  1. I do not think you will cause harm. Skip interval training for now. No sprints and do not watch the clock! Just have fun.
  2. No, but make sure you are not taking supplements that contain iron. Doc can keep an eye on your higher iron levels.
  3. I always use parchment paper. No mess, no sticking and it is cheap at Costco. I use both glass and metal pans. Just lift up those brownies, cool on a baking rack, and slice with a pizza cutter (that has never been in contact with pizza in my case!)
  4. Well, maybe being on a gluten-free diet might actually save your gallbladder. I am doing well without my gallbladder, which was removed almost a decade before my celiac disease dx. But it would be nice to have kept it. It is the family curse!!!!!
  5. Time. It takes time. Everyone heals at a different rate. It took me about a year to feel well enough to start training for events, but 1) I am over 50, and 2) I had fractures (doing nothing) resulting from celiac disease (that will slow you down.....) You will get better and stronger, but you do not want to cause further damage. If I had continued...
  6. If gallstones do not show up on an ultrasound, ask for a HIDA scan which checks for function. Can't digest those Fritos if your gallbladder is not squeezing out bile! Feel better soon! Been there!
  7. Going to Bath and staying three nights at a gluten-free friendly B & B. Hubby delighted with your restaurant recommendation. Going to a resort/restaurant called the Lighthouse which is completely gluten-free and is 30 minutes away from Bath. No room at their inn, but another heavenly restaurant option. We thought we would be tailgating or picnicking...
  8. Thank you! So nice of you to respond! I made a note of your comments! I do plan on packing my collapsible cooler, some plastic dinnerware, etc. in anticipation of picnicking. Hope you are feeling better soon!
  9. Raccoon eyes and a crease in the nose are often signs of allergies. It can be genetic too or related to the damages of celiac disease. Be patient, it takes time to heal!
  10. I use CeraVe for my daily sunscreen on my face. Then I add blobs of Banana Boat for Babies on my bike rides as it does not run into my eyes which can cause stinging or blurred vision. I use No-Ad that Consumer Reports rates well and Coppertone spray because it is cheap at Costco and I only spray my back while standing in the shower in case my jersey does...
  11. The Southern brand, Zatarain's Red Beans and Rice and Mahatama Red Beans and Rice, contain wheat in the seasoning packet but not sure about Kroger. I would make it from scratch.
  12. This is a pretty old thread, so do not expect a response from the original posters. Testing for Celiac Disease (and there is no test for gluten sensitivity), can not be done via saliva. Check out this link to the University of Chicago's celiac website: Open Original Shared Link Good luck!
  13. The Walgreen's version of the Eucerin Cream (jar) is greasier. I prefer Walmart's knock-off.
  14. I use Cerave, Vaseline Intensive Care Rescue, Jenna Hipp Hand Cream (sold at Costco), and Walmart's Equate cream in a jar which only has five ingredients! My girlfriend swears by coconut oil and she has celiac disease. Johnson and Johnson has a new line of Baby products that explains every ingredient. It is a bit runny though, but smells nice.
  15. I do not have DH, but you might type it in the search box of the forum. Many have shared pictures. Take care!
  16. Glad that you found your answers. You do not need a skin biopsy for diagnosis -- just continue to avoid gluten like the plague! Realize that one glutening can cause DH to rear it's ugly head! And to appear even if you have not had a recent exposure to gluten. I hear that ice helps. Be careful with meds -- every drug has risks. Thanks for the restaurant...
  17. There are women who have premature menopause, so it is not impossible. Ma is right, you should have your thyroid checked. If you have compression fractures from celiac disease (like me), you could have numbness (I did). Being light-headed can indicate low blood pressure. Lots of thing associated with that. Time for a trip to your doctor, maybe?
  18. I can not live without soy! Neither my husband nor I have been glutened by soy and we adore endaname and I use them in my chili as they are low in carbs and good for diabetes. I live on soymilk since I have a milk and tree nut allergy and an intolerance to coconut. I am drinking an iced coffee with soy, right this very instant! To test for any suspected...
  19. My initial blood work was barely positive and my only symptom was anemia (went to GI for routine colonoscopy and he suspected celiac disease) but my biopsy showed Marsh Stage IIIB moderate to severe-damage. I have not gone back for another blood test since I was barely positive on it, I am no longer anemic, and my husband is gluten-free, so I am very sure...
  20. Well, first talk to the GI. You have the celiac disease positive lab tests and many docs will diagnose based on those results alone. You can go forward and do the biopsy to check for cancer (unlikely) and ascertain damage which is probably still evident even without a gluten challenge. You can ask to have your kids tested by the new doc or find another...
  21. I do not have DH, but despite your google search on photos of it, maybe you do have it. Have you searched this forum (especially, the DH section)? I have read on this forum that it takes a really long time to resolve DH, unlike healing the gut. My heart goes out to you. I am hoping that those with DH will respond when they get a chance.
  22. That is crazy! I guess you could do the test over again, if 1) you are being held hostage due to only one medical group in your town, 2) you do not have to dish out more money and 3) you plan on living there for a long time! Otherwise, keep your lab records and show them years later to your next doctor near Atlanta (that is where my family lives.....
  23. Slow down. You just need time! Sounds like you are doing a good job of now preventing cross contamination. But, I would try to make your house as gluten-free as possible. One of our forum members is an MD and has celiac disease. She found that she was getting glutened by her tiny kids. They spread gluten with slobbery kisses and spread it around...
  24. In the old days (20 years ago) my doctor pushed probiotics long before they became popular and had a lot of studies done. I would have waited until my course of antibiotics was done or nearly done, but now, if I had a really big issue, like you, I would start them concurrently with the antibiotic. Use different strains and eat foods, if possible, that...
  25. I do not use anything on my body that contains gluten and that is just for piece of mind! My hands are in my mouth way too often! So, I do not use their products, especially lotions or the germie gels. Besides, I think most of it stinks! I am fragrance sensitive and that is NOT related to celiac disease -- just inherited from Grandma! I do buy their...
