  1. Thanks Debbie--that was interesting!
  2. Ursula--Of course I would call to check for sure, but I know their truffles contain gluten--it is clearly listed in the ingredients (my husband loves them). I would think they would list the same way for the chocolate--but who knows?
  3. Hi Kessea--Welcome! So glad you found us. Hopefully, you've had a chance to read through some posts, and come away with some useful information. This board is an absolute wealth of info. on everything from the gluten-free diet to dealing with friends and family about the disease. Feel free to jump in with questions or suggestions--there's a great group...
  4. Jen--Thanks for explaning that--I had often seen people posting about a co-op, and had never heard of it. How would I find out if there was one in my area?
  5. I recently ventured out to Friday's for lunch w/ husband and son--haven't eaten out in a long time. I explained my situation and needs to the manager (who came to the table at my request) and the waitress. He said "so, no sugar, right?"--I told him "no", and repeated "gluten" and where it could be found. He then told me I needent worry--"our grill heats...
  6. Cheri--Hi! Yes, I do enjoy it--thanks again for letting me know about it. WF and Wild Oats here don't carry it, either. I printed out some info. off of their website and gave it to the owner of my local health food store. I hope she will try and carry it. I would be nice to avoid the shipping.
  7. Betty--I get the cold sweating in my feet and hands. I don't connect mine to gluten, but it does happen when my stomach is upset. I get stomach upset often, even though I know I am not getting any gluten. I had a great deal of tingling and numbness--from my face all the way down my left side and both lower legs and feet. Gradually, over months, it got...
  8. There are no stores in my area (central/south jersey) that carry it. I called Vance's to place my latest order, and the woman checked the 2 area codes closest to me--and nothing came up. She told me that they are a very small co. and their business is mostly word of mouth right now. The best thing to do would be to call them, and ask them to check for...
  9. I know--but it's like everything else that won't make us sick--expensive
  10. You know what else is good, and you can get it at the regular grocery store--Whole Fruit Sorbet. It comes in several flavors and is gluten-free/cf.
  11. Sis--That sounds terrible. Good luck with everything
  12. Hi Nicole--Sorry you got glutened--it happens to the best of us . I don't think a week is enough time on gluten to make a difference in a biopsy, when you've been completely off of it for a while. Did you find out you were gluten intolerant by blood testing? If so, that is a diagnosis right there--also, the positive response to the gluten-free diet is...
  13. Gosh Vincent--you're such a GUY!!
  14. Rusla--That was a lovely thought
  15. I'm pulling for ya, Smacky--you're almost out of the woods!!
  16. Wow--Your doctor sounds great--and thorough! Keep us posted on the results
  17. Hi Mango--Thanks for posting that! I love Stash--just got some on sale at Wegman's--2/$5. Ps--Happy birthday!
  18. I would like to second everything that Karen said. If you take some time and really read through this and other threads, you will find that the people here are among the kindest, most knowledgeable people on the planet on the subject of Celiac Disease. We speak from experience. Many of us have been sick for years and years. Some for not as long. We try...
  19. Charlie--I personally don't think that it's a bad idea to have the blood intolerance testing. At least it would give you a starting point. I also very strongly agree that some of the reactions are due to the intestinal healing. I considered having a blood test done by an independant lab--frankly, I went the allergist route first because it was covered...
  20. I've been using California Baby Super Sensitive lately, and I really like it. It also contains no sodium laurel sulfate--which I like.
  21. Butterfinger is a Nestle product and they will clearly list any gluten ingredients, as well as any CC concerns. All you have to do is read the labels. Dove light and dark chocolate are also gluten-free.
  22. Hi Laura--welcome! My first thought when I read your post is that from the looks of your tests, you have it. Celiac is often misdiagnosed, but that's because it is usually mistaken for something else, like IBS. One possibility as to why you still don't feel well is that you may have other food intolerances. Many times, when gluten is removed from the...
  23. This is my experience so far with this thing. I have had terrible reflux/gas since December. I saw my GI in Feb. and he seemed uninterested and told me to take an over the counter gas med. This only gave limited relief--not worth taking a pill for. I also tried digestive enzymes, but they didn't do too much for it after a while. I saw a new allergist...
  24. Tiffany--Isn't it great, though, that she's really getting into it! Sometimes it feels like I'm speaking a whole new language
  25. Actually, that's why I had the allergy tests to begin with. I knew that they wouldn't tell me a thing about intollerances--I wanted to make sure I wasn't truly allergic to the nuts, etc. The scratch tests are good for that. I have many intollerances, such as corn, soy and dairy--but I am not allergic to any foods that I know of. My dr also said that...
