  1. Earlier this year they started a bunch of sauced steam bag foods, and they contain gluten. The company does not do this on separate equipment or dedicated lines but instead just cleans the lines and does them on batches on rotation same packing equipment......so birdseye is a big no for us now.
  2. I have had this extreme night sweat issue for years, the severity of it comes and goes in waves. But last few nights have been worse then others, like soaking the bedding with sweat to where when I roll over the moisture coming out wakes me. (I will sweat out 2-3lbs...that an a mix of my metabolism, in a night) I am wondering if this has something to do...
  3. Sometimes this happens, odd as it might be, you have to be eating gluten for the test first off daily. We call it a gluten challenge. Second some people due test negative on the blood test but can have celiac which is why we consider the endoscope and biopsy the golden standard. Also the gluten test back when you had it done previously was much less accurate...
  4. They use the same fryers for everything, so the fresh fried corn tortilla chips are gluten contaminated when they get dropped in the fryers.....
  5. Yes, gluten ataxia is one form where it effects your brain and nervous system. I lose feelings in my hands and feet, have all kinds of muscle issues when even traces get introduced via CC or walking through the bakery section of the grocery store -_ - Last time I got glutened at a restaurant back in 2016 I got home and lost full motor control and collapsed...
  6. Due to the nature of the kitchen on those kind of environments it is very hard to not have CC. They are obviously not confident that they are 100% gluten-free. Honestly I would not eat any any place like that due to CC issues. I had my share of so called gluten-free earlier on with my celiac in the beginning after dia. Yeah I only trust 3 places right now...
  7. Well, as a celiac the gluten causes your own body to flare with antibodies and mistakenly attack your body most people the intestines. (I also have it attack my entire nervous system and brain) Your antibodies can stay flared for weeks to a month or so with just a crumb, so cheating is not a option. The damage to your intestines will cause malabsorption for...
  8. .....you do know the Mc Ds uses wheat in the fries? FRENCH FRIES Ingredients: Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (Canola Oil, Corn Oil, Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Natural Beef Flavor [Wheat and Milk Derivatives]*), Dextrose, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate (Maintain Color), Salt. *Natural beef flavor contains hydrolyzed wheat and hydrolyzed milk as starting...
  9. Grew up in a Hispanic half family, and ironically have a bad allergy to corn now....anyway when they get a bit dried out you take 2 large sheet stretch of a paper towel soak, wring it bit then wrap 2-6 tortillas in it put on a plate an zap in the microwave for a bit, this steam cooks them, and if they are dried out a bit from the fridge and falling apart...
  10. I wish you lived near here, I have the greatest massage therapist she does Swedish style, She can loosen up the stressed tight muscles wonderfully, I am prone to getting knots in my shoulders and neck, so I have to have them worked out once a month otherwise they start to limit mobility and hurt.
  11. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ ^Newbie 101 section PS you are diagnosed celiac right? Sorry but a standard question as you should get the diagnosis out of the way before going gluten-free. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/117090-gluten-free-food-alternatives-list/ ^ Have a nice list of food alternatives, including...
  12. Lol funny thing me and my dietician were talking about things that could also cause villi blunting years ago. He brought up a interesting one, he had a case where someone was taking massive amounts of Metamucil several times a day, He said it was like 2-4 tsp 3 times a day and making into hot gel drinks for weight loss to feel full. Anyway what this had done...
  13. Sorry to hear about the loss, bread is a pain for some, Canyon house makes one many swear by...I have 2 issues with it so I can not even try it. I been using Julian Bakery Bread for awhile, the seed one was wonderful even toast like gluten bread, while the coconut one made the most amazing french toast, and the almond one was great toasted with mashed avocado...
  14. Equal parts Hershey Coco Powder and a sweetener with a pinch of salt. Super easy to make your own. I like adding a bit to my coffee with almond milk, and lakanto sugar free maple, or a bit of monk fruit or stevia. PS you might want to drop dairy milk. The enzymes to break it down come from the tips of the villi in your intestines....these are damaged...
  15. They do a breath test, in some cases they can identify it in extreme cases visually if it has spread to the mouth like thrush or viewable on a scope.
  16. Keep a food diary and record everything you eat, condiments, how it is fixed etc. You might have a CC cuplrit and find it this way. Also with this disease it is common to develop random intolerance issues and allergies to foods. If you get glutened depending on your symptoms you can do some things to get over them faster. They make a enzyme to break down...
  17. There is sort of a detox/withdrawal thing for the first few weeks for most. Keep a food diary, often after a glutening a new intolerance will creep up for awhile. Sort of your body associating another food with gluten, and or it just being picky while damaged. Write down everything you eat, how you fix it, seasonings etc. Change up the diet, and look for...
  18. You can keep down the clutter by bringing a set of Nordicware microwave cook ware, r roll of butcher/freezer paper (makes gluten-free safe prep area on top of counters, tables, and a nice eating mat) spatula, plastic utensils, and perhaps a small griddle. I normally just do stuff that way and bring at home made muffins, cookies, etc to make myself feel good...
  19. Magnesium and Calcium intake down combination with high sodium would lead to a form of edema where your body retains water in the joints and muscles. Try drinking more green tea, vitamin C supplements, bioflavoids, and adding a bit of lemon juice (I use the true lemon powder) to foods and beverages. http://www.progressivehealth.com/5-vitamins-to-reduce-fluid...
  20. Did they check for candida? And what about your other levels? Keep a eye on your food diary, start rotating foods a bit more, see if you got a new intolerance. They seem to random come and go with me like REALLY random...last month was lettuce which is fine when I brought it back yesterday. Anyway other thoughts, make sure your getting a bit of everything...
  21. Technically all distilled hard liquors should be gluten free, note should be Flavored ones, issues with back contamination, etc. lead many of us to play it safe and stay away from gluten grain based liquors and flavored ones, Some of us will tell you they never had issues with them others like me are to paranoid to even try a drink made from gluten grains...
  22. There are some enzymes you can take to lessen the gut symptoms, they help break it down quicker to get over it faster. Your antibodies will still flare up for the next few weeks and weak havoc with your immune system so it is mostly damage control. Go easy on your gut everyone is different in terms of easy to digest foods. I myself use coconut and konjac...
  23. Yeah my family stopped doing gifts a few years ago when we had a grandparent on each side of the family die. After that no one meets up, no gifts, no one even does cards. I tried 2 years ago to give all my relatives gifts, hand written cards......None of them even said thanks. Next year I said I will not give out cards or gifts unless one of them send me...
  24. Was wondering why don't the regulars here now sign up for a secret Santa like thing this year? We can have one of the moderators manage the drawing and assgin it to those who want to get in on it. I mean many of use have several restrictions but us regulars talk enough on here that we know each others no foods, shopping habits. interest. Heck if unsure you...
  25. We had some discussions about it here https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/119258-celiacs-in-shelters/?tab=comments#comment-981743 This was primarily about Harvey but the last post brought up a new food bank located in the middle of the united states that specializes in helping people with these issues. I honestly would love to ship you some stuff from...
