  1. Hi all!

Has anyone heard from Donna? I am VERY worried about her.

Off to read what I have missed, yes, i'm going back ...very scary!

Quick drive-by. I'm okay. Had a root canal yesterday. I'm on antibiotics which are making me queasy and dizzy, but otherwise okay. Saw the Endodontist on Tuesday, and he fit me in for yesterday for the root canal so I didn't have to be in pain for too much longer. He said I have TMJ and that's why I've been in so much pain since my regular dental visit last Wednesday, so he kept the procedure to a minimum yesterday and gave me some suggestions on how to minimize that pain. The root canal was a piece of cake. He did the only other one I had done 10 years ago and never felt a thing on either time. I did swallow some of the topical stuff, and that made me queasy on top of the queasiness from the antibiotics. So no wonder I was near out of my mind with pain though...TMJ AND a cracked tooth which probably went haywire from me clenching my teeth from the pain of the TMJ. It got so bad I couldn't chew at all on Tuesday/Wednesday...messed up my meat/veggies only thing though...I haven't been itching much at all until yesterday (just a little) though, so hopefully all is well.

I haven't had time today to catch up on the posts, so Julie I'll be joining you on going back...hopefully sometime before I leave today. I won't be posting for the next 4 days though. My computer at home died...just won't boot up correctly, so can't post from there. I'll be off work tomorrow and for the 3 day weekend, so don't get too worried if you don't hear from me.

  2. Donna,

How is your jaw/mouth doing today?? Any better? Hang in there and hopefully you will get some relief soon. Let us know how your appt goes and what they decide.

    Hugs!!

side note- I had all my mercury fillings taken out years ago, it's one of the first things I did when I started getting sick.

Thanks, not well yesterday unfortunately. I was so sick I couldn't even sit up without feeling like I would throw up or pass out. I stayed home from work, and tried to log on here once, but had to shut off the computer before I could even find this thread. The pain level was low yesterday fortunately, but that's probably why I was so sick...I took 2 vicodin before bed and 2 more at midnight...never did get back to sleep, so think that's why I was so sick when I got up at 4:00 yesterday. Didn't want to eat anything, the only thing that sounded good and seemed to settle my stomach were the corn tortillas I had in the freezer, so I had three of those throughout the day plus a little ground meat. BUT, unfortunatley, I think throughout the weekend somewhere I aggravated the tooth that was cracked because it really started to hurt last night, throughout the night and today I can't even eat today because even chewing on the right side, the left hurts too much. They don't want me to take any pain medicine before my appointment today, but I had to take 3 advil this morning...that barely touched the pain. I just have two more hours to go here at work, but not sure I'll even make it that long at this rate. I brought the advil with me so as soon as the doctor is done, I'm popping some, lol.

  3. Donna,

I had a root canal last year (sept I think). I still bothered me in March. Now the pain seems to be mostly gone. The hygenist told me it could take up to a year. I never had the pain that you have though, my toothe just couldn't handle hot or cold foods.

Have you ever heard of or read up on cavitations? Do a google search.....I lost all my saved favorites in March so don't have the stuff I had bookmarked anymore. :( Just another consideration. The doctor I saw for my allergies is a mainline doctor who moved over to holistic medicine. I can't go to him regularly since he doesn't accept my insurance plan. He's into removing mercury etc......he has a list of toxic free dentists in the area. There is a dentist in Reno that deals with cavitations. He requires xrays to be sent for analysis.

He's on the list the allergy doctor gave me even though I'm in Washington. These cavitation doctors seem to be few and far between.

Thanks Andrea! The guy I'm seeing on Tuesday did a root canal on me 10 years ago...I have to say that if I need that again, it wouldn't be the worst thing. I thought it wasn't much more uncomfortable than a regular dental appointment, lol. He apparently does good work. I'll look up cavitations tomorrow when I'm at work (if I MAKE it to work...not so sure at this point) with a faster internet connection. I have a MOUTH FULL of bad metal I'm sure. More than half my teeth have fillings or crowns. Even my front tooth has a filling. :o I've often wondered if all that metal in my mouth wasn't the source of some of my problems. Reno is close enough for me to go...I have a friend that lives in Sacramento...I could go to her house and then we could hit reno, lol...she could gamble and I can have my teeth drilled. :P

Good that you located the spots. Just massage them gently, in a circular motion. The warm compress you can use anytine you feel they'll help--but not while you're massaging.

I still get the pain--I mostly only get it on the left side of my jaw--it can give me ear pain, too. The thing that aggrevates it the worst is eating a lot of crunchy hard foods.

Thanks Patti! I didn't notice that eating hard foods made it worse until today...course my pain level was already fairly high and I had steak and broccoli...both are something that I think of as NOT hard, lol, but apparently they are hard enough cuz it hurt my neck and jaw when I chewed. Mine is on the left side as well. I've had a lot of trouble with the left side of my neck for years...bet it's all tied in.

  4. Were you referred to a specialist for the tooth problem or the jaw problem. Usually it's orthos who do the TMJ repair. There are many methods of working with TMJ, I would not opt for surgery. Just seems strange that he's not sending you to an ortho for the TMJ ... they are the ones who look at cranio- facial structure.

Mouth guards at night can help. The cracked tooth could be from grinding. My jaw was just in the completely wrong place, so for the past year we've been retraining my muscles to hold it in the right place. The last step is moving my teeth so that they don't pull it back to the wrong place. Right now, none of my teeth, except for the front ones, even make contact ... I've learned to just swallow my food whole ... <_< No lettuce for me!

The tooth problem I think but now I'm not sure...when I talked to the girl at the specialist's office to make my appointment, I told her I thought it might be TMJ, but wasn't sure and she said that that would be why I needed a specialist, lol. So maybe he does that too?? Or, maybe it will be to just fix the tooth problems to see if that helps the pain. What does endodontic mean...I looked up endo in the dictionary and it means "inside or within"...sounds like route canal to me, lol...anyway, that word is in the name of their practice.

    Hi Donna--

    Sorry about the pain :(

I have TMJ Disfunction, also. I use a night guard on my bottom teeth. Mine was made for me by my dentist. He took a mould of my teeth, and had it made from that. It's very comfortable, and fits perfectly.

Our insurance covered 80% of the cost.

I was diagnosed by an Ear, Nose and Throat Dr. who told me to have the dentist make the guard.

Other things that help ease the pain for me--soft foods (when it hurts), massaging the points (one is where you top and bottom jaws come together--put your finger there and bite down a couple times--you'll feel the place going in and out--the other is farther up, in front of your ear, you'll feel it when you bite), warm cloth on the joints.

Thanks Patti! I found a couple of spots where the jaw meets that are very tender...the one by the ear is tender, and when I press on them the pain that is radiating stops. I'll try the warm cloth...is that while you are massaging or afterwards?

  5. For those with TMJ, I had it very bad. I am seeing an orthodontist for it and medical, not dental, insurance covers it!!! I wore a splint to move my jaw to the right place, now I'm wearing a functional regulator to train my muscles to move correctly and to widen my palate for the braces, which come in November. It's been a long time to get this fixed, but my jaw felt better a couple months into the treatment. It used to click every single time I moved it, and I was in constant dull pain. Now, no clicking and it's rare to have pain (I have permanent damage to my bone so I will always have some trouble). I highly recommend treatment! I put it off for years and just wore a night guard for grinding.

Wow, hope MY insurance covers it, lol.

I saw my regular dentist yesterday...he said my symtoms do seem typical of TMJ...I also have a cracked tooth (which I've had for a while so that's not the cause of this pain and I don't eat on that side anyway)...there is also a spot between two teeth, way down in the gum which is very painful...he doesn't know what that is...usually gum disease is by the teeth, not so far down and thinks it needs to be checked out.

He said I could get a guard for sleeping...so will probably end up getting one...might as well check out the one Tiffany mentioned!

He is also referring me to a specialist who can determine exactly what's going on. I saw this specialist 10 years ago for a route(SP??) canal...it's that tooth area that seems to be one involved with the pain deept in the gums between the teeth. I think the specialist is also the one who will determine if it's TMJ. I DO have the clicking when I open my mouth and I've had this pain before although not as bad.

I took so much Tylenol yesterday which did NOTHING for the pain, so the dentist gave me a prescription for vicodin. The first pill did NOTHING. The second pill dulled the pain enough (or at least made me drowsy enough) to sleep. This morning as soon as I got up I took 3 advil (the girl at the specialist's office said I should take Advil during the day because of the anti-inflamatory thing and so it won't make me drowsy). The pain is still there today, but with all the pain meds, it's thankfully just a dull ache with ocassional spikes of bad pain. I actually put ice on it for a while...picture the gags in TV shows when someone has a toothache and they have a huge bandage wrapped from under the chin and tied on top of the head...that was me so I could ice it and keep my hands free. Looked stupid, but seemed to help a little. At least I got some sleep.

  6. Julie - Hi!! No, no need to send the dingos, lol.

Hey Donna, just wanted to share. I have always had a problem with grinding (so they say) cause my teeth are really short and are not normal for a 23 year old (look like a 60 year old's, they tell me, cause they are worn down). I would have SOME jaw problems, but not enough to question TMJ.

I got a cracked tooth a couple of months ago and went to the dentist 2 weeks ago to have a crown put on it to protect the tooth and hold it together. I was in the most terrible pain after sitting in the dentist chair for 2 and 1/2 hours! I was on vicodin and valium for the last 2 weeks. I also used a warm water bottle on my jaw joint to try to relax the muscles.

When I went in on Tuesday (a week after the appointment, so after one week of pain) I had the TENS thing done. It was so annoying. I hated it. But, my jaw did feel better. Just dont tell that dentist, cause I never want to do that again! I hated that thing!

Anyway, she showed me this new mouth piece for people with TMJ that clips on to the front teeth instead of a barrier between all teeth like a night guard. It is small, and looks like a little clippie. The idea is that when the front teeth don't touch, then the back teeth CAN'T! And with most night guards, you train your jaw to "bite down" cause it wants to find the point where the teeth meet.

But they say, with this little thing, your jaw is held just enough open that the muscles relax, and you don't try to bite through the night! I will try to post this link to the info

    Open Original Shared Link

Just wanted to pass that along (ps-I MIGHT get one, they are about 350.00, so we will see......)

WAIT!!!! I just noticed that my Lame Advertisement word was changed to "lame advert." !!!!!!!! Why?????????

Thanks for the info!! I've bookmarked it and will look at it later.

  7. Thanks Andrea!

There is a pressure point around there that my chiropractor showed me when my TMJ pain was really bad. The other pressure point is to stick your finger all the way to the back of your mouth where the upper and lower jaw meet and massage there. Don't do it in public though, you'll look like a freak. ;)

Funny, I just read that on a website, lol. I'll have to excuse myself to the ladies room so I can try it, lol.

  8. HI everyone...some really good info from everyone...THANKS.

I've been missing for a couple of days because it's been so crazy busy at work, so no time to read and post. I had a dentist appointment on Wednesday for routine cleaning and since then my whole jaw area has been throbbing with the worst pain...I've been popping Tylenol like crazy and it doesn't even touch the pain, so I'm going back today to see if possibly it's TMJ. This has happened before, but I've never kept good journals so this time before too much time passes I'm going back. If I place my finger on one point at the jaw joint it is painful in that spot, but the throbbing in the rest of the jaw goes away...how weird is that!? Anyway, I couldn't sleep last night because of the pain, and since they could fit me in today, I'm going.

Did very well this week at avoiding sugar of all kinds...just meat and veggies. The itching is much less intense. I'm trying to figure out what to do about tomorrow...I have an all day retreat so will need to take food, but won't have access to fridge or reheating appliances...chicken and a cooler might do, but I'll have to think about it, lol. Don't really want to mess everything up now. Course, if this jaw pain doesn't go away, I might stay home anyway and won't have to think about it at all. :P

  9. I know that Agave is supposed to be low glycemic, but I too find myself Rachelling it, so I've cut it and all sugars out for this week and next, and LET ME TELL YOU....I AM SEVERELY CRAVING IT! Must be on to something cuz hardly a minute goes by without me thinking of what I can have that is sweet, lol. Just call me sugar junkie. Two days down and the third is beginning nicely. No sugar, but I have been having some starchy veggies...corn mostly, but not a lot of it. So, just meats and veggies. Boring, but hopefully effective.

Xylitol is made from corn I think, so that might not work for some. I've been trying Stevia too...the kind I buy is in packets so it has maltodextrin in it, but the maltodextrin is made from rice. I've also cut that out this week.

If I can get to a point where I don't itch for several days in a row, I'll know I'm on to something...then will try adding things back one at a time.

I am experiencing a little herxiemer effect though...I was so congested yesterday...it was almost like old times when I was getting sinus infections all the time. I'm not getting one, but I sure was congested last night and this morning. Hopefully this will only last a day or two...hopefully the itching will go with it.

I also realized on the way home last night that I was supposed to get my allergy shots last Thursday, lol. Forgot. It's been a month since I've had them so maybe that will help too.

Oh and on the beans thing...I didn't eat them for years because it seemed like they gave me problems, but within the last few months I've been eating them here and there and haven't noticed any extra gas or problems from them...also eat peanuts without obvious affects, but I'm wondering if it's a synergistic thing in my case...too much of little bits of a lot of different things.

  10. Milk and animal products are high in sulfur as well as broccoli, cabbage, onions, garlic, cauliflower, some lettuce, etc..

Egads!!! Ate a ton of broccoli yesterday, lol. Been eating a mix with cauliflower in it too but not that much...don't eat cabbage or onions/garlic anymore and no lettuce since I can't have dressing. I do eat a lot of animal products...don't know what else to eat anymore, lol.

or I may just be a dumb boy :P

    Never!

  11. Judy - never be afraid to post here...even if we've discussed something a hundred times, as you can see, we end up discussing it again at some point. It's too hard to go back in this thread, lol.

Rice, grrrr. I was eating a lot of it up until last week. Towards the end of the week I decided to cut it out too.

So far so good on my meat/veggies thing...I had noticably less itching yesterday...still some in the afternoon, and a little right now as a matter of fact. Yesterday none at all until after I took a shower and shaved my legs. Today none until now, just got back from a brisk walk.

  12. Pretty is not exactly the word I would use.

I'm quoting myself! Not only do I have to STOP going to bed at 8:00, I may have to quite premature posting...after this I noticed the discussion on how TheDave stole Rachel's picture...um, the only picture I saw were the cute puppies...so Rachel, I wasn't talking about you when I wrote this comment.

  13. Donna for your trip to Disneyworld come on down! We have a house there that when we arent using it we rent it out. I would give any fellow celiacs a HUGE discount!

Wow, thanks...I'll keep that in mind! My friend is always wanting to travel, so that wouldn't be a problem, but SHE eats gluten so wouldn't want to bring her into your home, lol.

OK..put up the first pic...me and my lavander dress at my Moms wedding. You cant see my shoes though...they got cut off. I will try to make the pic more clear later.

How do I write something under my pic??

WAAAHHHHH!!!!! I missed the pictures...I'm going to have to STOP going to bed at 8:00.

Rachel, what a wonderful picture. I knew you were already pretty, but you look so feminine in this pic. I also wear many baseball caps, but still like to dress up on occasion. You should do it more often. Now I want to see the new sundress you bought a few weeks ago

Okay, forget my last post...I hit refresh and now see the new picture...I agree, it's wonderful!

    Drive by.....

<--------- Am I pretty or what?

Pretty is not exactly the word I would use.

  14. Donna,

You've been busy! Want to come figure out my meals? :D j/k

It's good that you got everything planned and taken care of....it will make the week that much easier.

Ha, don't think you'd want to eat what I cook, lol. I'd barely call it cooking, lol. Yah, I had to do something about breakfasts because I get up way too early to try to cook and fool around...so I've made 5 ribeye steaks which taste okay reheated...they're in the freezer so I can just take it out the night before and warm it up in the morning...breakfasts are the hardest and the most tempting to eat stuff that is easy and quick, so I had to do it or I'd definitely eat something I shouldn't, lol. I think I cooked for about an hour.

  15. Okay, so the question is what do I want to do with the rest of my life, lol:

I'd love to spend a month at an artist's retreat somewhere out in the country or mountains or something (not that I'm that good, but it'd be a good excuse to actually paint instead of doing other stuff)...

I'd love to go on a cruise around the world (been to Europe and the Carribbean already)...

I'd love to spend a week at a spa, where they would also take care of my gluten/casein free stuff :)

I'd like to visit Alaska (cruise would be good)

Train trip across the United States

Sky diving...I can go tandem diving with a co-worker who is certified

    Remodel my condo

Make a living off of selling jewelry cuz I've discovered I LOVE it and well, am addicted to beads

Spend Christmas snowed in in a cabin somewhere with a cozy fire with people who are close to me

Spend a week hiking through Vermont in the fall (did this already but we just missed the fall colors)

    Learn to like yoga

Visit Italy, France, Canada, Ireland, Scotland (LOVED IT and want to go back), Greece and many others

    Visit Disneyworld

    Stay in a castle somewhere

  16. Andrea, sorry you have a restless baby tonight. Poor thing. :(

Everyone....send good vibes to The Dave.....On Monday he's taking a big test. He'll pass on his own (he's not really an idiot)....but good vibes cant hurt. :)

    Good vibrations coming his way....

    back to reading....

For some reason last night I wasnt scared of the height....probably because I knew nothing would happened if I fell. One year my roommate and I went on the roof to watch fireworks...we ended up not being able to see the fireworks and not being able to get down. It was so easy getting up there but another story coming down. We just sat there not knowing what to do. Our neighbor finally noticed that it was late and we were stuck on the roof....he brought a ladder. I think he thought we were kind of lame for getting stuck up there.

OMGOSH!!! The same thing happened to my uncle and I (he is 1 year older than me by the way) when we were kids, lol. We climbed up on the roof to watch fireworks and couldn't get down, lol. Both our dads came looking for us, lol. I think we got in trouble.

My Mom wants me to put up a picture of me getting ready for the wedding. I'm in the bathroom...I think picking up something off the floor...she snapped a pic and the toilet is right behind my head. She said this is her favorite pic of me from that day.

She said noone will notice the toilet in the background.

I actually thought it would be quite fitting for the Celiac board.:lol:

Yah, we've all seen and done that before (the toilet), lol. Would love to see the picture though.

hi everybody.....just a pop-in...my friends just left...very, very sad. :( not only is the house too quiet, BUT we saw R's brother at a yard sale this morning....so he filled me in on everything, and now I am TOO sad, and praying for recovery.....the wound that never entirely heals (the broken heart from my ex-boyfriend-almost-fiance, spring of this year, if there is POSSIBLY - could there be? anyone who doens't know about my heinous broken heart of this year).....

Oh, Susie Q, time will heal, but it's awful in the meantime! It's okay to be sad...it's okay to even have a couple of nuggets...a couple. Only a couple. Are you still going to the Stanford conference?

  17. Posts like this make me want to put up my picuter so ppl will get to say somthing other then postive comments about everyones looks! :D

I hope you don't get offended if I DON'T call you BEAUTIFUL! (Actually I've seen your website and you are very good looking!)

I hate to admit, but I have to keep reminding myself to come down here  I haven't gotten used to the changes yet!

    ...

Donna- have fun grocery shopping! The sea salts should have all the minerals, if it is a good quality one.

Good thing I usually just hit "new posts" or I'd forget to look down there too. I just read the label of the sea salt I use at home and it does say that it has all the minerals and no iodine. It's just the 365 (Whole Foods) brand though.

    Donna,

Yeah..Herxheimer reaction can be really bad. I had it for a week when I first started my candida diet. I'm not sure if it was herxheimer or withdrawl though. Probably both put together...I thought I was dying.

Fortunately I didn't get it for the anti-candida diet cuz I was already lower carb...but it was bad when I first went through it.

I havent went back to the ogre yet....my arm is still bruised and I guess I was being a baby about it. I'll go back on Monday. I'm disappointed that something went wrong the first time because I should be getting my results back by now.

Yah, that would just tick me off, lol. Those things are never pleasant to begin with and to have to GO BACK because of someone's incompetence is just mind boggling to me.

She said the only other option would be surgery to take a look around and get rid of the cyst. She mentioned the procedure...it started with an "L"...cant remember the word but we've discussed it here before. I think maybe Patti knows??

Laprascopy (or something like that??) That is good...it's minimally invasive and very quick recovery time. I couldn't have that for my fibroids because they were too big and too many. For the Laprascopy (I'm not spelling it anywhere near correct, lol) they just make a couple of very tiny incisions and use a scope (sort of similar to the endoscopy I think) which has a camera, etc. attached.

Anyways...she said maybe I have Endometriosis...which I know nothing about. I do recall reading it could cause food sensitivities though. She said there is no guarantee that they could diagnose it with the surgery...even if I had it. There is also no guarantee that the cyst wont come back after they remove it either.

She doesnt think the cyst is causing my abdominal pain....she made that clear. Its not really the occassional abdominal pain that concerns me though....its mainly the other stuff I'm dealing with. I asked her how they normally diagnose Endometriosis...she said they usually put the patient on hormones and if it works they diagnose based on that. I dont want to try hormones or BC or anything like that. I'd rather go ahead with the surgery.

She said they can do the surgery and get a good look around but she is going on maternity leave and wont be back until November. I need to set up an appt. with her in Nov. for a surgery consult where she said we can discuss all of this stuff in more detail. It sucks to have to wait that long but I figure I'll get another ultrasound around that time to make sure the cyst is still there before we do surgery.

I dont know if any of this will help but I'm willing to try anything. Its process of elimination...if I dont do anything about it...I'll always wonder if its causing me problems. I know we've talked about all this before but what do you guys think about the cyst and does anyone know about Endometriosis?? Could any of this be causing sensitivities in your opinions??

I know Endometriosis is VERY PAINFUL! If I'm remembering correctly it is where blood (or blood by-products or some such thing) forms outside the uterus (sorry to any guys reading this, lol). I did a little research on it when I thought that was my problem before I had discovered the fibroids. That was over 5 years ago though, so there is absolutely no hope of retrieving any brain cells attached to THAT info and I've probably got that all mixed up with something else.

One of the reasons why I ended up having a hysterectomy 5 years ago was because there was the possibility that they could come back. Since I had so many, it was a VERY good possibility. I was in so much pain I couldn't stand it...AND...I was already in my late 40s, so not really much chance of having kids.

Well, did my grocery shopping and have everything divided and put away...also have all my breakfasts ready for next week and lunches too. I'm about to go take off my nail polish...sooooo, I'm all set to figure all this out, lol. I'll probably feel crummy towards the end of the week with the herxiemer affect and all, but hopefully I WON'T ITCH!! It was so bad last night that I was scratching in my sleep...I was dreaming and scratching...weird, I was asleep but aware of scratching. Grrr.

  18. I think everyone else has given good advice on your diet, I just wanted to add that I can't wear nail polish. I feel like I am suffocating, more specifically as if my hands can't breath. That sounds funny I know but I've also heard that according to acupuncterists there are meridians that are blocked by using nail polish.

    ...

I've been busy the past few days and still haven't sorted out my computer. I miss you all :) but it has given me some time to think about things and to do a little more research. My feeling is that whatever is wrong with me is multi-layered and that the Celiac and Arthritis are arising out of a systemic break down. I know that I am better than I was in January, my pain has been reduced to 3 on a scale of 10 whereas in January it was at 7 and 8. I am having daily bowel movements without problems and the malapsorption has diminished greatly and this has been accomplished through diet and acupuncture. As I have healed in some ways I am clearer that what there is something that what I am doing is not addressing.

    ...

The information on Salt/C talks about herxes, is that term familiar to anyone? I had never heard it before but it means healing crisis where it seems you are worse but actually you are getting rid of toxins and feeling the effects of it.

Yah, I think I know what you're talking about with the nail polish...I had a weird feeling for quite some time after I had it put on...couldn't put my finger on what, but eventually I got used to that feeling...but that's eactly about the time I started to itch so badly...I was itching before but not this badly.

I think multi-layer is a good way to put what is going on with most of us here in this thread, lol. I am so much better since January, but there are still just the couple of little things and this darned itching. My D has cleared up, but so much so I have C a couple of days a week.

I've heard about herxiemer effect...bet it's the same thing. I learned about that when I started my low carb (Atkins) diet a few years ago...you feel a lot worse before you feel better...someone described it as the toxic stuff your body is releasing is finally exiting but as it does it causes problems. After that was done, I had NEVER felt as good and had as much energy as when I was eating lower carb (when I was eating cleanly...whenever I added any kind of processed low carb goodies, which usually include some kind of gluten, I'd get sick). Fruit will be okay for me once I get all this junk out of my system.

    Rinne,

I haven't heard of that but I do prefer real salt or something similar for salt.

I'm glad to read that you are feeling so much better than earlier in the year. :)

Hum, I use a Celtic Sea Salt at work and at home Sea Salt... Doesn't have iodine, but wonder if any of it has the minerals. I'll investigate. :)

I know this is "old" but I was catching up on some reading and wanted to chime in here.

I had GERD so bad that after Nexium, Previcid, and Aciphex, I was put on Reglan (an antiemitic, for vomiting) because it was like throwing up after every meal!

My doc told me to avoid tomato, and spicey foods. But I didn't think that reflux like this would creep up out of nowhere (within the last 2 years) when I have been eating all of those foods my whole life! Thats why I got the Lame Advertisement test (which showed gluten, and lead me here to celiac.com, which lead me to EnteroLab, and so on and so forth).

My Lame Advertisement results showed intolerances to :

    Cantaloupe

    Cauliflower

    Sweet Potato

    Brussel Sprouts

    Cottonseed

    Gliadin

    Halibut

    Peach

    Sardine

    String Bean

    Almond

    Apricot

    Artichoke

    Caraway

    Dill Mix

    Fructose

    Olive

    Strawberry

    Vanilla

    Whey

    Whitefish

I know many of you have done an elimination diet. I didn't know what one was until after I did this test. But after getting these results, I avoided all of these foods (not completely, but mostly) and my reflux is gone! Along with a host of other problems. I am sure that the bulk of those problems were gluten/celiac related. But I have noticed headaches now when I have strawberries! I would never have put those two together before all of this!

I guess my point is that maybe the reflux is related to another food....I know that is the last thing someone on here wants to read......

I've suspected I'm still eating something that I shouldn't...when I was tested for food allergies they did a scratch test on my back and I only showed mild reactions to canteloupe, white grapes, barley and yellow squash. I never ate yellow squash much so figure that must have been a false positive, but the others I had eaten regularly before that so cut them out...I still have problems, but not as much. I think since then, I've devleoped other allergies or intollerances so I think it's probably time to get retested. :(

Just wanted to tell Judy....you're beautiful! Great to "see" you!

Well, I'm off to do my grocery shopping. This week, only meat and veggies...should make shopping easy and fast, lol. I'm not even going to buy other stuff, just meat and veggies. Organic meat, organic veggies as much as I can.

  19. That is interesting Patti, something seems a little off to me about his story. Not sure what exactly.....

Was just saying something similar to my co-workers this morning...except I think something is a little off with the whole case.

Hey Susie, just noticed the 10 days without nuggets...good going!
