  1. FYI, I just buy the regular kraft mac n cheese and use the powder (discard the pasta).
  2. Metta, Thanks for the heads up Sadly (or not so sadly), I drink mine fairly quick (as you know). But its good for future reference. BB
  3. I know this won't help you in the short-term, but when I went to Seattle thisnpast weekend. I ate at a place called "DaVinci's Gluten Free Bakery". They had a dessert there called "Banana Heaven" - It was like a banana donut coffee cake. Holy Hell was it good!!!!!!!!!!!! I would see if they can ship you some. they were yummy! www.wheatlessinseattle...
  4. I have taken Dapsone (25 mg - once a day) for the last 10 years. Your doctor might start you out on a higher dose, but he will bring it down as time goes on. The side effects are sunlight sensitivity (you burn easier), hemoglobin issues (just get a CBC every year). It doesn't bother me.
  5. I have had this problem for many years. A doctor recently recommended that I begin taking glucosomine tablets daily. I have taken them for 3 weeks now and have noticed significant improvement in my knees, ankles, shoulders. You can get glucosomine in Wild Oats, Whole Foods, Supplement stores, ect BB p.s. i take an extra strength tablet once in...
  6. I do what I can Seriously, the pizza and the french bread were/are amazing. I am going to make French Toast with the Challah bread this weekend
  7. Well, the trip went well! We arrived in Seattle on Saturday morning and went straight to Da Vinci's Gluten free Bakery and Cafe. WOW They had tons of new stuff - I was in heaven. For lunch, I had their "Sicilian Deep Dish Pepperoni Pizza" - this thing was like 3 inches thick and had the most delightfule crust, tomato sauce and tons of...
  8. Mary Anne, Here is Hormel's gluten free list - it got me through the first couple years I was gluten-free. SHELF-STABLE FOODS Not Containing Gluten Carapelli
  9. Thanks for the advice guys! Much appreciated! I wil def try Thai Ginger on our way back from the hike. Tarnalberry, we don't need a hike that is high in elevation or "difficult". We just like to be out in nature and get some exercise. The gluten-free likes less difficult hikes than I do, so we would prefer a trail that has some nice views/sights/photo...
  10. Your salad likely still had crumbs and thus, gluten in it. Picking off croutons or fried batter pieces is not eating gluten free. Next time, send the salad back.
  11. FYI, Don't eat at TGIF. Its no use - they might as well have their hands soaked in flour batter. You will get sick every time there. Stick with places with gluten free menus. if they don't have a menu, talk to a manager or a chef - NO EXCEPTIONS! Don't put your health in the hands of some 20 year old college kid. Trust me, I was that kid for...
  12. Hey gang, Tiffany and I are attending a wedding in Seattle/Tacoma this weekend. We arrive early on Saturday. I know we are going to Da Vinci's Bakery around 10-10:30 a.m. for breakfast gluten free panini sandwiches (which I love). After that, we are hiking snoqualmmie falls area. Any recommended hikes/trails? We do easy and moderate. We are also...
  13. I emailed them and sent out an email to my las vegas celiac yahoo group to do the same! BB
  14. In actuality, the french fries are the "only" fried item at In N Out Burger. I order mine "cheesy style well done (crispy)"
  15. Wow! How rude and inconsiderate! I have eaten at the Maggiano's in Cincinnati and Las Vegas. Both of these restaurants have catered to the gluten free diet. In fact, both places provided us with gluten free pasta, salads, and desserts! I will call Brinker and act dumb and see if they give me the same treatment... BB

  17. If you are traveling to Arizona, I highly recommend you camp and hike in Sedona. It is one of the most beautiful places in the USA. The camping is cheap of course. Sedona is a town that was built on many native american lands. The "red-rock" hiking is dynamite. There are many "vortexes" down there (places of increased energy/sprirituality that supposedly...
  18. Happy Birthday! I sent you a tin of Altoids in the mail! (Maybe I should have sent them to your husband...)
  19. Nadine, It is imperative that you be vigilant when you eat at Wendy's! You can have the chili - I actually order it with cheese all the time. The fries are a trickyt matter. The actual french fries are gluten free, but the oil and the "fry-scooper" near the heating lamp (where the keep the fries warm after the oil) may not be safe as there are cross...
  20. I am well aware of the risk. I am also well aware of how well I handle myself at a restaurant. Because of my assertiveness, I rarely get sick. The reason I asked her the questions I did was to help her figure out what she may have done wrong. No offense, but all too often Celiacs go to restaurants without calling ahead, without talking to a manager and...
  21. Per 2006 food labeling laws, if the product has one of the common allergens, it must be listed. I am 99% certain it is corn starch (from an email I got from them a couple of years ago) Also, I eat Hillshire Deli meats all the time - no worries! Customer service reps are worthlesshalf the time. Rest assured, Hillshire is a huge company and they wouldn...
  22. FYI, High iodine foods like shrimp, salt and some other types of seafood do cause more severe DH breakouts in some people (like me). I had that problem until I switched from iodized salt to sea salt. I also rarely eat shrimp anymore. BB
  23. What did you order? Which location? I have never had a problem there.
  24. Sami, There are actually a ton of places I have eaten at in Chicago. The restaurant group, "Let us Entertain You" has a number of restaurants around town and they brag about their customer service - I have to admit, they do a damn good job and I really enjoyed their Cafe Ba Reeba restaurant. Also, as long as you pack some gluten free goodies/snacks...
  25. If you get the latest edition of Sully's "Living Without" magazine, they have an entire article on the head chef from Disney and how he helps gluten free families eat at Disney. They sell the magazine at Whole Foods, Wild Oats, ect.
