Hello and welcome i tested negative for celiac but was advised to be gluten free for life due to my reaction to the gluten challenge. It affects me in a lot of ways but digestive is not in any way my main symptom. about a year in to gluten free I switched cereal brands to one which I thought had a 'safe' level of barley malt. Within a very short...

ARCHIVED Confusing Test Result
Jmg replied to Grumpopotamus's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My only worry reading this is that you could actually have celiac or if not non celiac gluten sensitivity, and if so going gluten lite just won't cut it. I know you find the idea of the diet daunting, but do consider trialling it, even just for a couple of weeks.- 21 replies

ARCHIVED "weak" celiac disease?
Jmg replied to Morisith's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi! and welcome to the forum They may have been 'weak' but they were still positive for celiac. It could be that they caught it in the earlier stages or just the way that your own body presents - you'll find that individual cases vary wildly. That said, you do still have to treat it seriously and don't let the 'weak' diagnosis fool you into thinking... -
Great! Check that list that I linked to, there is a lot you can eat at aldi, not all of it is marked gluten free. the snack write crisps are ok, also the tortilla chips and salsa. Creme caramels are nice too. They do a version of magnum ice creams that are safe. and don't forget there are some regular bars you can eat, as long as you can have dairy...

Try to stay positive. Each negative test does at least give your doctors information, because sometimes its only through a process of exclusion that they can come to the right answer. What are you eating at the moment? Are you taking any supplements? -
Hi Stephen and welcome That's a Lidl brand yes? I think they're ok, it's awhile since I ate one but I don't recall any issues. I know for certain that the Aldi Moser Roth equivalents are gluten-free and they're really good so if there's an Aldi near you check them out: Open Original Shared Link I have to say Lidl aren't as good at helping...

Contains: Sulphur Dioxide/Sulphites ... Histamine was another, apparently pear ciderOpen Original Shared Link You... -

I have, well, some of them... Have to say on taste grounds I've not found a soy yogurt I much like as yet. Plus I think I tolerate yogurt pretty well, certainly better than dairy milk which I no longer have, I have the coconut stuff instead. Some of this is cost and convenience based as well. Summer is approaching here and life without ice cream would... -
Why thank you I only wish I'd found love when I was in Ireland. That's a lovely accent.

New To This! Any Celiacs/gluten Free In Uk?
Jmg replied to Emma-jane88's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
So the coeliac gluten free week is almost upon us. The latest Aldi catalog has some gluten free stuff, but it's not on the shelves yet. There's bread mixes, gluten-free beer, some ilumi ready meals, which are very handy to have in the cupboard: http://www.ilumiworld.com/shop/meals.html and some dessert bars that I've not seen before. There's also some of... -
ARCHIVED Safest UK coffee/sandwich and fast food outlets?
Jmg replied to rarchy's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
One treat for me these days is sitting in a Micky D's with a coffee, large fries and a strawberry sundae. With all the 'Normal' people If only they knew I was in their midst, aghast at their glutenous ways. Seriously, it's nice to have at least one fast food option. There's a small chance of contamination there maybe but I've been fine so far. -

Jmg replied to Charli61's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi and welcome I must say I read your post with some surprise. Even understanding the science behind the product I'm surprised you've used it for outright gluten consumption as opposed to safeguarding against possible contamination. Can I ask what your usual gluten symptoms are and how sensitive you'd assess yourself as? I'd also be interested in what... -
ARCHIVED Did Japan's ANA Airlines Really Give a Single Banana as a Gluten-free Meal?
Jmg replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
I'd much rather be given the banana than an air hostess worried about headlines like this gives me something with gluten in it. -

I allow myself occasional yogurt and ice cream and the small amount of milk in some processed foods, so I'm not strictly speaking dairy free but too much dairy goes to my skin. I pigged out on milk chocolate awhile ago and found that wasn't an option either... That said, it's heaps better than it was. I had awful flaking scalp, rash on chest, spots on... -

Just as long as you don't pay any attention to the nonsense they're actually saying I used to LOVE being in a bar in Cali and an amazing looking girl saying those words that every guy wants to hear: 'Hey I love your accent' Doesn't happen so much over here I'm a big, how can I put it, Americanophile? ARCHIVED New celiac and Depression?
Jmg replied to 6throundpick's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hello and welcome to the forum Did you have any celiac testing prior to going gluten free? When I lived in California I was always surprised by how much some things were, like bread for instance whilst huge cuts of meat seemed really cheap. It was only when I returned I realised that the European systems of food subsidies affected prices of grain based foods whilst all the growth hormones in US beef presumably made it cheaper to produce (I could... -
