  1. WOW--I just did it and Celiac came up #1! Let's see, it took doctors (and me) 20 years--this survey took about 30 seconds--something is so wrong with that
  2. My doctor did give me antispasmotics--I have Neulev and Pamene. I thought those were for the D type cramping? Moongirl--it does help a little bit--kind of gets the gas moving.
  3. My GI, as he was closing my folder and heading towards the door, told me it was gas in my upper abdomen and to take Phazyme. I asked my GP the last time I was in and she nodded in agreement and said Phazyme is what she would suggest, too. So, there ya go--I won't be much help. But I would also be interested in what others have to add.
  4. You could also get The Gluten Free Pantry Pie Crust Mix, use half for your pot pie, and freeze the other half for the next pie! It is very good
  5. Chelsea and Vincent--you both sound like my son--try the tablets!
  6. Yes--I never was troubled with reflux before. I've been gluten-free since last June and started having the reflux/gas/burning in December.
  7. Ravenwood--Good points! The drug companies actually have a lot to lose with us--better to stick with doctors, government reps and the insurance companies, who could definately benefit.
  8. Armetta--Just want to tell you that if you go with the Carlson's Cod Liver Oil, the taste is really not bad at all. If you took it plain (unflavored) as a child, this is nothing like that--just kind of a light lemon flavor--not fishy at all. Ursula--I always look forward to reading your posts--you're so well informed!
  9. Vincent--It could be a lactose problem. My 21 year old son is lactose intolerant. He can eat cheese and yogurt with no problem. He needs to use Lactaid with milk and ice cream. You have nothing to lose--why don't you try it the next time you have milk.
  10. Yea--sounds like they're trying...
  11. Ms SS--Darn, if I lived in Florida, I would join your club! We could meet on Sunday nights--around 7:30 and then stick around and have a Sopranos party afterwards Really--good luck with it!
  12. I can tell the difference--gluten causes my anxiety to rev up, lightheadness, irritatability, fatigue, and neuropathy along with the D. I have additional food intolerances--I know because every time I eat the particular food, I get a different, but consistant reaction--lower cramping and stomach pain. By keeping a log of what I eat, and how I feel has helped...
  13. Welcome to the board! I am really glad that you found the source of your symptoms. If more GP's and GI's took your sensible approach, just think how that would benefit the people who have been suffering for years with many of the Celiac symptoms--but no one to 'connect the dots'. My story is that I began having nausea and dizziness in 1984--shortly after...
  14. I agree with everyone--when you FINALLY get in to see the GI, have ready a list of things you want checked out. I know you have a hard time getting into a doctor. You know you can come in here anytime and rant--we are concerned about you. I feel so bad about what happened at school. I had to quit a job that I loved because of my symptoms. I know you...
  15. Yes--and it also is different for me at different times of the month . When I'm coming back from a gluten reaction, when the nausea lifts, I always have the urge to go more. A lot of things can affect it.
  16. I remember reading a while back that someone else got cash back when they complained about getting sick.
  17. Hi--you could have a slight sore throat after, I did not. I had no problem with the procedure at all. I was completely out (I had a colonoscopy done the same day)--and remember nothing much after the IV went in. I woke up feeling rested and a little groggy. By the time I drank an apple juice and rested a few minutes, I was fine to get up and get dressed...
  18. I don't have DH. but I do have eczema. The Elocon is really good--it brings down a flare up of the eczema in a day or two. My GP prescribed it.
  19. Chelsea--Sorry you're feeling so bad today . It's really maddening to be going along just fine and then--bam! I don't have any input on the Amy's--haven't tried any of them as the stories of CC have scared me off Feel better!
  20. Yes Vincent--exactly like that! But I was really answering the question of whether or not it had casein. I wanted to be sure and describe the box so there was no misunderstanding.
  21. I wish I could find this in some of the other flavors--coconut dosn't like me. My Whole Foods only has the coconut. I eat the Whole Fruit sorbet that I get at the reg. grocery store. The ingredients look ok, but I have an email out to them to make sure.
  22. Yea Ev--that ship has sailed for me, too!
  23. Hi Linda--No, unfortunately, corn is out, too. Liz--I've never used arrowroot--is it related to tapioca? Anyway, thanks--I may just try the sorghum, almond and potato starch and see what happens. Maybe mix up enough for one recipe, and at least I'll have the individual flours to use for other things.
  24. Terps--I just got back from WalMart--my hairdryer conked out on me today . Anyway, I read the Cocoa Puffs label--it had a date of 2006 under the address and did not list any allergens. I looked thru the ingredients and did not see anything that would indicate dairy or gluten. The box said 'more chocolatey taste' on the front.
  25. Shirley, Please accept my sympathies on the loss of your friend. I know this is a very difficult day for you. Take care.
