ARCHIVED Tired of peoples reactions to my restrictions

I say "medical diet" then change the subject. If they pry I say there's more to life than illness and change the subject again. -
ARCHIVED Celiac or no Celiac
tessa25 replied to Johnny55400's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Katz is frozen. Everything else usually isn't. Gluten free breads seem to dry out on me if I leave them out or in the fridge so I freeze them if I'm not using them in a day. Some of that stuff is at the major grocery stores, but the stuff I get at the natural grocery stores I stock up on so I don't have to go very often. glutenfreemall.com has a very large... -
ARCHIVED Celiac or no Celiac

You need to be 100% even if you don't feel anything. If you're currently on a meat, potato, and veggies diet then relax because this is gonna be easy. If not you might want to switch to a meat, veggies, and potatoes diet initially. Here's my list of gluten free equivalents to help make the switch easier: Note: insert the words "gluten... -
ARCHIVED Food...

You should keep eating gluten until all testing is done. If you haven't had the full celiac blood test panel then I would do so if I were you. If you want to test some gluten free things while you are still eating gluten then I'd recommend Canyon Bakehouse mountain white bread, fake rye bread, multigrain and definitely their bagels. Quite good. For pasta... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free breads
tessa25 replied to Lopez6amsell's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Canyon Bakehouse is the only major retail bread I truly like. And I liked it back in the beginning. They have mountain white, rye (fake of course), multigrain, bagels (fabulous). I've also tried Udis, Bfree, glutino. Schar makes a baguette that works for sandwiches. -

Cook thick zucchini slices in olive oil and salt to taste. Eat large quantities. Zucchini has fiber, magnesium and water. A perfect trio for getting things moving. 2 mile brisk walks every day also gets things moving. -
Here's a list of things that get stuff moving for me. 400mg magnesium oxide per day, cooked zucchini (2 per day), 2 mile brisk walks, hot broth.

ARCHIVED Nausea!
tessa25 replied to Maddiecl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My only symptom was slight nausea. Lasted 6 months before it started to only happen if I ate too much food in a sitting. I would eat simple, bland foods and eat 6 small meals instead of three big ones. -

I've lost some of my sense of taste due most likely to zinc deficiency from not eating beef for a couple of years. Zinc supplement doesn't seem to help, but eating .5 to 1 lb of beef per day definitely does help. I noticed a positive change within days of eating beef. I don't know if your diet includes beef, but if it doesn't there's a reason for you. ... -
I started losing my sense of taste from not eating beef for too long. Now I'm eating lots of beef and getting it back. Not the same as hair loss.

ARCHIVED Costco's Nature's Domain Dog Food NOT GLUTEN FREE
tessa25 replied to AndyAmbiguous's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've tested several different grain free, gluten free dog foods and treats using my Nima sensor (with water to soften the food) and have come to the conclusion that the only way to have gluten free is to use raw or freeze dried. So I just keep that in mind around my dogs. It helps that I've never been a fan of my dogs licking my face. -
ARCHIVED Celiac disease possibly but not tested should i?
tessa25 replied to Alecias39's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
One way to go gluten free without waiting and still get part of a diagnosis would be to do the blood test today. You can sign up at an online test site today and have your blood test done today. So here's my spiel (just a customer): You can either have a gastroenterologist order the full celiac panel plus whatever else they typically test for, or you... -
ARCHIVED second biopsy and eating gluten
tessa25 replied to Becofhearts's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Eating cooked zucchini (2 zucchinis per day) has always prevented constipation for me. I slice it then cook in a pan with light olive oil and salt. I don't know if it just works for me or would for others. -

ARCHIVED TTG level post diagnosis
tessa25 replied to ladyfood's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am 54 and was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago. Had no improvement the first 3 months and decided to get my blood tested monthly while I figured out what I can eat. That was 2 1/2 years ago. I only get better on a spice free low acid liquid diet. When I stuck with just mashed potato soup and vanilla ice cream my numbers dropped by 10 points or more in a month... -
