  1. Picazzo's Pizzeria. there is a Picazzos in Scottsdale and Tempe. www.picazzos.com No trip to AZ is comlete without a stop here. Gluten Free yumminess! My gluten-free and I love going to Sedona - one of the most beautiful places in the country.
  2. FYI, Arby's roast beef is gluten free. I order a few big sandwiches w/o bun and then I have Arby's roast beef for a weekend! The fryers are all contaminated - no safe eating there.
  3. Mamaw, I will have to remind my mother of this conference. She was recently diagnosed and lives in Dayton (Beavercreek). Im sure she will attend. Sadly, I will be in Columbus the following weekend for the Illinois game.
  4. I used to be skinny when I was younger. However, I have been working out regularly for 6+ years now. When I started, I did cycles of creatine and Whey poweder shakes/drinks. Make sure you drink a big shake before you go to bed and when you get up. When I was going for a lot of mass, I ate 2-3 pounds of lean meat (turkey, chicken, ground turkey, sirloin...
  5. I quit smoking last year after being a smoker for 13 gross years. It is a struggle at times (particularly during stressult events or after a few libations). However, the difference now and the other 2000 times I tried to quit is that I really wanted to quit this time. I know it sound simple, but when you really want to quit. You will. For the record...
  6. Thanks Lorka, I appreciate the response! I am having additional blood work done this week. More on this later...
  7. Ok, So I just got my CBC back and my liver enzymes (ALT - SGPT) were elevated in the "high" arena. Score - 59 How worried should I be about this? Is it a sign of liver disease? Hepatitis? Indiciative of someone who takes Dapson daily (I do), normal for Celiacs? FYI, I forgot to fast the night before and did have a Red Briodge or 2 (i know, I...
  8. Kitchen Aide 6 quart is the "Cadillac" of mixers. I have a 4.5 quart and am extremely happy.
  9. Awwww shucks guys, thanks for the compliments. Anything for my Celiac sisters and brothers! BB
  10. I have decided to send Alexis a copy of Dr. Green's book: "Celiac Disease, A hidden Epidemic" as an olive branch of sorts. I understand where Fiddle Faddle is coming from as it pertains to education and the tools necessary to change a person's mind (I routinely advocate being nicer to ignorant restaurant employees and managers, it would seem hypocritical...
  11. My newest response (yes it has more teeth). "Alexis, I understand its difficult for you to understand the plight of common plebians when your family sits atop a billion dollar empire, but let me help you come down from that cloud and understand what "average income" folks go through... 1. We, the people of normal earnings, don't get to eat...
  12. Alexis' response to my letter: "try not going to local chain restaurants...i never do simply because they are disgusting bring a pair of chopsticks wedding food is usually disgusting and your friends should be happy to accommodate your illness I have read plenty and simply think that in the scheme of things there are worse things that can happen at...
  13. Fiddle Faddle, Perhaps you should walk a mile in Mouse's shoes, or Lynn's shoes, or Karen's shoes or many other posters on here who lengthy trials with celiac disease has been considerably more than "a pain in the butt". I will let them deal with your post. BB
  14. I have never reacted to McD's fries, but i only eat them like once a month.
  15. Gosh, thanks for the support guys! I was really heated yesterday, but I am feeling much better today. I was jsut so shocked that she sent such an ignorant and insensitive response. Part me of me thinks she is just doing it to drum up support and controversy for her show's ratings... Thanks again. I love you guys! BB
  16. My response: Alexis, No, its not the worst thing that ever happened to someone, but its not merely a "pain in the butt" either as you label it. First, I have to be conscious of every thing that goes in my mouth. This includes, but is not limited to: lotions (its on your hands and your hands go near your mouth), pharmaceuticals (drug companies...
  17. My post to them is listed on the bottom of this post. Her response is above mine (normal order in e-mails). I normally don't get too riled up at these sort of things, but her response rubbed me the wrong way. Bronco, "hmmm...so you have to eat a wholesome, healthy diet? no processed foods? might be a pain in the butt, but not THE WORST thing...
  18. Just to clarify as this thread is somewhat confusing: In the USA, Smirnoff Vodkas - Gluten Free Smirnoff Ice (malted beverage sold in six packs of 12oz bottles) - NOT GLUTEN FREE
  19. Places in Vegas to eat gluten-free: 1. PF Chang's in Planet Hollywood/Aladdin Casino 2. Outback steakhouse on Las Vegas Blvd. 3. In N Out Burger (all around but one near strip is !-15 and Tropicana) 4. Samba Brazilian Steakhouse in Mirage 5. Fix at bellagio (great Ribeye and lobster mashed potatoes) 6. Burger Bar in Mandalay Bay (Burger...
  20. Take it from a guy who has many years in the food service industry. Get the name and number of the caterer from your cousin. Text her, email her or make a qwuick phone call. Brides are busy, but not so busy that they can't get you a name of a company or a phone number. Call the caterer even if it is Friday. Its 2007 and if a caterer can't accomodate...
  21. I represent the other side. I eat it all the time without incident. Most companies that mass produce bleu cheese cretae the penicullum bacterium in a medium (i.e. not bread). In addition, even if they were to use the bread, I'm not sure how the gluten would remain on the bacterium and subsequently the cheese. Its bacterium, not bread. If you get sick...
  22. Not in a million years. The employees never wash their hands and there is cross contamination everywhere. In fact, I don't see how you could not get sick eating there. Avoid it. Its not worth it. Make your own at home - its simple.
  23. I also love her muffins (taste like tim Horton's) and her english muffins. I hope her business continues to grow so she can sel her stuff in whole foods or something.
  24. Bring Gluten free crackers, gluten-free cookies, gluten-free chips, apples, lara bars, ect.
  25. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the nutritionist. Unfortunately, it is too often of an occurrence. If I can offer some advice, you should buy the book "Gluten Free for Dummies" by Donna Korn. It is the best literature out there for newbies and new parents to Celiac. You can buy it on www.amazon .com Also, you might want to go to Clan...
