  1. Just sprinkle iron filings on them The Angel slice suggestion reminds me, Also spotted on my recon my first sighting of mr Kipling's gluten free cherry bake well tarts and a bake well loaf. I only pray that mr Kipling , possibly the busiest baker in the history of the world, will deign to deglutenise his exceedingly good French fancies as I am suddenly...
  2. It can't hurt to have it checked out. Well, I'm saying that, I guess it depends on the doctor Where do you live? I'm in the UK so my suggestions may not be of use!
  3. That is a good point. About a year or so into gluten-free I ate some barley malt cereal which I thought was ok. I started to get a very itchy rash on my elbows. I stopped the cereal and it luckily went away. If that was DH I don't think I'd be much fun to be around if I had 12 weeks plus with it plus additional months with it hanging around after testing...
  4. I'd love to help out rarchy but I'm experiencing intense waves of nausea at the moment, awful stomach churning, anxiety, sweats, chills, I think I may well pass out if this unpleasant feeling continues. But enough aboutOpen Original Shared Link I still go to McDonalds,...
  5. Hi Kristen It's really early days as you know. The odds are exceedingly in your favour. Many users here have experienced complete recoveries after decades longer undiagnosed. The body has wonderful healing powers once the gluten is removed. In about 2-5% of cases the healing doesn't work so well: Open Original Shared Link but I think you'd...
  6. Hi Victoria and welcome Honestly? I don't think so. There's absolutely no treatment other than the gluten-free diet. You've established that going gluten free resolves your symptoms and you've adjusted to the diet. Testing would involve a gluten challenge of at least 8-12 weeks, probably longer with the waiting time for an endoscopy to confirm. The...
  7. Tesco have some gluten free offers, see photograph for more. If I had to guess I'd say they're out in advance of Coeliac UK's gluten free awareness week which promises a gluten freevolution...Needless to say I will be at the barricades urging the downfall of the gluten bakeries and the coming of the new glorious gluten free order. Until then I will be...
  8. I have this, well self diagnosed as I'm not going back on gluten to reproduce it. The good news is that following the diet all but eradicated it.
  9. First, I take my hat off to you for the discipline you've shown keeping to the diet! When you reintroduced foods did you do it one at at time? That could be a way of narrowing it down. You could also start with other whole foods before moving to a processed food like gluten-free bread, I'm guessing that just getting more variety in the fruits and vegetables...
  10. Hi Alison and welcome Few questions: Did you have the full celiac blood panel? Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgAAnti-Gliadin (AGA) IgGAnti-Endomysial (EMA) IgAAnti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgADeamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgGTotal Serum IgA Sometime only one or 2 of these markers are tested. If you have your results you could post...
  11. Hello and welcome You've found a good site and maybe you've found your answers too. Your symptoms could all be explained by celiac, for example, take your pick: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/search/?q=sore groin&start_after=any It would also explain your lifelong dairy issues, fatigue, rashes, 'IBS' etc etc. It's like the chameleon...
  12. Hi Kirsty and welcome We have something in common: I also had anxiety issues although the gluten free diet has all but made them disappear The bread is not good for hypoglycemia, gluten notwithstanding. It gets very rapidly converted into sugar by your body and that in turn drives your blood sugar into a spike, followed by a crash and...
  13. Hello and welcome G&R No if you're happy as you are I wouldn't purposely add those foods. They're not 'good' for you, but for some of us they're either convenient (the humble sandwich is a great way of taking food in on the go) or they're a reminder of our past diet. As I cut out so many of the foods I used to enjoy I find I value the occasional...
  14. I think that was my line!
  15. Hello and welcome There's a documented relationship between the two so your suspicions are likely well founded: Open Original Shared Link As CyclingLady says above, celiac Open Original Shared Linkit can affect including those you cite. Try searching this forum and you'll likely find similar accounts. If you can stick to the diet the healing...
  16. Ok, at the moment you have positive reaction to gluten free diet but negative blood test. For me that was enough for a gastro to have a look via endoscopy, but that's not always the case. As above you have the complication of having been gluten free which may have compromised the test plus their standard test doesn't include the DGP or IGG which can catch...
  17. As you mentioned yourself serology can be high for reasons other than celiac. Existence, then severity of villous atrophy There's no treatment options other than the gluten-free diet so I'd say the primary goal is establishing damage rather than the extent. I'll split my answer between the medical profession and the patients themselves...
  18. Welcome Had a quick google out of interest Open Original Shared Link: Hopefully your GI consult can shed some further light. One suggestion. If your GI excludes celiac and you choose not to pursue further testing, give the gluten free diet a try in any case. It's possible you test negative but are still affected and avoiding gluten...
  19. If you're going to continue to push for a diagnosis stay on gluten! A break could lead to a false negative. It's a lot harder to go off it and then go back on...
  20. I've forgotten them, just remember the good stuff. Weekends in Baja or Vegas or up Pacific highway to see the Redwoods and Frisco. Watching the sunrise at Mount Soledad and watching it drop into the Pacific in the evening. Carne Asada Burritos on Garnet* Solana beach ale* Gorgeous women entranced by my exotic accent, humboldt county weed, raves at the romper...
  21. I miss living in California
  22. Sometimes that's almost as important as avoiding the gluten. There's times where I've not enjoyed myself because I'm more worried about the potential for getting glutened...
  23. Check out this page and the advice on rice prep: Open Original Shared Link
  24. Hi Rachel and welcome I think you've found the single best site on the web for help and advice. Hope it's of use to you. I tested negative for celiac so no referral. My experience with NHS however suggests it could be worth phoning your Gastro's office and asking the admin staff there to check on this. Things get overlooked... I would...
  25. Ah.... Settles back, dons funny hat, smokes pipe, plays violin, injects heroin etc... I think you need to treat yourself as your own science experiment. If you're ok at home with all of the drinks then you can almost certainly rule out alcohol intolerance and thank your bodies burgeoning super coeliac powers of gluten detection for the reaction...
