  1. Might have known you'd pick up on that!
  2. 1. FIRST NAME? Patricia 2. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE? Yes--my dad, Patrick 3. WHEN DID YOU LAST CRY? I tear up quite frequently, I'm pretty emotional. 4. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING? Yes 5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT? Ham 6. KIDS? 2 sons ages 21 and 24 7. IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU? Yes...
  3. I'm sorry that you're having such a hard time. A lot of people really just don't understand--I don't blame you at all, but you must not give up! We are all here behind you I have never needed to gain weight, but I feel very strongly that you should do what you need to do to heal your system first--then you will be able to absorb the nutrients (including...
  4. I know someone who had this type of surgery, too. She is in her 60's. In her case, it had nothing to do with Celiac--or any disease.
  5. Hi Toni, I have never been diagnosed with arthritis, but I had severe hip pain (worse upon awakening) and painful, red, swollen joints in my thumb. They did respond to the gluten-free diet, but it took probably closer to 3-4 months before I noticed a difference--especially with the hip pain. I would give it some more time
  6. From a diagnosed Celiac point of view, I am more sensitive to minute amounts the longer I'm gluten-free. I've never knowingly eaten gluten since the Dx, but CC will cause a reaction within about 2 hours. Having said that, I'm noticing that my gluten reactions are not as long as they were at the beginning.
  7. Speaking of rice... I've been off it for a couple months now. I had a bowl of Tinkayda Pasta w/ sauce tonight for dinner. I'm testing myself to see if I can maybe tolerate it once a week or so. In the past, I've had a tendency to eat something, be ok with it, and then proceed to eat it every day. If there's one thing I've learned about myself...
  8. Hi Gina Glad you popped in for a visit! The pictures are great.
  9. I don't even keep wheat flour in my kitchen. The way it gets into the air, where ever it lands, it will contaminate that surface. I think it's too much of a risk, myself. I hope you can find another kitchen (friend, family member) so you won't have to give up doing what you love--if you end up choosing not to bake in your kitchen
  10. I was diagnosed last year on June 2nd at the age of 49. This was after over 20 years of illness and misdiagnoses.
  11. Cara, Sorry you feel kind of stuck in the middle! I read through your link--it's very informative and I find no problem with it at all. In fact, I think another member has the same link posted. I'm glad you're enjoying the board--we're happy to have you here
  12. Yep--I set that one to invisable, too. Just more advertising Ursula--I absolutely love your new picture--it's so cute
  13. Thanks Ursula--that is exactly what I suggested earlier. Asking the question directly is the best way to go here. I had seen this mentioned before, and I thought it best to address it.
  14. Anxiety is much better--I've not had a panic attack at all since gluten-free. Chronic anemia is gone, and I have some color in my skin--I'm not ghostly white any more. My hair, nails, and skin are all very much improved. No more 'mystery bruises', nail ridges and white spots, no more breakouts on my chin. Eczema on eyelids--gone! I...
  15. I only put the reminder about the face rounding out there because it would happen to me even with a short course of the pills. I know Lister gets worried about things easily, so I thought I'd let him know that this is nothing to be alarmed about.
  16. I agree-- I set that post in question invisable yesterday. When I came on, I had a message that that post had been reported. I read it, and deceided to "unapprove" it. All that means is that it is removed it from sight, not actually deleted. Scott is the only one (except the original poster) who can delete a post. He could have deceided to set the...
  17. GFP-- Forgive me if I'm off base here. I don't know exactly what happened with your website--did someone post it, or try and include it in their signature? I don't see a problem with anyone posting a link to it--I've followed the link to it, and I would see no reason to not allow a link. Again, I'm not the last word, of course, Scott is. I...
  18. Lister Please relax, and take the prescription as directed. They will bring down the inflammation in your intestines and hopefully make you feel much better. Years ago, before I (or any of my doctors, evidently) knew about Celiac, I took steroids--pills and injections--and they really did make me feel better. Your face may get puffy/more round looking...
  19. Yes--If they put you out, it's a piece of cake (gluten-free, of course). I had an endo the same day, and woke up feeling fine--not sore anywhere!
  20. I'm gluten, dairy, soy, corn, legume, etc-see below- free and I'm happy I didn't have to give up chocolate
  21. As soon as I read the title of your topic, I knew what it was going to be about! I had to drink the gallon of stuff, too. I used the orange flavoring that came with it, and wanted to gag every time I had to drink another glass. I have no advice except to just get it down. By the last hour or two, I had to absolutely force myself. But I did...
  22. That is absolutely not ok to do! As soon as you fry something with gluten, you contaminate the oil and anything that goes in after will be contaminated. I don't know where thay got that information, but it's incorrect
  23. Hi Lister-- Don't be nervous--use your nervous energy to make a list of all your concerns--that way, you will remember to ask the doctor about all the things that have been bothering you. Good luck with your appt--let us know how you did
  24. I have problems with all legumes. Soy is the worst, I get cramping, gas and nausea. The others--beans, peas, peanuts, green beans, chick peas I can handle once in a while, any more than that causes stomach problems. I have been staying away from them completely until I heal some more. I'm hoping that at some point, I'll be able to eat them more regularly...
  25. I usually take the bandage off before I go to bed that night--same for blood tests.
