There are great tasting gluten-free equivalents to everything that you listed. There is a gluten-free chocolate doughnut hole out there that tastes fantastic. No difference whatsoever between gluten-free and regular. Canyon bakehouse makes great tasting bread. Betty Crocker has a great gluten free chocolate cake mix so you can make your own cake.

ARCHIVED A1 And Why I Can Not Trust Kraft
tessa25 replied to hepcat's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know this will go over like a lead weight, but I've had a couple of things come up low gluten on my Nima sensor. It can detect as low as 5ppm so it's entirely possible that the items had less than the 20ppm standard. Not going to list them as it is most likely <20ppm based on ingredients. -

ARCHIVED Blood work positive, awaiting confirmation...can symptoms be so come-and-go?
tessa25 replied to kg51's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
An endoscopy would tell if you have celiac. Once testing is done you could try strict gluten free (no restaurants) for a few months if you want to see if gluten free helps. CYA: I have no medical background whatsoever. -
ARCHIVED Blood work positive, awaiting confirmation...can symptoms be so come-and-go?
tessa25 replied to kg51's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A positive on anyone celiac test should lead to a gastroenterologist doing an endoscopy to see if you have celiac. You do have a positive so you should do the next step. The positive is not overly high so it's not a slam dunk for celiac. Since you do have gastro related pain you should have a gastroenterologist run their standard series of tests to see... -
ARCHIVED Help please- rash, labs, and more
tessa25 replied to nestowyn's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A positive on any one celiac test means you should get a gastroenterologist to do an endoscopy/biopsies for celiac. >100 is very high so I'm thinking you have your answer. I am not familiar with the procedure for DH testing. I think it involves getting a dermatologist to do biopsies next to the rash. You are supposed to keep eating gluten until all celiac... -
Blood test interpretation

A positive on any one celiac test should lead to an endoscopy/biopsies being done by a gastroenterologist. You have to keep eating gluten until all celiac testing is done. -
ARCHIVED IgA went up after 4 months gluten free?
tessa25 replied to Janel's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Are you talking about TTG IGA, DGP IGA or IGA? The first two will go down on a gluten free diet. IGA is just there to tell you if the first two tests are valid. -
ARCHIVED tips and recommendations
tessa25 replied to BirdieH's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Here's my current list of favorites: Note: insert the words "gluten free" in every item mentioned as some of the companies also sell non gluten free stuff. It's tedious to write that phrase all the time. Bread: - Canyon bakehouse without question is the most realistic tasting bread. They have white, fake rye, multigrain and bagels (the bagels... -
ARCHIVED 6 Mo Blood Work - Labeled "Non Compliant"
tessa25 replied to StressedByCeliac's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Those numbers are fantastic for 6 months! Keep up the good work. As long as your numbers are going down your doing fine. And your TTG IGA is normal, fantastic. -
ARCHIVED Need help desperately now!
tessa25 replied to gluten-free girl 67's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I always bring my own food. So I never have to ask what's in the food. My friends joke that they love inviting me to dinner as it doesn't cost anything. -
ARCHIVED Feeling like a burden to family/friends?
tessa25 replied to SugarySpiceSassy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you get your own chest freezer you can store frozen pizza or portion out/freeze some pizza fixins and cook yourself a pizza on pizza night. If you guys eat Chinese takeout you can grab some Feel Good Food Chinese food from your freezer and heat up chinese food for yourself. If you can find a few restaurants that are safe for you, suggest one of those... -

ARCHIVED New to this and so so clueless!
tessa25 replied to KTgoesGF's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Here's what I found out regarding food: Note: insert the words "gluten free" in every item mentioned as some of the companies also sell non gluten free stuff. It's tedious to write that phrase all the time. Get a chest freezer to store all of your frozen gluten-free foods. Makes things easier. Bread: - Canyon bakehouse without question... -

ARCHIVED Anyone found a GOOD gluten-free pizza ?
tessa25 replied to Cheerymarie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You can try making your own pizza. I have found out that to make a NY style pizza you need to start with Grande 50/50 mozzarella cheese or whole milk mozzarella cheese Escalon 6 in 1 ground tomatoes (do not cook before putting on pizza) Pizza crust: Udis for thin and crispy Dr Schar for thick and chewy Etalia (Colorado... -
ARCHIVED Eliminating dairy while healing
tessa25 replied to tessa25's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Nut milks have calcium added to the ingredients. For many the gut damage is patchy, therefore nutrients from dairy are processed from the parts without damage. So unless the damage is everywhere enzymes will be produced to break it down. My post states in multiple places that dairy is for people that do not have symptoms from dairy. My gastroenterologist... -
ARCHIVED Eliminating dairy while healing
tessa25 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I know it's commonly stated here to avoid dairy, but I disagree. Celiac has a higher incidence of osteopenia and osteoporosis so eliminating a main source of calcium, in my opinion, should only be done if dairy is causing symptoms. I eliminated dairy for three months because I borderline failed a dairy scratch test at an allergist. There was no positive... -
ARCHIVED What do ya think of my blood tests?
tessa25 replied to Karib574's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A high on any one test should lead to an endoscopy/biopsies being done to confirm a celiac diagnosis. It's a quick and easy procedure. They put you to sleep and then you wake up and go home. You need to keep eating gluten until the endoscopyis done. -
ARCHIVED Week 1 of being diagnosed
tessa25 replied to sarahbee1989's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Here's my suggested foods spiel: If you're currently on a meat, potato, and veggies diet then relax because this is gonna be easy. If not you might want to switch to a meat, veggies, and potatoes diet at least for a while. So here's what I found out regarding food: Note: insert the words "gluten free" in every item mentioned as some of the... -

ARCHIVED Colonoscopy/endoscope showed celiac
tessa25 replied to CeliacinKY's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You need to keep eating gluten daily until they do the blood test. Perhaps you can call on Monday and request the blood test be ordered that day. Ask for the full celiac panel which includes: TTG IGA TTG IGG DGP IGA DGP IGG EMA IGA Make sure to list all of the above tests. Then you can get tested on Monday and you... -
ARCHIVED Went to a new Gastro...it went badly
tessa25 replied to HeatherFeather44's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If the doc didn't have your celiac levels tested I can give you the spiel on how to order your own blood tests. Maybe you're getting trace amounts of gluten. -
Home testing for gluten reliable?
tessa25 replied to mystic's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know anything about enterolab. In the US you can order your own blood tests though. The full celiac panel includes: TTG IGA TTG IGG DGP IGA DGP IGG EMA IGA You can either have a gastroenterologist order the full celiac panel plus whatever else they typically test for, or you can order your own test at a site like walkinlab...
