  1. No - why would I? I'm a little glad that while my Celiac hadn't gotten really bad before being diagnosed, it had gotten bad enough that I saw what kind of trouble I was headed for if I continued eating gluten. I never want to see my body breaking down like that again.
  2. On a regular basis, maybe 30 minutes? For a fancy restaurant and a special night out, about an hour.
  3. Make sure that the GO Picnics you get are the Gluten Free ones - I was excited to see some at an airport until I realized they weren't gluten-free versions. As others have said, San Francisco should be easy. I imagine Sweden also won't be too bad, but I'd bring some things just in case. Most Swedes speak decent English. When I've traveled overseas...
  4. Can't wait to try it. Thanks.
  5. Does anyone know if the 'standard' way of preparing these might be gluten-free? I went with my mother to a local take out place near her house yesterday, and she ordered these (I had a soda) and they honestly looked like the best spare ribs I've ever seen. (I used to love spare ribs when I was younger). I tried to ask the clerk what was in the sauce...
  6. Does anyone else have trouble with these? They are Certified gluten-free and I don't have any problem with the regular Blue Diamond gluten-free crackers, but this is the second time I've reacted badly to these. I don't really know if it's a glutening or not (but since they're Certified, I'm guessing not), maybe it's one of the seeds? I eat a lot of nuts...
  7. Hi - Can anyone recommend safe mouthwash to use? I prefer the more medicinal ones (like original Listerine) vs. the minty, but at this point, I'd like to hear all recommendations. Are all mouthwashes (?) gluten-free? I haven't used one since my Celiac DX, but would like to start again. Thanks.
  8. What are these? You use them in a regular (gluten) toaster?
  9. What is the "codex" wheat thing everyone is talking about? Is that the little circle with the wheat stalk and gluten-free in it?
  10. Ok - I was in the same store today and I see that the patties were Murray's brand. I've bought other things from them before and not had a problem, so I can't say for sure it was them -- or, as someone else said, maybe it was the seasonings. Was it the same ones?
  11. I'll try and check on the name of the brand and post back. I've always wondered how I got glutened by this, but if yours was the same that might explain it.
  12. I get this sometimes, but the episodes only last 5 minutes or so. Just my palms. Can't really connect them to anything, but it's weird.
  13. Sabra is fine. I love it - the only danger from it is higher calories than most hummus, and 'richer', so if you have difficulty with chickpeas, as I do - a little goes a long way, If you know what I mean. I find the Tapaz 'kits' handy but I don't love the hummus, feels too oily for me and there's never enough crackers. I like the single serve Sabras...
  14. I have to say I'm in the minority here - I don't think restaurants have an obligation to let me eat safely. If I don't feel they know what they're doing, I don't eat there. Either we leave, or I have a glass of wine while everyone else eats and get something else at home, but I don't get angry at them. IF a restaurant says they have a gluten-free menu,...
  15. Thanks - I think I will try a food diary for a while. Endo is next week, that will let me know if I've been making some mistakes, I guess. Thanks for everyone's ideas.
  16. Yes, I believe so - and it was some fancy 'brand' labeled Gluten Free. No way to prove it, of course, but I've avoided that brand ever since. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name, but it comes in a black based seal pack and has fancy seasoned flavors in addition to the plain one (which is what got me).
  17. I was diagnosed with Celiac about 15 months ago, went gluten-free and felt so much better. My supposed Lactose Intolerance went away and the main symptom I could see of the (very) occasional accidental glutening was a soreness in my mouth along with short-lived diarrhea and GI trouble. For the last few weeks, I've noticed a return of the GI troubles...
  18. Thanks everyone - I'm looking forward to eating them!
  19. Thanks, and I just realized I meant multisylabically ;-) too focused on the gluten!
  20. ITA - it gets easier. I look at it this way, there have always been restaurants in our neighborhood I go to and those I didn't for one reason or another -- too pricey, too fancy, not fancy enough, too much seafood on the menu (don't like that), etc. I just look at this now as one more reason and I pass by those restaurants without even noticing. With...
  21. Thanks - the questionable ones are maltodextrin, natural and artificial flavors, caramel color, annato (that's ok, right?) and chocolate liquor processed with alkali. Everything else, while monosylabically scary, I think I know to be safe. Someone left them at my house and I'm so tempted....
  22. Does anyone know whether or not these are Gluten Free? The only posts that come up in a search are pretty old and I can find no information on their or Unilever's web site. Thanks!
  23. Ka Me Singapore Express Noodles. Funny, but I can't even find it on their website. Strange.
