  1. Nothing beats Ben & Jerry's Phish Food...the best gluten-free ice cream on the planet!
  2. Winki, In Vegas, they pancake batter disclaimer is located in the menus. Its in tiny print right beneath the omelettes section.
  3. My response: Mr. Miller, While I appreciate your quick response, I consider the content to be of little or no value. Apparently, IHOP is not in the business of being honest and upfront about their products. As a loyal customer with food allergies, I would have hoped for a simple yes or no answer to my earlier query. I think its pathetic that IHOP...
  4. IHOP's Response "Dear Mr. Broncobux: I do understand your concern regarding the importance of obtaining accurate information on our products, for dietary purposes or restrictions. Unfortunately, IHOP is unable to provide detailed information on our menu items. IHOP values the health of our guests and recognizes the need to provide information...
  5. Karen, FYI, The grilled chicken at McDonalds has gluten (wheat in it). From their website... Grilled Chicken Breast Filet: Chicken breast filets with rib meat, water, seasoning (salt, sugar, food starch-modified, maltodextrin, spices, dextrose, autolyzed yeast extract, hydrolyzed [corn gluten, soy, wheat gluten] proteins, garlic powder, paprika...
  6. We had a blast on Saturday. The chef and wait staff did a pretty good job (Chef screwed up the pork loin, but he made up for it with extra creme brulee and massive amounts of sorbet for the group). To be honest, I don't care for the entrees at Maggianos (the gluten free ones). I like the pasta, love the salads, apps and desserts. Chef was nice enough...
  7. 1. Beau Jo's Pizzeria - They serve gluten free pizzas - they are really good. 2. Deby's Gluten Free Bakery & Cafe - a must for any Celiac. The entire restaurant is gluten free.
  8. Without going into to detail, "YES" it is normal for Celiacs to have more bowel movements. It is completely normal.
  9. IHOP does use pancake batter in their omlettes to "make them fluffier". I just ate there the other day and it says it right on the menu (under the omlette section). I emailed IHOP corporate about the corn cake batter - I have my doubts - not to discount anyone, but I have little faith that any chain restaurant has advanced to being able to offer...
  10. Happy Birthday Laura!
  11. "Gluten Free for Dummies" by D. Korn is an excellent book to start with. After that, try "Dangerous Grains" and "Celiac Disease, a hidden epidemic". BB
  12. In the US, most is made from corn. The corn based MFS is safe to consume. If you have any questions or concerns or hesitations, call the manufacturer... (Bronco slowly backs out of thread...carefully looking over his shoulder for suprise attackers).
  13. Ok, so in my neverending quest to eat the foods I enjoyed prior to "the diagnosis", I can relate a success story. I recently acquried a recipe for Bob Evans Sausage Gravy (one of my favs before Celiac). Here is the recipe - I poured it over top Whole Foods Cream Biscuits and nearly cried due to the taste factor - it was amazing and just how I remembered...
  14. Tiff, How does one go about making their own? BB
  15. Hey gang, I am organizing a gluten free meal at Maggiano's here in Las Vegas on June 16, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. I still have some open seats, so I thought I would offer them to the board here as I know there are folks around the Nevada, Arizona and California area that might come in. The price is $33.00 a person (everything included). I have worked with...
  16. I used to make fun of people that paid outlandish amounts of money for Kitchen Aid produts. Now that I am older (and wiser I think), I will only buy kitchen aid products if I can help it. The quality is so much better and they never stop working or seem to get damaged. I was in Williams Sonoma's outlet store the other day and I seriously considered...
  17. I think it depends on the pan. I have some calphalon pans that I am religiously OCD about. There is no scratches and no burn marks on them (so far). If worse came to worse, I would let my roommate use them, but I would clean them like a man possessed. This is an issue that has never really been tested/settled. Its hard for me to believe (though...
  18. You gotta have a pizza stone for your food! It makes pizza SO MUCH BETTER and free from CC..
  19. One of my best friends just got a job as a GM of a Red Robin (used to work for Chili's). He said the "corporate" stores are required by company policy to have dedicated fryers, but the "franchisees" are not required (I have no idea why). Looks like you ate at a "franchisee"...
  20. GFP, Here is what McDonald's says about the fries, "McDonald
  21. Deb, If I said something that was truly offensive to you, I apoogize. It certainly wasn't my intent. It seems to me that you and I have different views on various things associated with Celiac. I am an extremely assertive person and I know that. If I come on too strong or agressively, its not personal, its just how I argue. In this thread,...
  22. Hmmm, I like 1. Rose 2. Jean 3. Marie
  23. Deb, Why are you so defensive? Why take it so personal? Who has ever said that your opinion doesn't count? Quit with the self-pity for crying out loud... If you re-read my post, it is fairly obvious (to me at least) that the question about leaving the house was metaphoric and rhetorical. I was implying that it seems like you are being underinclusive...
  24. I just noticed Scott was #2 on the all time poster list. How does the guy who runs the site not get to be #1? BB p.s. Thanks for the insight on this thread Scott.
