ARCHIVED Carabbas.. Outback And Bonefish Grill?
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to zachsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Carrabba's does a pretty fantastic job for being a "chain" Italian restaurant. Remember to order your food without grill baste. I highly recommend the Pollo Rosa Maria -- SOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOD!!!! I went to the Bonefish Grille that just opened in Vegas and my fish had boes in it. I wasn't sure if it was a joke or part of the name sake? -

VegasCeliacBuckeye posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hey gang, Sorry for the late post (I had said that I would post about my New Year's experience earlier). For those of you that do not remember, my girlfriend and I stayed at a cozy little Bed & Breakfast near Zion National Park for New Years Eve. The place is called "Under the Eaves". You can find it at www.undertheeaves.com The B&... -

VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Well, Mom just got back the test results from the endoscopy. She has Celiac! She alsso has elevated IGA and IG levels. I told her "welcome to the club" and if she has any questions, I am here. Once she gets her new computer, she will be coming on this site. BB p.s. No, you cannot ask her any potentially embarrassing questions about... -

VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to GeoffCJ's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
hey Geoff, Is there any way you can post what the Grandma says in Vietnemese to the restaurant folks. I would love to be able to eat at a Vietmanese place, but have been afraid to do so due to the language barrier. This way, I could print out what she says and take it in with me. Thanks BB -

VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to hathor's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Last night, I made Tinkyada Pasta covered in Skyline (Cincinnati Chili), Cheese and Hot Sauce. It felt like I was back in Ohio. I will have to try the pasta you had. ow expensive was it? (Hopefully cheaper than Tinkyada) -
ARCHIVED Kraft Macaroni And Cheese
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to squirt2476's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
the cheese packet is gluten free. You can actually buy trhe cheese packets by themselves at Wal Mart. Also, for the best Mac N Cheese, use Tinkyada pasta instead of those other brands. There is no comparison. Tinkyada looks and tastes like real pasta!!!! -
ARCHIVED Anyone Heard From Lynne Tiredofdoctors?
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to Mtndog's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have to admit, I had never tried a "white" pizza. I mean, who doesn't put sauce on a pizza? Boy was I wrong - that sucker was good! Sorry about the description Judy - it is really a Celiac's dream. The pizza actually tastes like real pizza. They recently told Mouse that they are going to start carrying Bard's Ale as well. A place where we can get... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Heard From Lynne Tiredofdoctors?
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to Mtndog's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Lynne, Mouse and I met up for pizza at Picazzo's again. I had the pepperoni, sausage and jalapeno pizza (and gluten free garlic bread for an appetizer Mouse had a "white" pizza with spinach, sausage, mushrooms and cheese. They were both awesome, but the garlic bread was especially yummy - especially dipping into the pizza sauce the waiter brought... -
ARCHIVED Please Read - No Celiacs Can Have Soy!
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to srokie's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I never said she was "wrong", I said I was skeptical. Of course, I am skeptical anytime someone makes an all-encompassing generalization about ALL Celiacs. I have often said that I believe there is a great number of Celiacs who have other intolerances, but to make such a sweeping statement without provuiding research, studies or similar studies by other... -
ARCHIVED Immediate Family Members Should Be Tested!
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My mom is a nurse, so she kinda accepted it when I brought it up. She is also a logical and reasonable person. My brothers will be tougher. I can see my eldest brother getting his kids tested before he will. He is the kind of guy that loves Guiness, Pasta, French Bread, etc. My other brother might be easier, but he will still go kicking and screaming... -
ARCHIVED Immediate Family Members Should Be Tested!
VegasCeliacBuckeye posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
She had the blood test and she tested positive for Celiac (at least the gene) . She just had the EGD tests done and is awaiting those... I don't know whether to feel bad or relieved for her... At least now she will want to join me for the Holiday meals and not the family... Bronco -

I am skeptical. This doctor is not even an M.D. -
Yeah, the Wendy's next to my office throws away the bad burgers too. I don't see how they coul keep it - the kitchen is in full view of the customers. The old burgers in the chili is another Celiac Urban Legend. Now, if you do want to be careful and gluten free at wendy's, here is what you do. 1. Ask for the manager. 2. Ask him to make your food...

ARCHIVED Local Celiac Support Group's Leader Makes Me Nervous!
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to Electra's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If it helps, I have asked Lucerne, Kroger, Kraft and Killamook (all companies that make shredded cheese), all of them (at one time or another) have stated that their shredded cheese was gluten free and the celluslose was gluten free. The cellulose thing is a Celiac "Urban Legend"....similar to distilled vinegar, peanut butter and clear liquors. Richard... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Tell The Difference?
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to hannahsue01's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just to add, I also do not vomit when I am glutened. I do vomit when I have the stomach flu... When I am glutened, I usually know it because I have eaten soemthing "questionable", I get a rash (dH), and the stomach cramping is more "pronounced". Not sure how to explain it, but the cramping usually lasts for 3- 12 hours with frequeent trips to the Lou... -

VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to angel-jd1's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Ditto as to what Elonwy said! Sautee the garlic in butter and then add them into th potaoes. If you have a nice big Kitchen Aid Mixer, then the taters will be even better. I use 3 parts sour cream and one part Philly cream cheese and a dash of whipping cream instead of milk... -
I know how you feel Katie. My girlfriend is "supportive" (she could be better about some things), but she says the DH doesn't bother her either. Sometimes I wonder if it does or not...maybe its just insecurity coming out. Either way, it bothers me too. I wouldn't care so much, but sometimes it gets itchy at bed time and I hate waking her up when I can...

ARCHIVED Is Sushi Rice Gluten Free?

ARCHIVED Is Sushi Rice Gluten Free?
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to Anonymousgurl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Its probably Ben-hannas or some other type of Hibachi style restaurant. In any event, I can't help but wonder if there has been some miscommunication between the parties regarding rice, glutrinous rice, fried rice, and sushi rice. All can be prepared differently. Normally sushi rice, contains rice, rice vinegaer, sugar, salt and soemtimes rice wine...
