ARCHIVED Allergic To Gluten And Common Gluten Free Ingredients
BelleVie replied to dtmichiels's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Orgran brand's buckwheat sprial noodles are the only gluten free pasta I can stomach. (Hee hee.) They're 100% buckwheat and I have found them to be very gentle on my system. Gluten free pasta made with corn or other grains just tear my stomach up. -
ARCHIVED How Is A Biopsy Done
BelleVie replied to marip's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi marip, The biopsy is a piece of cake. For mine, I could not eat the night before. I went to the doctor in the morning, they had me go into a little office and I got an IV. Then I went to the room where they did the biopsy. The doctor had me lay down, they gave me the anesthesia, and I woke up what felt like a moment later. I experienced absolutely... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free For 2 Years, Now What?
BelleVie replied to Npealer's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Just jumping in here to suggest that it's also possible to OP has developed another food intolerance. It might be a good idea to do a food diary and take a good look at commonly intolerant foods, like soy and corn. -
ARCHIVED Help, Newbie Here With Lots Of Questions.
BelleVie replied to grey66's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi grey, it would be a good idea to check out the Newbie 101 thread. It will give you all of the information you need to get started. It can seem overwhelming at first, but you will get the hang of things. It will eventually become second nature! -

ARCHIVED Can Stress Trigger Type 1 Diabetes In Prone Individuals?
BelleVie posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've learned that autoimmune disorders tend to come in groups, and it absolutely terrifies me that I could potentially develop diabetes. I have major problems with dealing with my stress levels, and know that I need to learn some healthy ways of decompressing, but I (I cringe as I type this) just haven't really found the time to figure it out. I know it's... -
ARCHIVED New Smoking Warning From Surgeon General
BelleVie replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
That's a very interesting thought! My mother now has RA and is a longtime smoker. I'm convinced she is celiac as well, though she refuses to be tested. Sigh. -
ARCHIVED Interstitial Cystitis/painful Bladder Syndrome
BelleVie replied to BelleVie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
And KCG91, rice seems to cause it to flare sometimes, but then seems to make no difference at other times. I think it could also be that my body is still in crazy post-gluten, celiac recovering reaction mode. Who knows? But I'm going to try some rice this weekend to see how I feel. I'm beginning to come around to the idea of being grain free, though. It sounds... -
ARCHIVED Interstitial Cystitis/painful Bladder Syndrome
BelleVie replied to BelleVie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
So update to this: I went to the doctor again with the burning pain. He did a urine test. Found nothing. Again. I could not bear the thought of another hospital visit, and having a cystoctopy (spelling?) sounded terrible, SO my friend recommended taking an essential oil called "thieves oil." It's a blend of cinnamon, oregano, cloves, and maybe something else... -
ARCHIVED Still Very Sick!
BelleVie replied to Elizabethjohnson-1991's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh sweetie, I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. I'm 25, so I know what you mean about seeing other people just doing their thing, being young and active. It's tough. Thank goodness you figured out what was going on with your birth control pill! I know that many people on this forum have a drawn out reaction to even one tiny glutening, so... -
ARCHIVED Natural Approach To Increasing Bone Density/help With Reading Results
BelleVie replied to BelleVie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
blmoreschi, Who knows? Her density may have improved since then, and she may be just fine to start pointe! Especially since she is so young. I'm sure her body is eagerly re-building bone, making up for lost time. And if she can't begin pointe as quickly as she wants to, then she'll be all the stronger when she actually can begin. Also (I'm not a doctor... -
ARCHIVED Dried Fruit Contaminated With Gluten?
BelleVie replied to nama shivaya's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
oops, my bad. It got bumped up and I didn't check the date. Anyway, the info is there should someone else need it. -
ARCHIVED Confused And Annoyed!
BelleVie replied to LeanneMarie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Leanne, something that helps me when I get backed up is using an enema. You can get them from the pharmacy. It feels kind of weird the first time you do it, but they work for me 95 % of the time to help get things moving again. -
ARCHIVED Dried Fruit Contaminated With Gluten?
BelleVie replied to nama shivaya's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hathor, I just wanted to tell you that I've also been sick several times from brown rice not labeled gluten free. I think it's maybe transported in shared containers…or maybe it's washed along with barley grains….who knows? It's in Korea, so I can't call the company to check. But I'm doing much better using only certified gluten free rice. -
ARCHIVED Interstitial Cystitis/painful Bladder Syndrome
BelleVie replied to BelleVie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yeah, it really isn't fun to feel constant burning and irritation down there, and with no medical reason! I've started a round of oregano oil to kill off anything IF there is even the smallest infection. I'm cutting all white sugar for the next few weeks (sniff…baking is my culinary sanctuary…), and I may consider the condom issue. I do have a paragard IUD... -
ARCHIVED Interstitial Cystitis/painful Bladder Syndrome
BelleVie replied to BelleVie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Wow, thank you for that information. I haven't had a diagnosis, I just did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that IC is the most likely issue. You're right that I should get it checked out by a doctor. I may eventually, if it doesn't calm down, but for right now, I am just so, so, so tired of doctors and hospitals. I need a break for a while! -

ARCHIVED Is The gluten-free Diet Making Me Stupid?
BelleVie replied to C-Girl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thank you for that. I have been really down on myself for years for being "lazy." I'm a type-A personality and I feel like I need to "get things done," but often I just don't have the energy. It's easier to deal with and to forgive myself and my body when I know other people are going through the same thing. -
ARCHIVED Going To A Korean Restaurant Tonight
BelleVie replied to NanaV's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Oh that's awesome. I wish they had that over here in Korea!! What was the brand? -
ARCHIVED Interstitial Cystitis/painful Bladder Syndrome
BelleVie posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Does anyone have experience with this? Over the past six months or so, I've started noticing the feeling of what I thought was a UTI coming on. The first time it happened, I felt so panicked with the pain that I went straight to the doctor, who did a urine sample and found that I had a very slight bladder infection. I took a round of antibiotics, but still... -
ARCHIVED Unconfirmed Diagnosis - And Lots Of Anger
BelleVie replied to GF in BC's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oh, BC, I'm so sorry that you feel this way, and I can completely relate to your anger toward your parents not considering the pain you were in. I grew up without even having a primary care physician or a pediatrician. When we got sick, we just went to the least crowded "convenient care" center, so my medical records from childhood are dispersed across who... -
ARCHIVED Bloating - Help? :(
BelleVie replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Why should one not drink peppermint tea everyday, GFinDC? I'm just curious. I have never heard that before. -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Education To Give To Others.
BelleVie replied to Googles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You're welcome. I feel like those information fact sheets give most all of the information a celiac would need, with the exception of one specifically addressing the risks of CC!! I've searched far and wide for one, but haven't found it yet! I'll let you guys know if I do! -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Education To Give To Others.
BelleVie replied to Googles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The University of Chicago Celiac Center's materials are great. They have several PDFs explaining different issues associated with the gluten free diet and celiac disease. I actually suggested to them that they do one specifically on cross contamination a while back, but I'm not sure if they have yet or not. Here's a link to the existing materials: Open Original...
