  1. Hi deananga and welcome! Soy flour would be safe from a gluten standpoint--it's gluten-free. There are other gluten-free flours though--rice, tapioca, potato, buckwheat, almond--to name a few. A lot of people find that a mix of gluten-free flours work best. Here are some samples of what I mean-- Open Original Shared Link Good luck with...
  2. Mine is like this one--only older and cobalt blue Open Original Shared Link
  3. I have a Waring--have had it for at least 15 years. It's the heavy duty-bar type. It was not cheap--around $100 then, but I will most likely never need to buy another one.
  4. I don't get it
  5. I take calcium lactate from Standard Process. I called to make sure, and was told it was gluten-free.
  6. Wow--glad you found out for sure!
  7. I have read they do this in Italy, for sure.
  8. This is great to know--thanks for checking on it Claritan gets expensive--and the Zyrtek has a co-pay with our insurance of $45!!
  9. That's great news! We have a Shoprite (a big new one) not far from here. We just got a Wegmans about 3 weeks ago, but it's a little further away. Love both stores! Thanks for sharing
  10. I don't know about the casein, but Claritan is gluten-free.
  11. Hi Lillyth--Welcome! Your doctor can do the testing--tell him/her that you want the complete Celiac Blood Panel. Yes, you do need to be on gluten before the test. Good luck!
  12. Thanks guys about all of the Chick Fil A info. We have them here, and I never would have thought I could eat there!
  13. I am almost positive that the GFP Cake and Cookie Mix is lactose free. It makes the best white cake--better than any "regular" cake I've ever had. I use it to make pineapple upside down cake that is yummy.
  14. Before I was gluten-free, I did not sleep for more that 2-3 hours at a time all night long. I was always exhausted and sick. Right after I began the diet, I suddenly could sleep deeply all night--8-9 hours straight. I felt like I could not get enough sleep. That lasted for about 4 months.
  15. Erin--Thanks for posting that article
  16. This is what I heard on the show yesterday--she said she made her daughter a gluten free cake for her 1st. birthday. Kind of under her breath (quietly) she said because of my allergy. Joy Behar then said--why did you make her a gluten-free cake?--it's YOUR disease. Elizabeth answered--well, they told me I should wait a year before introducing her to it...
  17. The omlette cooked in a clean pan is a must. As far as the buffet--I would ask if they could put a few things (that you choose from the buffet offerings) on your plate in the kitchen, using a clean utensil. That way, you won't run the risk of CC from the buffet spoons etc.
  18. Nope--if you feel great on the diet, there's nothing that a specialist can do that being gluten-free can't. The diet is the only treatment for Celiac. Glad to hear you're doing so well
  19. I get this, too. Very aware of my heart beating. Makes me very nervous. My GP said that this symptom alone is not a reason to worry--but I kinda still do. I never had it before I was diagnosed Celiac--sick as I was, I didn't have the palpatations. After I was gluten-free for several months, I developed reflux and the palpitations started up at about...

  21. Liz--Wow, that's amazing! I wish I had known about that years ago . BTW--thanks for the rec. for Sharon's Sorbet--I bought the mixed berry flavor--so good
  22. This is probably no help at all, but I get terrible cramping and D from tapioca flour (starch). I noticed it was in your ingred. list. Just throwing out another thought....
  23. Vincent--I see you're having some fun experimenting! I don't drink it straight, either--but I was not much of a milk drinker to begin with. The smoothie sounds good--I've been meaning to try that. I do like the creamier consistancy, though. Not as watery as rice or almond. Try it the next time you bake something--good. Also dry as a "creamer" in hot...
  24. I would tend to agree with Vincent--reflux is common among infants, and most grow out of it by 1 year. My oldest son had reflux from birth until he was about a year--and it stopped. He seemed to be sensitive to certain juices, and some disposible diapers. There was a fair amount of trial and error in figuring out what was right for him. (He is now 25...
