  1. Just a quick thanks - I kind of merged all your recipes based on what I had on hand, and they were delicious! Will definitely become a staple of my diet now - so easy to make. I used eggs, onions, Aidell's chicken/apple sausage, cheddar, Italian herb spices and pepper. I didn't have any baking spray on hand (not much of a baker), so I spread a little ghee...
  2. I know it should be relatively easy there - not sure yet if I'll have a kitchenette, but I hope so. Probably staying near Republique or in Le Marais. I'm going for some family business, so I won't be on my own much, and it's not a situation where I can ask people to cook special for me. It will be my first time there since my dx and it will be so hard...
  3. Yes - here's the clip from the about.com site that NoGlutenCookies cited above: The following Hershey's products are NOT gluten-free: Hershey's Special Dark Bar Hershey's Cookies 'N' Creme Bar Hershey's Air Delight Hershey's Milk Chocolate Drops Hershey's Miniatures Mr. Goodbar Symphony Bar Hershey's Extra Dark Chocolate What I read somewhere that...
  4. Hershey's miniatures. But the full size is ok. Weird, right? Fwiw, I drink Canada Dry Ginger Ale all the time.
  5. I'm just about at the 1st anniversary of my diagnosis and I want to take a minute to thank everyone here for your amazing advice and support. If I were to look back at my first posts, I'd see a lot of denial, anger, negotiation (Can I have just a little bit of gluten???), but here I am, one year later - through your guidance having found wonderful foods...
  6. Just be sure you wash those hands before touching the screen :-) Pooplog - I love it!
  7. these are great ideas. thanks all.
  8. Glutino white yogurt covered pretzels are beyond delicious. I can't keep them in the house, though, or my (non-Celiac) daughter will finish them before I can even get to them! Ditto Schar Vanilla Wafer cookies. High calorie though, but sometimes...
  9. Just wondering - I've got someone in my life who is looking for a donor. Thanks,
  10. I just saw this place advertised for the first time (on a commercial), and I'm glad to learn a little about it! I love brazilian steak, so hopefully the commercial means we're getting one locally. Do they have Caipirinhas? And are they Gluten Free?
  11. Hi - Does anyone know if Kirkland brand 81mg low dose aspirin is gluten free? I believe it's made by Bayer, but I don't know if it's the same formulation. It also says "enteric coated" - not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks!
  12. Does anyone know this restaurant? They have an amazingly full gluten-free menu, but also say that they cook desserts and breads on premises. We're going to be visiting Palm Springs soon and have made a reservation here, but I'm worried about whether they take cross-contamination seriously. And if anyone has any other recommendations in Palm Springs...
  13. I'm pretty sure I got glutened from kissing my husband once. As for the comment about 'certified gluten free' possibly still having very small amounts of gluten - it's true and you'd probably be better off with sticking to whole, naturally gluten free foods. Then that won't be a worry. It does sound like you may be very sensitive. FWIW - double dipping...
  14. Hi - Breakfast is my biggest challenge. I really miss a quick egg sandwich that I can grab at the deli and eat at my office. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any good make ahead type egg breakfasts that I can pop in my bag (in a container, of course) and microwave at work. I remember some sort of crustless quiche thing that I made on the South Beach...
  15. I get coffee and lattes at Starbucks and DD all the time - however, I stopped getting the vanilla syrup at sbux because I read the ingredients and found gluten in there. However, this was a while ago and they may have changed the brand or formula.
  16. I would also get your liver and kidney function tested - in fact, it was this itching that led my dermatologist to recommend my GP run tests for liver and kidney function, and in the course of it my GP added Celiac to the testing panel, based on our conversation. I credit this all with diagnosing my Celiac before it got really bad because I was only starting...
  17. Inside forearms sounds like eczema to me. That said, my all over itchiness started to lessen after about 2 - 3 months gluten-free. It recently came back, which I think may be due to a recent accidental glutening or to the very cold weather we're experiencing. Also, before my dx, I think hormones played a part - are you perimenopausal? If it focuses...
  18. I tried a new recipe for a moroccan crock pot chicken last night. It was on Yahoo recently, so you can probably find it there. It was very tasty, if you can tolerate the stew-i-ness that crock pots always do to chicken. However, you need much more chicken stock than was in the recipe if you're going to have it cooking for more than 4 hours. When my husband...
  19. I've used them about 30 times - I had one instance where something that claimed to be gluten-free on other sites showed up as having gluten on gluten-free overflow.
  20. I agree ts not the bottle cap.. More likely its their attitude of "a little bit won't hurt you". being applied to gluten items.
  21. Possibly Celiac, thyroid, anemia and I would also add Lyme Disease to the list. I'm sorry you're going through this. Must be so frustrating. I have heard that many with DS have congenital heart issues. Have you had this checked?
  22. I almost never had headaches until a few years ago. Then just a bit after noticing what we thought was lactose intolerance, the headaches started. After my Celiac dx last year and going gluten-free, in a few months, the headaches stopped.
  23. Thanks everyone- he really is a great guy :-). I guess both of us thought that it was a more self-contained thing if you used a machine. Didn't know there'd be flour out. And sadly, we're in an apartment, so no garage. We'll have to come up with a different gift.
  24. For me, I had the lucky timing of getting what I believe is formication related to perimenopause (yes, look it up :-) it's like bugs crawling on your skin) at the same time I had intense all-over itchiness from undiagnosed Celiac (with no rash and only intermittent hives). Once the other perimenopause symptoms went away and I'd been gluten free for...
  25. Artisan Bistro, E-Vol and even Glutino make some good gluten-free frozen meals. I haven't looked at the nutritional info, but I can't imagine any of these are particularly loaded with bad stuff. Also, I'd try and get a rice cooker in there if you can. Someone (on here?) was talking about ways to make meals in a rice cooker by adding eggs and such as it...
