ARCHIVED Day 2 gluten free diet (testing), diarrhea and pain normal?
cyclinglady replied to Mileenabug's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! Here is more information to support what Karen said about testing for celiac disease: Open Original Shared Link You should really be referred to a GI (I assume you have some other autoimmune disorder.). I would strongly recommend the complete celiac panel and rule out other diorders like Crohn's etc. -
ARCHIVED gluten free and awaiting a specialist
cyclinglady replied to not diagnosed celiac's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Despite being overweight, a celiac can be malnourished. Your body could be hungry for missing nutrients. You need to eat wholesome foods that are naturally gluten free. Avoid processed junk foods. Fill up on protein and good fats and reduce carbs. I am in the U.S., but hopefully a member who lives in Canada can provide some advice about speeding... -

ARCHIVED Help
cyclinglady replied to Kasia2016's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! I am confused. Did you have a negative celiac blood test or a negative biopsy (taken via endoscopy)? -
Overwhelmed and unable to accept
cyclinglady replied to egs1707's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You are sick. Depression and anxiety are symtoms of celiac disease (and many other illnesses). It is hard now to look forward and imagine a great life, but it is possible. I think you are already in the thick of the grieving process right now. Reaching out to this forum can be very healing emotional (it is not just all common sense advice about gluten... -
ARCHIVED Does anyone else have a burning and cramping sensation?
cyclinglady replied to Gracey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Gracey, It am a mother and I am going to give you some valuable advice. You need to keep and document everything related to your health. Every lab test result, notes from your doctor's visits, etc. Why? Because only you are your best health advocate (except for your mom). Doctors come and go, but it is up to you to manage your health. When I... -
Overwhelmed and unable to accept
cyclinglady replied to egs1707's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with all the advice you have been given. It is excellent! I just want to add that things will get better. There is a huge grieving process to go through. Do not fight it. You have a right to grieve as your health and lifestyle will change, but you will adapt! Exercise gently until you feel a bit better. There is plenty of time to exercise... -

Did your doctor check for SIBO, H. pylori, ulcers, etc. when he was obtaining biopsies to check for celiac disease? -

cyclinglady replied to Gracey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It does sound like a Glutening and you are just a few months into the diet. It might help if you read our Newbie 101 thread under the "Coping" section. Here is some information about rice milk: Open Original Shared Link Many, many celiacs are often lactose intolerant temorarily or permanently if you are naturally genetically inclined. When... -
ARCHIVED genetic test back with DQ2 and DQ1 gene
cyclinglady replied to vickyloveaimee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
With the results of the tests you have provided, the next step is a GI consult. Verification of intestinal damage can only be obtained from biopsies via endoscopy per the majority of the world's leading celiac medical experts. Once celiac disease is ruled out, then possibly a non-celiac gluten intolerance can be made. Your daughter has had Lyme Disease... -

ARCHIVED Low alkaline phosphatase in 12 year old celiac
cyclinglady replied to inver's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If it is not malabsorption, maybe she is just a skinny kid. How is she in the weight chart for kids? Mine was always in the 5% bracket up until she was six. Then it increased to 25% and at 15 years of she is at 50% and plays water polo and track. That girl is all muscle! What symptoms is your daughter having? Have you kept a food chart? Do certain... -
ARCHIVED Low alkaline phosphatase in 12 year old celiac
cyclinglady replied to inver's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Excellent point! The DGP is supposed to be better at measuring gluten exposure over the TTG. Like you, I only test positive to the DGP even in follow-up testing. Three cheers for your new celiac-savvy doctor! -
ARCHIVED Low alkaline phosphatase in 12 year old celiac
cyclinglady replied to inver's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So, the good news is that her celiac panel is clean! You both are doing a great job. Have other autoimmune disorders been ruled out? Liver, thyroid or gallbladder issues? Do not give up. Something is probably wrong. Here is my story. I could have sworn that my 19 year old niece had celiac disease. She is tiny (under 100 lbs.) and went through... -
ARCHIVED Help with Blood Test Results
cyclinglady replied to sholler321's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I did not mean to imply that you were IGA deficient. That is something to discuss with your doctor. For diagnosing celiac disease, labs run the IGA deficiency test to determine whether or not the IGA celiac tests work (control test). In your case, it does not matter because your doctor was celiac savvy enough to run the celiac IGG tests too. You were... -
ARCHIVED Help with Blood Test Results
cyclinglady replied to sholler321's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It looks normal to me, but I do not wear a white coat! ?You had the complete panel and even though you are IGA deficient, the IGG tests were negative. Some folks do test negative on the blood tests. The next step might be an endoscopy. Then the GI can rule out celiac disease, SIBO or IBD and so on. I would do that before any allergy testing. For immediate... -
Try sorting and cooking your own chickpeas from scratch, but you might just be intolerant to chickpeas.

ARCHIVED Glutened by ocean spray cran raspberry.
cyclinglady replied to Kurasz's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Naturally gluten-free can be cheap. Eat rice, chicken, pork, fish, eggs, ground beef, veggies, and fruit. Shop the sales. Stock up, cook and freeze. Select seasonal foods. You can get a lot of rice compared to what you paid for that gluten-free biscuit mix. Compare Walmart's 20 pound bag of rice to your two boxes of biscuit mix. You can get 202 servings... -
ARCHIVED Glutened by ocean spray cran raspberry.
cyclinglady replied to Kurasz's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Until you feel better, consider giving up all processed foods. That includes juice and the biscuits! Eat naturally gluten free foods. You might have a fruit intolerance too. So focus on meats, fish and veggies for a few weeks. -
ARCHIVED New and Rapidly Progressing Food Intolerances
cyclinglady replied to oxflm2016's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It could be celiac disease....but it would be impossible to get tested if you have eliminated gluten from your diet. A blood test requires 2 to 3 months of consuming gluten daily. Finding parasites can be tricky. I would keep pursuing it. Find a good GI. I wish you well. -
ARCHIVED Decreased folds in duodenum endoscopy
cyclinglady replied to kkgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
First, I want to hare my tale. I got sick last summer. Abdominal pain, vomiting, hives, rashes (not DH), passing out, itching even without a rash), lost my abilty to consume lactose, pretty much anything I ate hurt to digest. I was a mess. I suspected gluten, but how? My hubby did not get glutened. I have been keeping not just me, but him safe (15... -
ARCHIVED sibo from fructose or gluten
cyclinglady replied to kkgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well, if your GI is willing to give you a celiac disease diagnosis, I would go for it. Obviously, you know that gluten makes you sick (no one in their right mind would stick to a gluten-free diet otherwise ?). A diagnosis is good for your records. Get the diagnosis in written form (Ihave a letter from my GI stating that I must be gluten-free because of... -

"But just as celiac disease often masquerades as another condition, failing the best diagnosticians, the reverse can be true and celiac disease can be misdiagnosed. ARCHIVED can someone help my childs blood test
cyclinglady replied to vickyloveaimee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A positive is a positive. You only need one positive to go on to the next step in diagnosing celiac disease which would be an endoscopy to obtain a intestinal biopsies. Read this about a positive DGP IGG. Young kids can test differently than adults: Open Original Shared Link Personally, I only tested positive to the DGP IGA even in follow...
