volunteer, a home maker......

ARCHIVED Celiac's In Addition To A Wheat Allergy?
Lisa replied to KristinL's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Kristen! And welcome!!! I would suggest that you get a Celiac Blood Panel as soon as possible. It's recommended that you remain on a full gluten diet, for the optimum in accuracy in testing. You may have a wheat allergy in addition to Celiac. But, allergy testing will not tell you that you have Celiac Disease. -

Please google: Autism and Celaic, and ADD or ADHA and Celiac. There is a tremendous amount of information of good character out there, that can help you. Make copies and supply them to the school. Tell your "teacher" that you are removing gluten from her diet, through medical advice. And supply the snacks. It has been well documented that removing gluten, aids children with ADD and Autism. -

Lisa replied to jazzbaby's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I began EARLY-menopause at age 35 and it lasted for ten years +. Hot flashes were the last symptoms to develop and last to leave. (but I still throw the covers off in the middle of the night, at 56). I was diagnosed at 50. Early in my 50's, any dairy or wine sulfates would result in wild hot flashes, to the point where I had to leave the room,...
