  1. I used the app Find Me Gluten-Free and it looks like there is a PF Changs and Melting Pot. There is also Jules Gluten Free which is a dedicated gluten-free business. I have never been to theses particular locations, but check out the app
  2. i like to consider myself well versed in constipation remedies When I used to try and take Exlax pre-gluten free, it didn't relieve my C but instead it gave me super intense gas and curl around the base of the toilet pain which included nausea, but I don't think I ever actually threw-up. Dulcolax used to be my go to, but it's always amazing to me how different...
  3. saw on Facebook that Ulta is now also carrying Pacificia products
  4. welcome, aclcs322! You are correct, you are not IgA deficient based on your results. With your daughter having celiac disease, that should be a red flag to your health care provider. I'm in a similar situation as you except my DGP IgG was positive, and my TTG IgG was negative. I am a normal IgA producer and all of my IgA results were negative. All...
  5. welcome, Pickled! I'm so glad your doctor did not automatically dismiss celiac despite the negative gene test. ravenwoodglass is a firmly diagnosed double DQ9 celiac. I am also negative for both DQ2 and DQ8, but I do have one copy of DQ9. Open Original Shared Link
  6. thanks for posting, Lisa! I read this study the other week and liked this part: "One possible explanation of the persistence of antibodies against dGP despite complete removal of gluten from the diet is the presence of T-cell clones that have evolved antigen independence and continue to stimulate dGP antibody-secreting plasma cells.[24] This phenomenon...
  7. thanks, Irish Not sure if you saw this in another post I made, but in non-dating news, my parents have finally come around!! My Mom surprised me the other week and informed me that she and my Dad were slowly going to finish up their gluten products in their kitchen and replace them with gluten-free products. I almost fell out of my chair when she...
  8. so I don't plan on updating this after every single date, but the second dinner date on Saturday with the guy who called to check around at restaurants, went really well! We walked outside, ate dinner and he might have purposefully ordered the same, exact thing as me, so when we walked outside again after dinner, this time I couldn't say "oh I can't kiss...
  9. I've always been an oatmeal girl, but unfortunately at this point, I cannot eat oats even certified gluten-free one. I loved the texture of oatmeal, and that it was always eaten warm. I tried Bob's Red Mill Brown Rice Hot Cereal, but even though it is labeled gluten free, it didn't sit well with me. I agree that Lundberg is a great brand! I ended...
  10. I've had them, and they are great! Teachers in my building love them, so they'd be a great snack to have on hand whether guests are gluten-free or not
  11. I was able to get the fecal elastase done, but I had to give another sample Yesterday I had a follow-up appointment for the fat malabsorption tests and was hoping they'd have the elastase results, but the results hadn't been reported yet. He admitted that when I called and asked for the test he had to look it up because he had never ordered it for a patient...
  12. make sure to ask for copies of all of your results, and then you can post them here for others to comment. I was negative on the EMA and TTG IgA but had a strong positive on the DGP IgG. My GI didn't seem to think it was too bad, but fast forward a year and now he's said at my last two appointments he believes my damage is further down where a traditional...
  13. hi flowerqueen, I was diagnosed with GERD and a medium sized hiatal hernia during my endo. When I went gluten-free my reflux got a lot better. I did read a fantastic book called Why Stomach Acid is Good for You and would definitely recommend it!! This book had a lot of good reasons to stay away from PPIs and more natural remedies to help digestion...
  14. thought I'd share this article from today: Open Original Shared Link
  15. so last night I met a guy for drinks and had a good time and good conversation. we were talking about favorite drinks, and when he was talking about beer, I used that opportunity to say I drink wine because I have celiac disease. He knew what it was, and we talked about it briefly and then moved on and talked for another hour or so. Both of my dates this...
  16. I'd recommend trying a magnesium supplement or liquid glycerin without any added stimulant before taking any type of stimulant laxative. I was a big C sufferer, and I've found that for me those are the most effective without putting any harsh chemicals into my body. Hope you feel better soon!!
  17. The chicken teriyaki is definitely not, and I'm a big fan of that one! The lemongrass, I don't think so but it's been awhile since I've had that one. The Thai style chicken curry definitely is. I wanted to try the Thai one and I checked my local Target three times, but it was never in stock. I finally found it when I went to visit family this past weekend...
  18. thanks for all the info!
  19. I started another thread about diabetes because I find it confusing Not sure if this will help: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/106575-type-1-vs-type-2-diabetes-differences-needed-in-simple-terms/ cyclinglady, my fasting level was also 100 in February, but the GI didn't bring it up. I get all my test results online. That blood was taken...
  20. I needed to come back and update this thread. It's almost been one year since I've been gluten-free (3/10), and my family was extreeeeeeemely resistant to it. I remember starting this thread and being so upset, but I almost fell out of my chair the other week when my Mom and Dad told me they are going to slowly clean out their kitchen of gluten things and...
  21. snow day in Delaware! We were projected to get a lot more snow than we actually did. Since it's such a tiny state, it tends to be either the whole state shuts down or is open. Today it's a state of emergency, and everything is closed. Winter has always been my favorite season, and I love snow. I love going outside when it's actually snowing and...
  22. If you haven't tried the Evol product line, I definitely recommend them! They are frozen products that taste great and are decent for you. They make burritos, quesadillas, individual meals and their newest addition are skillet meals for two. Target sells a lot of their products, and I've seen exclusive varieties that are only sold at Whole Foods. I've...
  23. I already had plans for this past weekend, and it's another busy week, so we're going out again next Saturday I'm going to a chain in the Philadelphia area called Iron Hill. I went to the one in West Chester this weekend as a test run, and no ill effects!! I previously had another date planned for Tuesday with a different guy, so we'll see how that goes...
  24. thanks for the explanations!! Since I've been reading about pancreatic insufficiency, I was talking with a friend and explaining it, and she asked the question that if one has pancreatic insufficiency and their pancreas is not fully functioning, wouldn't you think that could lead to diabetes? It seemed to make sense to me, so I started reading about...
  25. so i'll start with I know Type 1 is autoimmune and Type 2 isn't but after reading various literature, I'm still confused between how you get diagnosed with the different types. Even though Type 1 is common in children, it can be diagnosed anytime in life, correct? Type 2 is reversible, but Type 1 isn't? Can anyone explain to me the differences between...
