  1. I always call about a week ahead of time to make sure that they will have things I want in stock in the bakery. I usually get a large order each time I go because the store is so far away from me. Everything is so popular that it goes fast. I like the Gluten Free Cranberry/Orange Scones. I wrap one in a paper towel and nuke it for about 35 seconds. It...
  2. I have been binging. When I find things that I can eat, I eat them until they are gone. It doesn't matter how full I am, I just keep eating. It's a very poor (and expensive) way of dealing with life as a Celiac. Cindy
  3. Easter is comming and the Marshmallow Peeps are back on the shelves in the stores. Does anyone know if they are Gluten Free? Cindy
  4. Brandon - Do you think they would be interested in opening a store in Maryland? Cindy
  5. I wrote to Suave to see if any of their products are gluten free. I found their answer interesting: Hi Cindy, Thanks for writing! We do not specifically test our products for the presence of gluten, a sticky protein found in some grains such as wheat. Gluten may be present in products that contain derivatives of wheat, oat, rye, and barley. In...
  6. During the past 5 years or so, I had 3 episodes of severe D that would last for about 3 months. When I went to the GI, I filled out the history form, which included the fact that my father had an iliostomy (due to supposed ulcerative colitis) 30 some years ago, and that my brother has had Celiac for many years. Each time I had a colonoscopy that showed...
  7. Berneses and Robbin, That really isn't a picture of my dog (You caught me). I am a terrible photographer, but I found this picture and thought that it looks a lot like her. She might be part golden and part collie (she had the collie beard), but she has a thicker undercoat like a chow. I really don't know what kind she is because I rescued her. Someone...
  8. Betty , It happened to me again - someone beat me to posting it . I remember reading on here about a recipe that included Ore Ida Tater Tots. I went to oreida.com and clicked on FAQS. They have a site listing their Gluten Free Products. TATER TOTS WAS NOT ON IT. I guess that you are just too quick for me. Cindy
  9. GF4life - Boy you are quick. While I was searching for the site, you found it and posted it. You win . Cindy
  10. Robbin, Welcome! It's too bad that you don't have a physical support group near you, but this site can be an emotional and educational support group to you. I know I have learned so much from everyone here. It makes it a little easier to know that other people are experiencing the same things that you are. It seems that "somebody" always has an answer...
  11. I think Giant in MD and Giant in PA are two different chains. Can you find out if other locations offer this class? I would love to attend one, but Hershey is pretty far for me to come from Westminster, MD. Thanks, Cindy
  12. I just called Boston Market and they E-Mailed me their Gluten Free menu!!! Thank you for inquiring. The information provided herein is based on standard product formulations and recipes. Variations can be expected due to slight differences in product assembly on a restaurant-by-restaurant basis and other factors. In order to ensure freshness...
  13. I'm from MD - we could meet in the middle. (woof)
  14. Try not to worry too much until you get the results. Cindy
  15. I have been gluten free for about 9 months. I am still binging. I had lost 35 lbs. in 3 months before I was diagnosed. I have gained back the 35 plus 15 more. I have found gluten free substitutes for things that I can't have. I can sit down and eat a meal that is meant for 4 people by myself. I just stuff myself until I am ready to burst. I...
  16. Welcome to all of the "Newbies"!
  17. I have been gluten free for about 9 months. Just the past couple of weeks I have noticed my heart beating faster than usual at times. I am addicted to Diet Coke - I figure there are a lot worse things that I could be addicted to. At least it is not on the "Can Not Have" list. I have self diagnososed myself as drinking too much caffeine. I feel that by...
  18. I assume that your son is the one with Celiac. NO watery D is not normal. How long has this been going on. It is a sign of malabsorbtion. Everything that he is eating is going straight through him without having a chance for his body to retain any nutrients. The poor guy must be feeling really weak and run down . It sounds like something he his...
  19. Covooze, I agree with Ursula - You DO NEED a seperate colandar. I even made sure mine is a different color and shape than the one used with gluten food. One time I was cooking gluten free pasta for myself, and gluten full pasta for my son at the same time. I stirred the pasta in his pot, and then went to stir my pot with the same spoon - Oh...

  21. I eat there about once a month. I have also had to repeat that I don't want the cornbread (well I really do want it ), and that I don't want gravy on my potatoes. I usually go early in the day, before the lunch crowd hits. I figure I have less of a chance of cross contamination. I've never had a problem. Cindy
  22. Do you have a Wegman's near you? They have a light Ranch that is really good.
  23. ...And I thought all men were pigs. He proved me wrong. You are one lucky lady. Cindy
  24. Welcome Basha - Some days are better than others, and some days are just downright bad. We have all been there, and it makes it a little easier knowing that there are many shoulders here to lean on. I spend hours on this site every day, and have learned so much. There are some very knowledgeable people who post, and can help you find the answer...
