  1. Try Open Original Shared Link. Just be aware that many doctors in their ignorance won't acknowledge the validity of their testing.
  2. Lux, for most people it takes more than a week off gluten to start feeling better. Plus, you might right now be suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Because gluten will act on some people's brains like an opioid, they also suffer from withdrawal symptoms as if going off an illegal drug when starting the gluten-free diet. Those symptoms often last about two...
  3. First of all, it isn't the starch that is the problem at all that is making people sick. Through bio-engineering scientists have increased the amount of gluten in wheat to be now about 60 times what it used to be just over a hundred years ago. Gluten is hard to digest, and that much gluten puts so much stress on the system that it makes people sick. Celiac...
  4. I agree, with those results it is pretty obvious the little guy has celiac disease. If he responds well to the diet, you'll have your definite answer. Just make sure you remove all dairy and soy from his diet as well, at least for the first few months.
  5. Ken, I am sorry that you now have to deal with this. But at least you have an answer to your problems, and your family's problems. Are your twins still breastfed? I guess your wife will need to be on the candida diet together with you. You will all need probiotics (you can get infant probiotics to be mixed into either formula or breast milk), to get your...
  6. I am glad that Owen is so much better. I agree, the pictures tell the story.
  7. Yes, I would retain a lot of water and had really swollen ankles, sometimes my whole leg would be swollen. I also had swollen hands and joints.
  8. I agree with Lisa. If your doctor thinks that 6 weeks off wheat won't effect your celiac disease blood panel, add him to the list of clueless doctors (unfortunately, there are very few doctors that have a clue about celiac disease). Because it would DEFINITELY make a difference. Your blood test was useless as a result and means NOTHING! All of your symptoms...
  9. Thank you, yes, he is gorgeous, of course. It is quite possible that celiac disease is the culprit, as there is no doubt that it can and will cause reproductive problems (I am sure it caused my eight miscarriages). But the problem is that once you have cysts, they may not go away with just a gluten-free diet. I hope you get your answer.
  10. It sure sounds to me like you are gluten intolerant. You would be wise to try a completely gluten-free diet for at least a couple of months to find out if it resolves your health problems. I understand that it is a big lifestyle change and hard to commit to. But isn't your health worth it?
  11. I say, whether it is caused by celiac disease or not, it would be wise to go to see your OBGYN about this, since he is the one who is the specialist for things like ovarian cysts. Make sure you obtain and take a copy of your scan results when you go.
  12. Lisa, do you have any friends where you are? It might be a good idea to have somebody with you when she gets there tonight, for your protection. If she threatens you and gets abusive you would have every right to call the cops and have her kicked out of your apartment sooner than the end of February.
  13. It is irrelevant if you call it celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. Many doctors and scientists want the distinction removed. Celiac disease (the official explanation for it) with villi damage is just ONE manifestation of gluten intolerance. Everybody who is intolerant will react to it in a slightly different way. It seems that in the end, everybody will...
  14. Lisa, what a nightmare! I am glad you're finally getting out of this miserable relationship with this awful roommate from hell . I hope that once you live on your own that you will be able to concentrate better on your studies and get better grades. And I bet once you are not under so much stress that your health will improve as well.
  15. I haven't done testing, either. After doctors treated me like a hypochondriac for fifty years and feeling rotten, I eliminated gluten and it is obvious that I am intolerant to it. I get the obvious symptoms now when I get glutened by mistake. You are right in thinking that every one of the symptoms you and your family display could be caused by gluten...
  16. Yikes, I didn't know this information! I have tested allergic to birch, and now I understand why in the spring I can't seem to tolerate carrots and pears (I am intolerant to potato and the other fruits no matter what), when other times of the year I seem fine with them. Pears are the only fruits I can normally eat without a problem, but last spring I developed...
  17. Actually, that is what happened here, too, I found out today. She was ready to push long before they allowed her to, because they weren't ready! When finally they gave her the go-ahead, she pushed twice, and he was out. Such an easy birth, most people can only dream of that!
  18. Well, we went and saw this new baby. He is the sweetest thing! With dark hair and dark eyes, going completely cross-eyed trying so hard to look at people. He is one of those babies who makes those little cute noises all the time. He weighed 8 lb, 2 oz when born, and is 20 1/2 in long. I had a hard time leaving again, he is so adorable. His mom is doing...
  19. Well, I've talked to my son. Yes, the baby's name is Elijah, Eli for short (with an i, not a y). He has hair, John didn't know how long he is (and didn't really care). I will go in about an hour to see them. Abby and Eli are the only two grandchildren who live close by, unfortunately. Zoey and Sophia are a 4 1/2 hour drive south-west from here, and...
  20. Connie, why wouldn't you get protein with your dinner if you eat pasta? When I said white sauce, I meant white MEAT sauce, of course! Or you could make a nice pasta salad, and you can put tuna into that. Pasta casseroles can be great as well. You can eat potatoes if you eat eggs instead of meat for supper. Who says you can eat eggs only for breakfast...
  21. Well, I actually have no clue as to the rest of the stats. My youngest daughter answered the phone when her brother called this afternoon. We had a full house of visitors, and I didn't get a chance to talk to him. And the second time he called when I was already in bed, and my husband answered the phone. And guys couldn't care less about those things....
  22. Our second-oldest daughter and her family were visiting for the weekend, bringing our youngest daughter (who now lives with them for various reasons) home, because Susie and I were participating in a recital (Susie takes voice- and I recorder lessons). My daughter has tested wheat intolerant at some point (I am sure she is not just wheat, but gluten intolerant...
  23. My son and his wife (who was due in two weeks, but it was a good guess, as she didn't have her period in between kids) went to church, even though my daughter-in-law thought she was probably in labour. It was the once-a-month pizza lunch (right, I eat when I get home), and they stayed. Finally, my daughter-in-law tells our visiting son-in-law that she...
  24. IVs contain glucose made from corn, which is a problem for people intolerant to corn. But they don't have gluten.
  25. I think it would be a good idea to find a pediatrician who has other patients with celiac disease and understands about it. It will save you a lot of hassles in the long run. Otherwise you will fight an uphill battle every time you have to take your son to the doctor, constantly having to educate the doctor, and possibly having to fight him on decisions....
