  1. Just describe your symptoms, say that someone has suggested you get your blood sugar levels checked and they shouldn't have a problem with it. Fwiw, I thought I was either diabetic or pre diabetic and had blood sugars done several times. The constant water drinking / urination, heavy sweats, shakiness, light headedness etc all went with the gluten.
  2. Keep a food journal, it's the best way of tracking down what is affecting you. ESPECIALLY if you suffer from brain fog as its really easy to lose track or to forget how you were feeling a few days ago. Just short entries, what you eat, what time and how you feel.
  3. If that does happen you can, and in my opinion, based on what you've written here, indeed should, go ahead and give the gluten free diet a thorough try. I was sure my endoscopy would confirm celiac but it didn't. By then however the gluten challenge had convinced me that I should never eat gluten again and the consultant said as much when he told me the results...
  4. G'day and welcome Not exactly. A lot of people find that the first few months of the gluten-free diet can be problematic. There are periods of feeling great and improvement and then there are regressions and it's not always immediately apparent that they're directly related to gluten intake. I found that I had to cut dairy out for instance as I was...
  5. I haven't noticed symptoms but I have recently become more aware of just how much rice based food is in my diet now. I've started pre soaking rice as per these instructions: Open Original Shared Link and I've moved to white from brown rice for the same reason.
  6. Good move keeping a food journal. That can prove very useful. The doctor is referring to the auto immune response, the production of antibodies, which can take place with only a small amount of gluten. You however may notice a difference in symptoms depending on the quantity eaten and a lot of bread is difficult for anyone to digest in any case! ...
  7. Ditto. If they concur then I'd highly recommend trialling the gluten free diet to see what affect it has on your thyroid etc. What, if any, are your symptoms?
  8. Hi! You may find some of the links in this thread of use?
  9. Hi and welcome Flowerbox You have found a good site. There are some resources in the stickied thread below. Try to stick to the university sites, they tend to be more factual. I'm no doctor but your symptoms, physical and mental sound like they could be caused by celiac or gluten sensitivity and coupled with your reaction to trialling the...
  10. Hello and welcome Hmm, where to start? The good news is you've found a great site with people who can truly empathise. So be welcome and draw as much support and info as you can from here, I know I did. You're in no way alone, others, myself included can vouch for that. I know all about that jumbled up feeling of a head full of cotton wool and...
  11. I saw a giant dairy milk bar on the supermarket conveyor belt the other day. I wanted it sooo bad I didn't get any eggs in the end, bar a creme egg, do they count? It is indeed In the past they've also published an ice cream list as summer arrives, doesn't seem to be available now though. Maybe I should rejoin for a year to get some up to date...
  12. Thanks again for returning and updating this thread with the results and your decision. Much of the value of this site in my view lies in case histories like yours, examples for others of how problematic it can be pursuing definitive answers. I read your posts with interest due to my own negative endoscopy and sneaking worry that damage had been missed...
  13. Do not underestimate the psychological impact that this can have on you if you do wind up with a positive diagnosis, or, as I posted previously, test negative but react positively to the gluten free diet. Every word you wrote above could've been mine. Even after experiencing physical relief via the diet I took a long time to come to terms with the poor...
  14. It's difficult because there seems to be so much variation even within celiac as to how it presents, both in intestines and blood results. It's one you need to follow up with your doctors because although it could well be celiac there are other potential causes: Open Original Shared Link Did you have a full celiac blood test panel ran? May be worth...
  15. Hang in there. It's horrible but it will pass and you're unlikely to have any lasting reminder bar a lifetime dislike of getting it again!
  16. I hear you. I love all of those too, maybe bar the cheese. There's even a school of thought that those who are most affected by gluten are also the ones who love it most, because of it'sOpen Original Shared Link. But there's good news. There is gluten free pasta, and it's good. There's gluten free bread and pizza and, in time, it tastes pretty good too ...
  17. Hello again Reading this: I think this: now makes sense, sorry I don't think I interpreted your post correctly in my previous response. If you've just had the new blood tests done you shouldn't exclude gluten AT THIS POINT as if theyre positive they will want to do endoscopy and you will be back stuck doing gluten challenges. So until...
  18. I think this question is almost impossible to answer with anything deeper than an anecdotal response. There appear to be big differences between individuals as to how sensitive they are and people also find their own level of sensitivity can change over time after adopting a gluten free diet. Not to mention those whose lack of symptoms lead to the condition...
  19. Hi again Yes it's normal to be up and down, to progress and then seemingly regress etc. It's not a perfect upward slope, but in time the progress should be apparent. Try not to stress, including about the crumbs. To most people they're harmless and its all but impossible to convey to other people just how we view them. So don't try, just concentrate...
  20. Happy Easter! This is the special time of year when we celebrate the divinity of chocolate. coeliac uk have posted a safe list of eggs etc link is on this page: https://www.coeliac.org.uk/gluten-free-diet-and-lifestyle/food-shopping/easter-treats/ Nom nom!
  21. Hi Chris and welcome to the forum First, your doctor gave you good advice, lot's of support and first hand experience is on tap here. Hope you find it as useful as I have, am sure you will. Second, one month in is still VERY EARLY DAYS. Your system has been under attack for a long time and you can expect a bumpy ride for next few months. Your...
  22. Hi Just to add whenever I see this: I (albeit sometimes reluctantly) pass on the product. They could just be covering their ass, but any warning that would impact on sales is only on that package for a reason. There's nearly always a safe acceptable alternative so why take the risk?
  23. Certainly your allergy symptoms are suggestive of other things going on. I have high IGE, suffered from asthma and hay fever and I sneeze when I'm in the baking section of stores. I think that's either defensive to stop wheat ingestion or its my body telling me to move on and leave the doughnuts be but regardless it's a different immune reaction that hasn...
  24. Welcome It's perfectly safe, indeed for many of us it's essential! Gluten has no nutritional value and although there are some implications to a gluten free diet you absolutely do not need to eat it to have a healthy diet. It sounds like you may also be a member of the club, but at the moment you don't have any definitive answers. If you're...
  25. I decided against pushing for the pill, genetic further testing because the risk reward level didn't stack up. I'd kept a food diary during my challenge and had tracked various symptoms returning as I added gluten to my diet. I already knew it was doing me harm, so all I could gain was the 'official' stamp of approval via a coeliac diagnosis. It didn't seem...
