  1. Or how about the one with the dancing and singing organs (stomach, etc)--they're happy due to the fiber from a whole grain cereal.
  2. Yea Jen, I have almost a whole bottle left here--I wish we lived closer, I'd give them to you They upset my stomach--I went back to my Centrum.
  3. Darn, I hit the wrong stupid button and lost almost a whole post Rachel--Small world about that man's post! I'm relieved to hear that you didn't get any of the bad side effects from your med. Actually, it looks like the effects are similar to the ones from a conventional antihistimine. That's great I had heavy head and felt the sticky sinus/ear stuff...
  4. Have a good evening, Judy! Good news that the leg is down a little bit--I'm happy to hear that you're going to get your rest, and let everything else wait. I know that's hard to do, but that's the thing about work--it'll wait for you
  5. Sounds like a good plan
  6. Hi Jerry--welcome back! Glad you had a nice vacation. Do you have an appt yet, or are you going to hold off a little longer--I can't remember
  7. Those are the delayed food allergies (intolerances) I was refering to. Keeping a food diary is the best way to keep track of his reactions. That way, you can begin to see a pattern--for example, if he is having D two days after eating a certain food, and it is the same reaction after eating the food several times. This method takes time, but is worth it...
  8. Hi Carla--Here is a thread with some info-- Open Original Shared Link
  9. I'll weigh in here with something my Allergist/Immunologist told me when I asked about having a blood test for food intolerance. He said that once we eat a particular food, we develop antibodies to it. That's why there are so many false positives. He recommends the elimination diet approach. He was not being completely closed-minded, as he told me of...
  10. Vance's Dari Free comes dry, you have to add water to it. I've used it dry, also.
  11. Hi Andrea You're making me hungry
  12. Hi Judy So it's raining over there? It's humid, but sunny here! That could change at any time, though, as they are calling for yet more rain I also use Altoids--a lot of other cough drops and hard candies don't agree with me. They do not have dairy or soy--I checked my box of the Peppermint. Another soothing thing is to warm up some honey and fresh...
  13. Hi Carolyn--I use Vance's Dari Free as a milk sub-- Open Original Shared Link I also use Spectrum Organic Shortening for baking. I most often use olive oil, but if I absolutely need a "butter", I use Smart Balance (not often)
  14. Hi Mandy--Sorry you're feeling miserable I used to get sinus infections, and in addition to the meds the doctor prescribed, I also flushed out my nasal passages. I use an baby ear syringe--found at the drugstore. I mix up a cup of lukewarm water, 1/2 tsp salt and a pinch of baking soda. Be sure to this over a sink! After a while, the water will run...
  15. Hi Laura! Welcome to the board Up until your doctor's appt in August, please do not try to go gluten-free or even "gluten lite"! Eat as you normally would--I know how hard that is after getting a "taste" of feeling better, but to go off gluten, and then right back on again for a test will most likely skew the results. I'm sure you want the best chance...
  16. When I was diagnosed, my doctor told me to begin a gluten-free, dairy free diet. (I had already been dairy free for some time, though).
  17. This is interesting. Mine was measured at 288 about 10 years ago. Last fall, at 6 months gluten-free, it was 213. At that point, I had also been dairy free for 2 years.
  18. I have to laugh, because I eat Ruffles all the time, and if I have an upset stomach, they're one of the foods I can eat that won't make it worse. I eat the Natural ones. But I have no problems with potatoes either.
  19. You are so right--when you have reflux, it's very real! Speaking from my experience, I developed reflux for the first time after being gluten-free for 5 months. This was also roughly the same time a lot of my additional sensitivites became a problem. I went on Prevacid, which helped, but I discontimued it after 3 weeks due to the side effects. Only after...
  20. Although hfcs does not contain gluten, it causes me symptoms because I'm sensitive to corn. Perhaps your friend is, too? Hershey's Kisses are gluten-free, but contain milk products, so that may be upsetting your stomach.
  21. I know it can be hard to wait--I had to wait 4 weeks--I think it just depends on the surgery center or clinic you go to and how they schedule.
  22. Ha--I thought you'd be happy about the weight gain (me, not so happy!). It can make you a little drowsy at first--I was more tired than drowsy. I think they all do to a point. A lot of side effects tend to go away after the first few days, anyway. One thing--the first day you take it, maybe don't plan to drive until you see how it's going to affect you...
  23. I don't trust anyone to prepare food for me! I will be going back to my hometown in 2 weeks for a long weekend. I have already told everyone that I will be bringing all my own food. If there is something there, and I see it being prepared, or I prepare it--I'll eat it. Otherwise, I'll be just fine with the stuff I bring. Lisa, I sort of get the feeling...
  24. I'm excited for you! Even now, sometimes, I hate to admit, I use my Claritan . It's kind of a comfort thing--I think because I relied on it for so long--if that makes sense. I asked my allergist earlier this year if he would write me a Rx for Zyrtek--I wanted to try that and see if it was any better. It was fine, also, but it wasn't worth the $45 co...
