  1. Well, this was decades ago, before the new nutritional and ingredient information labeling requirements.
  2. Covid can deplete your Thiamine stores and cause a deficiency. Be well: A potential role for vitamin B in COVID-19 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7428453/ And... https://www.hormonesmatter.com/recovering-from-long-covid-with-thiamine/ Another symptom of low Thiamine is constipation, IBS, leaky gut... https...
  3. Yes, your body can crave foods that contain the micronutrients your body is low in. This can be a problem with some Celiacs because their bodies can crave gluten containing products. Remember that wheat and other gluten containing grains are Required by law to be enriched with vitamins and minerals lost in processing. Bread manufacturers have...
  4. Great! If at all possible, try a form of thiamine called Benfotiamine or Thiamax. https://www.objectivenutrients.com/products/thiamax/ Keep us posted on your progress!
  5. You may want to talk to your doctor about supplementing with thiamine. My non alcoholic fatty liver disease resolved after I supplemented with high dose thiamine. Thiamine is essential for making liver enzymes. High-dose vitamin B1 therapy prevents the development of experimental fatty liver driven by overnutrition https://www.ncbi.nlm...
  6. In instant coffee, especially flavored ones, sometimes wheat is added along with the flavorings. Same as spices having added wheat as a filler and to prevent clumping. I had to quit buying International flavored coffees because of this. Plain unflavored coffees should be fine.
  7. Try the Autoimmune Protocol diet. Following this diet helps intestines heal. Read more about it here... https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/aip-diet-autoimmune-protocol-diet Please consider supplementing with Benfotiamine. The problems with your glucose and your blood pressure dropping suddenly so you faint, and the problem with spinach...
  8. @itarachiu, Have you been checked for diabetes? Your reactions after eating are similar to my reaction of high blood glucose. Panic attacks can occur if blood glucose levels stay high for too long. Are you keeping a food journal? Writing down what you eat and the quantity could help a nutritionist evaluate your diet. Vitamin deficiencies can...
  9. Niacin B3 helps calm the outbreaks, too. You may want to discuss with your doctor the benefits of supplementing with a B Complex, Vitamin C and minerals while you are healing. Avoid high iodine foods like dairy, crustaceans and seafood, and iodized salt and sea salt. Use pink Himalayan salt instead. I have two cats that I changed to grain free...
  10. @marcel g, How are you doing? I must apologize. I have somehow missed reading your last post until now. You said "Weirdly, I did feel like I had a bit more physical energy..." This is a positive response to thiamine supplementation! I do hope you will reconsider supplementing with thiamine for a longer period of time. Some people...
  11. Thiamine. Nausea is another symptom of thiamine insufficiency. Try 100 mg with meals.
  12. @Brightstar101, Are you taking any other vitamins? B12 needs the other B vitamins to work properly. There's eight water soluble B vitamins. B12 needs folate B9, pyridoxine B6, riboflavin B2, niacin B3 and thiamine B1. Taking just one B vitamin can throw the others out of whack. Taking a B Complex supplement along with B12 shots would...
  13. I'm saying you need to talk to your GI. You said he was going to check for deficiencies after your EGD. Ask him about Wet Beriberi. Read the symptoms and more about Wet Beriberi, page 7 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK537204/ If your symptoms are similar to the description, you make the decision of what you want to do next. I...
  14. @cnazrael89, I'm concerned about the edema. That can be a sign of thiamine insufficiency. It's so high up your leg! Since you have increased your gluten consumption, your body may be running out of thiamine. Dr. Derek Lonsdale has researched thiamine and says that the body's requirement for Thiamine increases with the amount of carbohydrates...
  15. Hello, @Jimmy123, There's been a few discussions on other threads about shared kitchens and cross contamination. NonCeliacs putting the knife they've used to smear mayo on their gluteny bread back in the jar, thus contaminating the whole jar? Has something happened to you that prompted the question? Can you elaborate?
  16. I haven't had a problem with Kroger store brand.
  17. @Hb333, I have DH, negative serology and type two diabetes. Diabetes, anemia and vitamin deficiencies can cause negative serology. DH is pressure sensitive. It often forms under bra straps, under elastic bands (underwear, waistband), where seams of clothing presses on skin. Elbows and knees can get lots of pressure, but DH can occur anywhere...
  18. Not my forte, but maybe someone more fluent in computer stuff can help. And there we go! Thanks, @trents!
  19. I can have a delay of a couple of days, but other times I can have an immediate reaction. It comes from quantity and quality (some flours contain more gluten than others), and if I've been glutened recently before (level of antibodies). Daycare may use Play Doh, paste, and finger paints, (all may contain wheat) in addition to contaminated snacks. ...
  20. Have you tried keeping a food journal of what your son eats and when the rash flares up?
  21. Yes, the antibodies originate in the small intestine, but the antibodies circulate in the blood stream. The antibodies will bind to gluten (or cells in our bodies that resemble gluten) raising an "Intruder Alert". Immune cells like mast cells react to this alarm wherever they may be located in the body, intestines or nasal passages, lungs, throat, etc....
  22. Hmmm, misspelled...auto-speller....should be... Attack Thanks
  23. But what are you eating? Have you tried keeping a food journal? Does your doctor aware you have diarrhea that badly? I'm concerned. I had accidental bowel movements when I had Gastrointestinal Beriberi, a form of thiamine deficiency that doctors overlook. If it is thiamine deficiency, taking Thiamine should help stop it.
  24. @trents, That may be true for the initial trigger for Celiac Disease, but in people already with Celiac Disease, any exposure can stimulate the immune cells already trained to attack gluten to go into high gear again. This is called histamine intolerance and mast cell activation syndrome.
  25. @Outlaw, Welcome to the forum, Kelly! Lactase is the enzyme that "digests" lactose, the sugar in milk. Lactase is made by cells in the tips of the villi in the small intestine. As the antibodies against gluten also attack our own cells, these lactase producing cells get damaged and can no longer produce lactase resulting in lactose intolerance...
