  1. We just grate the potatoes, add one egg, some finely chopped onion, salt and pepper. Then spoon them into a frying pan with some oil in it. Also, we eat them with applesauce. Sorry it is not an exact recipe that I use.
  2. That's a great start to a new dip. Thank you.
  3. It's a strange thing being gluten-free. I have experimented with new vegetables. I made a curried parsnip soup. I bake and mash sweet potatoes. Potato and broccoli soup. My husband likes to eat salads with tomatoes, peppers and avocado.
  4. I know how you feel not having an official diagnosis. Sometimes I wonder too. I have wanted to eat half a baguette because they smell so good when my husband eats them, but then I remember the pain and the nausea and the D, and I eat something safe. This site helps so much with the emotional side of being gluten-free. And just so you know, I have lately...
  5. Watch out for VEGA bars. They say gluten-free but they have wheat grass in them!
  6. I have a high metabolism and I have always been thin. I haven't gained weight since I went gluten-free, but I have maintained it. I try to eat a lot of nuts and beans. Also I have to eat about every two to three hours. But I'm not able to offer much help because I haven't gained weight either.
  7. Dairy, beef, meat with antibiotics or hormones, and artificial sweeteners. All of these items cause bloating, gas, nausea and diarrhea. I also avoid msg as it gives me heart palpitations.
  8. Kinnikinnick pizza crusts are the best.
  9. I want to get the test done too, but I don't know anything about it either. My mom said it doesn't hurt at all. She said you don't feel anything.
  10. I asked the head chef at my Ikea if I could eat anything and he said definitely not. It was really too bad. I love Ikea otherwise.
  11. Yay my computer is fixed. Anyway, do you have a recipe for black bean dip. I eat hummus, guac. and salsa almost daily, so it would be fun to add a fourth dip. Okay, I admit it, I eat hummus every day.

    ARCHIVED Migraines

I had at least one migraine a month prior to going gluten-free. I think I have only had a few since last June.
  13. Okay that is the same litter that I use. It really is good and has a great price. Where did you get this information about wheat in clay litter from? I am just curious.
  14. They gave me that wheat litter when I adopted my second cat, so I tried it. My oldest cat decided it tasted better than his cat food! I had to get rid of it. But that was funny (for about a second) to see him eating brand new litter for the new kitten in the brand new litter box. The look on his face was classic when I told him it wasn't for eating.
  15. The Kinnikinnick pizza crusts are just like the real thing, and I'm not a fan of their breads, so I was wary. The pizza crusts are worth the high price.
  16. Two final exams today, so somewhat lame food. Breakfast: Rice cakes with peanut butter Lunch: Tinkyada pasta salad, Tazo Awake tea with honey and Glutino breakfast bar some Lays Stax chips Supper: Salad, Chili (made with ground turkey) and a glass of red wine Hmm, I think I need to add more fruit to my diet.
  17. I have tried adding an aged cheese about once a month for the past few months but I have had D every time. I think it is a casein intolerance, but I'm not sure. Thanks everyone for the great ideas. I completely forgot about artichoke hearts. I used to eat those on pizza all the time before I was gluten-free. It sounds like a good sauce is the key...
  18. Does anyone have suggestions on how to make one. I have been craving pizza since I went cf. I have the Kinnikinnick pizza crusts, but I don't know what to put on them. How could I make them taste cheesy without any cheese?
  19. The Canadian and the UK Lea & Perrins worchestershire sauces are both unsafe for celiacs, but the US Lea & Perrins uses a different recipe and is safe. Apparently there are two recipes.
  20. My blood tests were negative. However, I'm not sure if the full panel was tested. The difference from going gluten-free has been like night and day. I didn't know that I could feel normal (healthy, I guess?) again. My doctor saw me after being gluten-free for five months and she was very happy with the improvements to my health and well being. She didn...
  21. 1. Tinkyada 2. Que Pasa tortilla chips 3. Homemade hummus 4. Lifestream waffles 5. natural peanut butter
  22. I had to eliminate all dairy and for the first time I have had normal bm's for the past four days. It's amazing. You could try eliminating dairy. Some people have issues with soy too.
  23. I know you said you tried everything, but I just have to ask. Have you tried George's Special Dry Skin Cream? It was made by two dermatologists in Calgary where I'm sure you know we have terribly dry weather.
  24. I felt the same way in the beginning too. I am not a vegetarian, but I only eat chicken or fish a few times a week at the most. I added more things like peanut butter, beans (i.e. hummus dip with tortilla chips), nuts, and gluten-free vegan meal replacement bars. Also, I found I had to eat more often, which is fine with me because I am skinny. I wouldn...
