  1. This week, I bought a big package of Delimex Chicken Tacos and some Pace Picante salsa. Next week, I will make homemade chicken salad. The next week, will be Thai Kitchen Noodle Bowls and Turkey gluten-free sandwiches.
  2. Tiff, I read it as a "Japanese" restaurant - not necessarily a "sushi" restaurant. No restaurant would use chicken broth to make sushi - it would defeat the purpose (of making the rice sticky). Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I read it. Many restaurants add chicken broth tio their rice for flavor and color.
  3. "Brain Fog" is common for celiacs who ingest gluten. Life is pretty amazing when one comes out of the "fog"...
  4. Agreed. The scallops are wonderful there. The wedge salad with bleu cheese was yummy too...
  5. In the USA, maltodextrin is corn-based. However, always call the manufacturer. Kraft told me Velveeta was "ok".
  6. Don't forget about Red Bridge from Anheuser Busch - it coms out next week in Las Vegas (the distributor gave me a complimentary 12 pack if I promised to piblicie the beer to the Celiac Community) The 12'er is chilling as we speak...
  7. Here is the website of the place at Zion where one of the owners has celiac disease Open Original Shared Link
  8. Just to echo an earlier sentiment. Tinkyada Pasta + Kraft Cheese = gluten-free Mac N Cheese that tastes like the Kraft Stuff. It is actually amazing! LOL I might make Cheesburger Macaroni tonight...YAY!!
  9. Here is the good news. When I applied for law school (2000), I had a "record". Most of the stuff was misdemeanors when I was younger (3 of them), but, I also had an arrest for DUI in 2000. MY DUI was eventually pled down to a "Wreckless Operation of a Vehicle". My advice is to get a GOOD attorney - one who specializes in DUI's or one has many Prosecutors...
  10. I went to the Bristol night race 2 years ago with my brothers. I like Roush Racing - I like Greg Biffle I hate Tony Stewart...
  11. The gluten-free and I are going to Zion National Park. I reserved a Suite at a nice B&B up there. The cool thing is the proprieters have celiac disease, so outr breakfast will be gluten-free and delicious. We plan on going hiking through Zion on New Years Day. Can't wait!
  12. Depression was present for me as well. It got much better when I went on the diet and started exercising more.
  13. I can understand your frustration. One of my good friends has run into similar problems with his youngest daughter at pre-school. The director was on board, but the actual teachers were negligent with food preparation, cleanliness and general awareness. He finally had to have a meeting with the director and the teachers at the same time (and his daughter...
  14. I just bought a Kitchen Aid Mixer! It was my X-mas present to myself! I absolutely love it. I will never purchase another crappy hand mixer for the rest of my life. Have fun with it! Mashed Potatoes taste so much better than before - so does my Cheescake!
  15. I know M&M's are fine (or at least the companty says they are), I have never heard of Red Dye being correlated to Celiac.
  16. Just playing Devil's advocate, but were the employees competently trained on Celiac awareness? I encounter this type of ignorance all the time (my office, restaurants, etc). If they don't have the disease, they need to learn like the rest of us. Most mothers do not start out as Celiac geniuses until after a few months or even a year. I can't imagine...
  17. Happy Birthday Jen! Hope the hubby did something special for ya! (I'm sure he did) Gluten Free Birthday Cake for Everyone!!
  18. Digital Camera or a cornhole set (that's Bean Bag Toss for the non-Ohioans). My gluten-free got me a few framed pics of us (I think she is marking her territory - lol) and my favorite cologne (Dolce Gabana)

  20. Richard, I diagree slightly. Wheat has to be disclosed, but not barley or rye (not that I have ever seen barley or rye in a turkey). Many natural flavoings have a wheat base, but it is unclear whether those have to be reported or not (evidenced by the self-basting glutening). be safe, call the company...
  21. I never buy cold cuts from the Deli. I always buy the pre-packaged stuff. If the deli people are busy, they don't always clean the slicer to my satisfaction, so I just never order food there. I purchase Hormel, Hillshire Farms, Hebrew National, Kroger, Oscar Meyer Bolgna and Carl Buddig deli meats.
  22. Becky, order the salad "Dressing on te side" and you will not have to worry about cross contamination. Also, order the baked potato "unopened" - soemtimes, they use the closest utensil to slice open a baked potato - even if it was a bread knife.
  23. I like breakfast pizza - eggs, sausage, bacon (and soy cheese) or Add sugar to the crust and make a PB & J pizza. Yummy!
  24. I always thought pigs in a blanket was a sausage wrapped in a pancake or pancake batter...
  25. Mean people suck! Our peeps are the greatest!
