Carla, The Honey BBQ are good, but I like my mouth to be on fire when I eat wings...I know, I'm a sadist...LOL

I just talked to them on the phone last month -- the representative told me that the mild, medium, spicy garlic and hot sauces are gluten free. I actually buy them by the bottle at the "carry-out" portion of the restaurant. The sauce is gluten free - per BW3 email and BW3 representative and my lack of symptoms Bronco p.s. Agree with what...

ARCHIVED Trip To Vegas...looking For Safe Menus Or Places To Eat
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to sparkles's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Sparkles, If you guys go the show at the Excalibur called Tournament of Kings, they will serve you a gluten free dinner (just tell them when you make your reservation) - Its decent - rostissiere chicken with veggies. Beyond that, I have never eaten at the Excalibur (usually too many kids and families, so I avoid the restaurants there) The Mirage... -
Sorry to hear about your bad experience. As a sidenote, I just want to remind everyone that when you order a salad in a restaurant, always order it "dressing on the side" (no croutons of course). Many places use the same bowls for tossing salads and crumbs of croutons can get in everywhere. I know dry salads are not as good as tossed ones, but it is...

ARCHIVED Bleh! New Grist Is Gross!

I respectfully disagree. I miss Killians too More New Grist for me! -
You can also ask the manager/server to have them toss the wings in a clean bowl and it is ok. I hate it when I have to dip the wings in the sauce. Also, the buffalo chips are not gluten free as they are fried in a "dirty" fryer (i.e. other gluten containing products in the fryer), but you can take them home frozen from BW3 -- just ask the manager and tell...

ARCHIVED Trip To Vegas...looking For Safe Menus Or Places To Eat
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to sparkles's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Sparkles, Where are you staying? For how long? Types of meals? How expensive? Let me know and I can assist. In other news, Las Vegas (Summerlin) is getting a "Gluten Free Bakery" -- It is supposed to open later this month or November (once the permits are approved). How exciting! Bronco -
ARCHIVED 2005 Toyota Camry
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to floridanative's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I recommend that you also look at a 2005 Honda Accord. I had an Accord for years and it treated me well. The difference between it and a Camry is the steering (Honda has the speed sensitive steering so its a tighter feel) and I like Honda's seats better. My mom has a 2003 Camry and loves it. It has never given her a problem. The two best cars for... -

VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to mommyetb's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs

ARCHIVED Chilly's Has No Clue!
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to amber-rose's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Just echoing some earlier sentiments. I wouldn't blame the entire Brinker Corporation for one bad restaurant. The Chili's here in Vegas have been accomodating. To be honest, the only places that I have seen in which the Hostesses had a clue about "gluten free" was Carrabbas, PF Changs and First Watch. Normally, these girls are in high... -

VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to penguin's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The Celiac learning curve is a long one. Also, it is one that is accomplished only by experience and education. The format of this forum allows for the freedom of speech and expression. Unfortunately, that also can be the freedom of giving misinformation, unintended emotions and misinterpreted emails. As a "veteran" member, I understand that celiac disease... -

ARCHIVED My Vegas Trip Did Not Go Very Well
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to j9n's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
For anyone considering a trip to Las Vegas in the future, here is some free advice. The Mirage Hotel and Casino is the best at catering to gluten free folks. I have eaten at the Carnegie Deli, Staxx, Samba and Kokomo's (all in the Mirage)without any problems. Also, when you order a salad, Celiacs need to order their salads like this: "House Salad... -
Kraft dressings will not hide gluten in their ingredients. I enjoy Kraft's Ranch and Creamy Bleu Cheese all the time.

VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to SVG's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
1. Read Gluten Free for Dummies by Dana Korn -- it will speed up the learning curve. 2. Mentally reject anything you thought may or may not have wheat/gluten in it - things you think do not end up having it -- you need to re-learn and re-think about every thing he eats 3. Search this website for any questions you might have, if you can't find it, ask... -
ARCHIVED No Support At Home
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to Ursa Major's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry to hear about your family's lack of support. Unfortunately, it sounds like another case of people think they know as much as a G.I. doctor when really they know nothing at all. With regards to the other people with Celiac that don't feel quite as bad when they ingest things that contain gluten, just remember, it will catch up with them. If... -

Armetta, At the Columbus Fish Market, they have drinks called "Pine-Fins"...Basically they take a big glass jug, cut up a ton of pineapples and then pour in Finlandia Vodka. They let it sit for 24-48 hours and then serve it to you on the rock or in a martini glass with a chunk of the pineapple. The great thing is the pineapple and the vodka have been ...
