  1. I couldn't find Progresso, so I got Health Valley's Cream of Mushroom Soup.
  2. Momma, does the addition of the cream cheese cause the casserole to "thicken" or is it necessary to add some gluten-free flour also?? I have tried for three years to make this dish and every year, I screw it up...LOL Everything else comes out great, but this is my achilles heel of Thanksgiving... Also, should the cassserole be covered in the...
  3. Anyone? I have mushrooms, the bacon, the gluten-free flour, the cream of mushroom soup and the funyuns. Should I use fresh green beans (which have failed me in the past), frozen or "Gulp" canned? Then what? Help me Help me!
  4. If I remember correctly, Pacific uses "wheat starch" as one of their ingredients, which they claim has no gluten. It has caused some controversey around these parts. However, recently, I have heard that the process of turning wheat into "wheat starch: does eliminate the gluten. However, this does not mean that I am willing to eat their products.
  5. www.glutenfreeinsd.com The Prado in Balboa Park will take care of you. Call ahead and ask for Jake to take care of you - he is an old friend and though he does not have Celiac, he is a damn good waiter and will make sure you have a great and delicious time! Bronco
  6. Wouldn't it be a beautiful sunrise in Carolina? East right? Over the Ocean?
  7. I just melt butter (ok tons of butter) and mix in creole seasonings... Yum yum
  8. Snowbirds = More Mature folks from Northernly locales that travel south (normally Florida, Arizona or So-Cal) for the winter as the cold "disagrees" with them. Snowbirds make a plethora of Dr. appointments and often crowd the Casinos and buffets
  9. No tickets yet, but I just love being in C-bus for that weekend -- SOOOO MUCH FUN! I will be back in Dayton over X-mas (to see the family)... I noticed your username -- when do you graduate from Nursing school? My mom works at MVH in the NICU unit (graduate nursery)
  10. I will be there that weekend (for the Michigan game) - Go Bucks! Watch out for random Buckeye fans hunting wolverines
  11. Did anyone eat at the Columbus Fish Market? If so, did you enjoy it???? Bronco
  12. Debmidge, Are you referring to "Grey Goose" ?? If so, it is a grain based vodka (wheat, etc) The only sweet potato vodkas I have seen are Korean based or in Korean restaurants...
  13. I got glutened the other week as well. The sad thing is I knew better about the place. I had a brainfart and decided to go to a buffet with my gluten-free -- she had free buffet passes. I was careful and I asked 100 questions. I still got nailed and it stayed with me for 2.5 days. Like I said, I knew better than to try and eat at...
  14. Sounds great, but considering the bacon, butter and ranch, how is it a healthy alternative to stuffing?
  15. FYI, Lately, there have been a fe companies that claim that processed wheat starch does not actually contain any gluten (due to the way it is processed and filtered). Personally, I have not ventured a try in that arena, but that is what a number of companies have said. I wonder if GIG or CSA has an opinion on this...
  16. Are you guys referring to the "Buffalo Chips" ? It was my understanding that those were fryed in the non-dedicated fryers. I was told they were not gluten free due to the potential for cross-contamination.
  17. The ingredient list is somewhat misleading. A study was done by the university of Nebraska and they found no gluten in the french fries...
  18. Happy Birthday, Lisa!!!!!
  19. i love the Spicy Garlic, Mild, Medium, Hot and Honey BBQ -- they are the bomb! Call ahead to the one you are going to and talk to the manager. Take care of it before you get there and then just ask to see him/her when you arrive. The wings taste better to me when the sauce comes on them (but you have to be vigilant and demand they mix them in a separatebowl...
  20. Yes, it is.
  21. Vodkas can be made from: 1. Neutral Grains (can be wheat, corn, rye, combis of each, etc) (Absolut, Stoli, Ketel One, etc) 2. Potatoes (Chopin, Luksusowa, Glacier Bay, etc) 3. Corn (Smirnoff) 4. Grapes (Ciroc) 5. Rye (Belvedere) 6. Sweet Potatoes 7. Other veggies (LOL) It all depends on your senstivity. I can drink the grain vodkas...
  22. I always talk to a manager. Do you really want to trust your health to a 20 year old kid who thinks you just said "glucose"?? Seriously, involve a manager...
  23. I can offer some advice. I lease my car right now (part of my promotion was the boss gave me a car allowance). One of the first qustions the dealer will ask you is "how much can you afford" -- Now what they are thinking is the number you give them is the "minimum" you will spend (even though you think its the maximum). Car salesman are great negotiators...
  24. I was going to stay out of this, but I feel that my input may assist the discussion. I was a waiter/bartender for 10 years (almost the same time I had Celiac). I can probably count the number of times I waited on someone that was as knowledgeable as I was/am regarding food preparation. Most of the time, I actually educated people regarding gluten containing...
  25. Lauren, I made my green bean casserole the same way! I liked how the Funyuns came out and the really were yummy- LOL I am counting down the days to my deep fried turkey, smoked gouda mashey taters and pumpkin cheesecake. In your honor, I might whip up a gluten-free pecan pie as well
