    ARCHIVED Quote Of The Day

Jillian--You'd think that just a little common sense would be in order! Unbelieveable
  2. This is sounding better all the time!!
  3. Don't you love the know-it-all! Seems like there's one in every group/family. Usually with no apparent health problems, so they can't relate and oh so happy to "set you straight"!
  4. I agree on the SLS--I am currently looking for a toothpaste that does not contain it (and gluten-free, too). All of the Tom's toothpastes I've checked have it--which ones don't? I did find a brand--Jason--that is SLS free. I called that company, and was told that any gluten ingredients would be clearly listed. It comes in quite a few flavors--I'm planning...
  5. Interesting--I have slightly discolored teeth--blamed on Tetracycline taken as a child. (only took it once) Page 192--Appendix D of Dangerous Grains states that "83 % of Celiac adults with Celiac-type color and structural defects, horizontal grooves, and/or vertical pits on one or more permanent teeth."
  6. I'm getting excited!!!!!
  7. Yes--both. I have a tooth--a left molar, that hurts like heck if I bite down on it the "wrong"way.. It has been x-rayed and there is nothing wrong--but sometimes--without warning--I get that pain you describe, too. I suspect that it's changed the way I bite down because 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with TMJ. The pain had moved to my jaw. The dentist made...
  8. It would be great if we could find a way to get together! I am afraid to go on a cruise --my anxiety has improved, but not that much! If the convention was on dry land, and I could get there by car, I would be there . I'll be happy to help any way I can to make it happen.
  9. We have the exact same allergies. Something I found interesting--I had allergy testing about 10 years ago. At the time, I was highly allergic to cats--so much so that the doctor suggested giving up the cat, or taking shots. (I did neither--look to your left, he's still here!) Anyway, I had testing again last month, 9+months gluten-free, and I only tested...
  10. I agree with the others--there's really not much a doctor can do right now. My best advice would be to go over your diet and make sure you are not getting any hidden or CC gluten. Do the same with your personal care products. Eating out early on is not a great idea, either. I would hold off on that for a while. I did not even begin to feel better until...

    Yea--mine too! Imagine that
  12. I think it's only fair that I start blaming everything on the gluten--after all, look what it's put me through . Gluten--consider the tables turned!

    ARCHIVED Quote Of The Day

I hear ya on the upper resperatory infections--for literally years, doctors told me that the cause of my symptoms were sinus infections. This, despite the lack of any nasal symptoms. I took so many antibiotics that I'm allergic to all but one strain now. I also took many rounds of steriods--both oral and by injection. This went on for years. Two years...
  14. Hi Erin--I had some problems with this long before I knew I had Celiac. The first time was when my top front tooth suddenly chipped--I was just eating normally. I had never damaged it or anything--it just chipped. I had to have it bonded. The other instances were a broken wisdom tooth--it got infected, and I had it pulled, and I have another molar that...
  15. Actually, the jury's still out on it for me. I am currently working with an allergist who is holding off diagnosing asthma until he sees how I do on the meds. For now, he's calling what I have bronchial spasms brought on by reflux.
  16. Rose--I think I'm seeing this too late to wish you luck.. I am keeping you in my thoughts today--hope all goes smoothly, and you finally get this thing figured out! Feel better--let us know how you did
  17. Wow celiac3270--that looks great! Thanks for posting it
  18. Now the cat is out of the bag, so to speak
  19. With oral allergy syndrome, sometimes it is possible to still eat the food--only cooked. It's not really an allergy--it's closer to contact dermatitis, affecting usually only the lips, mouth and tongue. I have some information on it from my allergist--I can post more if you want to see it. I have it with raw almonds.
  20. Kasey's Mom--If it's not too much trouble, if you can find it, I would love the ice cream recipe using the Vance's. I emailed them recently about recipes, but did not hear back. Thanks
  21. I think you're right, Guhlia--it looks like all corn to me.
  22. Also, at Wendy's and any other place that bakes their potatoes in foil--I ask that they not cut into the potato at all. Don't know where the knife has been
  23. Lauren--What a great idea--
  24. Hi Nicki--I wouldn't use it, and here's why. When I was first on the gluten-free diet, I had no idea I had to check my products for gluten. I was using a hair gel at the time that contained wheat starch. About 2 months into it, I was feeling better, but not completely--every afternoon, I would get D. When I found this board and learned I should check...
