  1. @Marissa221, Sulfites cause mast cells to release lots of histamine, which is also what happens during the autoimmune reaction to gluten. Here's a good article... https://www.livestrong.com/article/108427-list-foods-sulfite-allergies/
  2. Forgot to mention that Sulfites are naturally occurring in anything fermented, like soy sauce, wines, sauerkraut and pickles. Apparently gochujang is a fermented chili paste...
  3. Yes, fentanyl does have nitrogen. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4137794/ Just because you eat it doesn't mean your body absorbs it. B12 needs an intrinsic factor to be absorbed. Alcohol disrupts the absorption of vitamins like B12 and Thiamine. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15138463/ Anemia of Autoimmune diseases...
  4. @Julie Fairchild, I hate those horrible muscle cramps and spasms! I tried L - Glutamine and had a horrible reaction, too. I found that taking magnesium citrate and thiamine Vitamin B1 has helped get rid of them. In the morning and at midday, I take Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine (because this form helps heal the gastrointestinal...
  5. Hi, @Lobstah, Welcome back! I will take an educated guess. DH is associated with B12 malabsorption. B12 malabsorption causes anemia. Anemia affects production of red blood cells as well as white blood cells (like IgA antibodies). DH is a aggregation of deposits of IgA antibodies in the skin. No IgA, no DH. You might...
  6. Hi, @Marissa221, I have a hypersensitivity to Sulfites. Sulfite Sensitivity can be found in Celiac Disease. Sulfites are used to prevent discoloration on potato products and chips. Because this is considered part of processing, Sulfites don't have to be listed on the label. I cannot tolerate Ore-Ida frozen potatoes. I have a reaction every...
  7. @Julie Fairchild, Your journey to diagnosis sounds a lot like mine! I dove into liver, too! 😺 Years of misdiagnosis! I sympathize completely. Anemia and Diabetes can cause false negatives on blood tests for Celiac, and I had both. My blood tests were negative, too, so I opted for genetic testing. With two positive genes for Celiac, and an ar...
  8. This article discusses the benefits of vitamins and minerals in H. Pylori.... The Effects of Vitamins and Micronutrients on Helicobacter pylori Pathogenicity, Survival, and Eradication: A Crosstalk between Micronutrients and Immune System https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8942682/
  9. Toe-walking can also be caused by a deficiency in Thiamine Vitamin B 1 and magnesium. https://yourautismgameplan.com/6-reasons-why-autistic-children-toe-walk/
  10. @Charliexxx, It's not just B12 and Vitamin D deficiencies. Doctors know those are the only two tests for vitamin levels that are fairly reliable. The thing is we can have vitamin deficiencies before the blood levels change. Doctors don't mention or pay attention to the other B vitamins that are needed for all eight B vitamins to work properly...
  11. @Blue-eyed bandit, Having the two Celiac genes plus the high DGP antibodies would be enough for me to decide to remain gluten free whether or not intestinal damage was found, as a preventive measure. DGP antibodies are developed first in young people. The tTg antibodies come later. @Posterboy and I have found some scientific research papers...
  12. Perhaps we should start our own Celiac City where gluten is not to be found for miles around. Gluten free restaurants, grocery stores, bed and breakfasts, retirement homes, amusement park, etc. and no worries! My local hospital can't get a gluten free/dairy free diet right yet, so nursing home care is scary. Do let us know what you find...
  13. @Gilly M, I am thrilled that you have found my blog useful. I'm grateful Scott Adams lets me share here so others don't have to reinvent the wheel. I asked about the salt intake because thiamine deficiency can manifest as Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) resulting in low blood pressure and increasing salt intake is recommended...
  14. @Jnapier, Welcome to the forum. I found this interesting article for you. https://www.hormonesmatter.com/urological-and-sexual-symptoms-in-male-thiamine-deficiency/
  15. @Gilly M, I'm so glad you found this helpful! You can read my blog for more excerpts of my story and saved research. Yes, I am very indebted to Dr. Derrick Lonsdale and Dr. Chandler Marrs. I bought their book. (Try the Library.) Elliot Overton has written articles on Dr. Marrs' website, www.hormonesmatter.com, but has his own website, eonutrition...
  16. @Rogol72, Oh! Definitely, definitely, I understand about falling off the wagon...and into the cheese barrel! Sharp cheddar cheese! And chocolate ice cream! Argh! I blame it on the exogenous opioids in dairy. I get blepharitis and eczema everywhere afterwards. Not pretty. Very itchy. Vitamin A helps blepharitis in addition to omega threes...
  17. @Rogol72, I've got it, too. I can't take fish oil, but I can take FLAXSEED Oil, which does the same thing.
  18. @Marissa221, Hi! Thiamine will help with PMS and period cramps. The Effects of Vitamin B1 on Ameliorating the Premenstrual Syndrome Symptoms https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4825494/ Just make sure the thiamine hydrochloride or benfotiamine supplements are gluten free. A hot water bottle works wonders, too! Hope...
  19. @Gilly M, Hi! I'm happy to answer any questions. Figuring out Thiamine dosage depends on many factors like how deficient you are, how active you are, what you eat, your size, health problems, etc. So it's really a matter of trying different dosages to see what works for you. Be your own guinea pig! The World Health Organization WHO says...
  20. Thiamine deficiency is found in 86% of Diabetics (doesn't matter if Type One or Two). Diabetes causes more Thiamine to be excreted by the kidneys. Benfotiamine has been shown to improve gastrointestinal healing and helps regulate blood sugar levels.
  21. @Patricia Hubbard, I do hope your doctors will at least try the IV thiamine, if for no other reason than to rule it out. Refeeding Syndrome is a concern since you are so emaciated. In Refeeding Syndrome, electrolytes and minerals may become unbalanced. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2440847/ Thiamine is safe and nontoxic...
  22. Welcome to the forum, @Gary Hamilton! I've had problems with swollen lymph nodes in my neck. My lymph nodes have shrunk and don't hurt since I started supplementing with high dose Thiamine. This explains.... http://www.hormonesmatter.com/recurrent-fever-swollen-glands-febrile-lymphadenopathy-thiamine/ Shortness of breath (sailors'...
  23. Welcome to the forum, @Marissa221! Keeping a food/mood/poo'd journal can help you pinpoint problematic foods. You also need to look at how much carbohydrates you are eating. Eating too many carbohydrates can feed bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract causing them to grow out of the large intestine where they belong and into the small intestine...
  24. @Patricia Hubbard, Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly. Symptoms you mentioned that caught my attention include nausea, fatigue, unintentional weight loss, loss of appetite. These are all symptoms I experienced when I had thiamine deficiency prior to my Celiac diagnosis. Doctors don't usually think of thiamine deficiency...
  25. @grossi, Welcome to the forum! Thiamine deficiency can cause those symptoms. Thiamine is Vitamin B 1. Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 are the only vitamins frequently tested for. Vitamins like Thiamine are used inside cells and organs. Blood tests can't measure vitamins inside cells. Blood tests can reflect how much of a vitamin you've eaten...
