  1. I start to feel a reaction in about 2 hours.
  2. I, too like Living Without--in fact I just bought the new issue at Whole Foods yesterday!
  3. The list is compiled from various sources that are listed on the last page of the link. Any list, and this includes glutenfreedrugs.com can contain outdated info--the best source is the company, itself. I generally email the companies in question--I actually posted a list from McNeil on the board recently that I received from them--not sure if it's the...
  4. I think you are wise to be tested. You seem to have a lot of symptoms that could possibly point to gluten intolerance. Be sure to remain on gluten right up until the test--if you try to go gluten-free before the test, you will skew the result. Your children --eczema, anemia, constipation--those are suspicious symptoms, too. I'm sure that some of the parents...
  5. Armetta--I'm sorry about your Dad--52 is way too young.
  6. The Zyrtek Syrup and the Flosase Spray are gluten-free. You can go here to see these and the others you are wondering about-- Open Original Shared Link
  7. Yes--I agree with this. I was certainly getting the calories , but probably very little vitamins and minerals, etc. Looking back, I was quite unhealthy.
  8. Before I was diagnosed, I would get small blisters on my fingers that sound exactly like what you describe. I would also get the same type of spots on my inner forearm. They would itch, and eventually go away. I didn't know about DH, Celiac or even gluten (as a problem) at the time. I have not had them for as long as I've been gluten-free. I wonder if...
  9. It is certainly possible to be overweight and Celiac. I went undiagnosed for many years--and was 20-25 lbs. overweight most of that time. I was also anemic.
  10. Hi Dan--we don't have one! There was a discussion on this subject a while back. To read it-- Open Original Shared Link
  11. You mean as opposed to an antiperspirant? Then yes.
  12. Hi Jen --I bought Thai Crystal Deodorant Stone. Here's a picture-- Open Original Shared Link
  13. Hi L.A.--welcome! No one is going to throw anything at you--you'll find we're a pretty easy going bunch here To add your reply to a thread, go to the end of that thread, and at the bottom right hit "Add Reply". If you want to reply to a specific post, hit "Reply" at the bottom right of that post. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask away...
  14. I actually got mine at a grocery store! (Shoprite in NJ) Armetta--good to know you are a long time user, and still happy with it
  15. Hi Julie--So you deceided to take the plunge . To begin, I would suggest a foundation, mineral veil, a blush, and maybe the bisque. I think those would take the place of what you currently use (your foundation, powder and blush)--and then you could try other things when you get the feel of the products. For the colors, I believe they have descriptions...
  16. Funny you should bring this up! Last week, I started using a crystal deodorant--the only ingredient is mineral salts. You wet it, and rub it on. It dries almost immediately, and that's it. It is pretty warm and humid here right now, and it lasts right up until I take a shower the next morning--that's better than the conventional deodorant I was using...
  17. OMG--I know just what you mean!!! Lately, I've been seeing a comercial for KFC, where they are advertising a bowl of mashed potatoes, covered with fried chicken nuggets, corn, cheese and gravy. Now, any one of those ingredients would cause me pain, and it not something that I even probably would have gone for before--but it looks SO DARN good
  18. Ursula--so sorry about the pears! Definately try them cooked--with Oral Allergy Syndrome, it is possible to have the symptoms with a raw fruit, veggie or nut, but not if the food is cooked. I learned this from my allergist--I thought I had an almond allergy, but it turned out to be OAS--and I can eat roasted almonds fine, but the raw ones are the ones that...
  19. Hi DrMom (love that name!) and welcome to the board Nausea and stomach pain are both symptoms of Celiac. Nausea was my very first (and for a long time the only) symptom. Even now when I get a gluten reaction, I will get nausea and pain, in addition to the D. The damage that happens in Celiac Disease happens in the small intestine, but we can have...
  20. Carrie, Mamatide and Nikki--I'm so sorry that you have to go through those long wait times. It's not enough that you or a loved one is sick, and you're desparate to find out why--it is so unfair the way you have to wait so long for an appt. You are all in my thoughts
  21. I went off dairy 2 years ago primarily because of my sinus problems but also to see if it would help my stomach. With the exception of spring allergies, I have not had any sinus problems since.
  22. Pacific Brands Rice and Almond Milks are also gluten-free. I understand the anxiety--I had it for years, sometimes panic attacks. It is a symptom that always comes back when I am glutened--and takes the longest to resolve. After a year gluten-free, I still have anxiety kind of just under the surface--I constantly just deal with it. Because I have seen...
  23. Hello Caeli! I have not seen you post here in a while. Hope your healing is going well. Regarding drug effectivness, I have high blood pressure and take medication for it daily. As I have just passed the 1 year gluten-free mark, I am finding that my BP is lowering! My doctor has me monitoring it myself at home with a wrist monitor between appointments...
  24. Thanks--I've never noticed it, but will look for it the next time! Sounds great
