  1. Robix--That IS something! I wish the best for all three of you
  2. I used to get tonsillitis frequently in my late teens and during my 20's. Whats strange about that is that those are the (only) years I didn't have any stomach problems that I can remember.
  3. Hi Rose--It will all work out! You just have so much to deal with right now all at once. Sending good thoughts and a hug your way
  4. Yep--I agree with Ursula. Just get back on the gluten-free track and feel better
  5. I love the shimmers, too! I have several colors
  6. Minute Maid Orange Juice (100% juice) is gluten-free. I know Jolly Ranchers are also, but I don't know of any hard candy mints. There are long lists of safe candy on here--did you try a search?
  7. Carol--I just pinned your topic. Oatmeal is a topic that not everyone agrees on. My opinion is that I won't eat it--there is a good chance of cross contamination, and even with pure oats, there are some Celiacs that will react to the protein in the oats. For now, I would suggest you not eat them. Cream of Rice is good--topped with whatever you like--gluten...
  8. Hi Mike--I got a prescription for Nulev from my GI for cramping. This was early on, when I was first going gluten-free and was still having problems. He told me that Nulev is what they use in their practice for people who have cramping after procedures. It works--although I tried to not use it too much. What a caring husband . I hope Darcy is feeling...
  9. Hi Carol--and welcome! Your other post is now pinned--sometimes it takes a little while before a moderator will see a new post, read and pin it.
  10. Danielle--That's great to hear! Good luck at your appt
  11. Chelsea--Sorry you're feeling crummy --a similar thing happened to me. After I went gluten-free last June, after getting the diet and everything else in place, I had several months where I felt good--I thought if I just kept doing this, I'd be fine. Well...around mid December, some of my old symptoms came back--D, brain fog, nausea, painful digestion....
  12. I didn't mean to imply that you don't have Celiac. I have Celiac, and also have eczema. I, too used to get the steroid injections--Decadron. Felt great, until it wore off. I'll be dealing with the long-term side effects of those for the rest of my life. The cream I suggested is useful for all kinds of dermatitis. Hope you find some relief soon
  13. Thanks for posting, as I'm sure a lot of the newer members may not be familiar with it. I have also used the factsheet to show to relatives--for all the good it does me!
  14. There are some hard candies and cough drops that are not safe--maybe you could send a bag of candy in that you have verified gluten-free to be used for those times. Same thing with oj--those should be checked, too.
  15. Hi Danielle--I hope by the time you read this, you are beginning to feel better! That feeling is the awful--we've all been there, so we understand what you are saying. It's frusterating when family dosen't seem to get it. Now that they've seen how sick you can get over an accidential exposure to gluten, hopefully it will "hit home" with them. Glad you...
  16. I get red blood sometimes, too--the doctor found internal hemmorhiods during my colonoscopy. The bleeding, for me, is a result of irritation from D. I find that a gluten reaction can cause it, or eating something acid like tomatoes will do it, too. Any unexplained bleeding should be checked out by your doctor--just to be safe
  17. Either way, you're welcome here anytime!
  18. You may be absorbing more now that you're gluten-free. So the same amount of alcohol would seem like more .
  19. Johnson's Softlotion Creamy Moisturizing Oil is gluten-free--and nice, not greasy. California Baby's Sensitive Body Lotion is good, too.
  20. Lisa--I can imagine how hard it is for you to stay strong, considering. That is a lot of weight on your young shoulders. I'm sending you good thoughts and hugs--please always feel free to come here and talk to us--we care about you
  21. That was very interesting. They feel that the cereal grains in the diet are causing illness because those grains are not found in the animal's natural habitat. I think those principles can be applied to humans, too. Personally, I do much better on the so called "caveman" type diet. Thanks for posting that!
  22. gfp--Geesh--you could have been talking about me there in your last post! I developed reflux (bad enough to cause palpitations, acid reflux, pressure all the way up to collarbone, hiccups, breathing difficulties, etc.) I'm sure as a result of Celiac. My GI said it was gas, and to take Phazyme--he did NOT write it down, he was too busy closing my folder...
  23. Judy--Debbie's right, the doctor is an a$$. I can't stand that kind of arrogance. If they don't know the answer to something, why can't they just say so, instead of getting all high and mighty like it's your fault for asking. And saying you can't have something just because you're not sitting there drinking water is the same as telling a Celiac is all...
  24. If it turns out not to be DH, it sounds a lot like my eczema. Have you ever tried the prescription creme called Elocon? It helped me greatly.
  25. Claire--I wasn't able to access it.
