  1. I actually laughed in relief when I was diagnosed. It was such a relief to know what was wrong with me. I've never been angry at celiac disease. Now doctors are another story. I've spent a lot of time and energy releasing my anger at the ignorant doctors who were able to figure out what was wrong with me (took 45 years).
  2. I just made my choices. I'm looking forward to learning what that survey was about.
  3. I agree with everyone. There is no way I would knowingly eat anything that was cross contaminated.
  4. I'm with Jessica. All it takes is one clumsy employee to drop a bun in the tuna salad to mess me up.

    ARCHIVED Gratitude!

I also don't miss fruitcake - I used to get one every year from my boss. I finally escaped from it.
  6. Thanks for sharing. The food looks wonderful!!!
  7. What Plantime says is true, it's a phase we all go through. Some of us dwell there longer then others. February will be three years and I've finally got to the acceptance phase. There is gluten free beer, perhaps you can do some research and figure out how they are doing it and get back to the making it yourself.
  8. Thanks for the tip. I glad I haven't ordered tuna salad anywhere.
  9. My mother accidentally put sorghum flour in our gluten-free mixture once - it was la lot less crumbly. So now we add it to our recipes all the time. Still experimenting with the amount.
  10. Two different ways of saying the same thing.
  11. Thanks for posting this. All the recipes look yummy. Can't wait to try one.
  12. How wonderful. I want to work with you!!! I opted out of the Christmas lunch this year. No one even blinked. I told them I didn't want to go someplace where I couldn't eat the food. Didn't occur to them to go where I could. It is a small office (5 people). I'm disappointed in them.
  13. Yes - mine is so bright yellow it looks as if it will glow in the dark . Green? What causes that?
  14. Glad you have such good friends!!!!
  15. I don't know how to even begin to make you feel better about your situation. I just didn't want to leave you waiting for an answer. I sorta like your husband's solution, only I think I would have been tempted to just leave the box at their house. How about a hug {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
  16. Very interesting!!!
  17. Like you I'm bothered by the mixing of gluten and gluten free items. I don't buy from the stores that don't separate them.
  18. I've had the same pattern. My outward symptoms came and went, but now that I am 47 I realize I had celiac disease all along. Probably because of this pattern I had a hard time being diagnosed. I too was treated like a "head" case. If I had a dollar for everytime I heard "There is nothing wrong with you, go home," I would be a rich woman. By the time...
  19. Same doctor found both problems at the same time. I don't think I have had a healthy immune system since childhood - if then. Trouble is I don't look sick, so no doctor would believe me when I said I was sick. I've been off the Candidia diet for about the same length of time I was on it - 18 months. No re-occurence.
  20. I had a medical doctor who was into alternative medicine. She diagnosed the candida. I followed the diet that Dr. William Crook suggests in the Yeast Connection for 18 months. Got rid of the candidia and all my food allegries. I was extremely strict and didn't cheat - I did this in addition to the gluten free diet. It was tough, but I'm glad I did it...

    ARCHIVED New Here!

Welcome to the board Regan. Glad you found us.
  22. To answer Nancym's question I live in Middle Tennessee. Three miles from the geographical center of the state (both n-s and e-w). I like the idea of creeping thyme. I am a little sensitive to smell so I need to test that first. Laurie I didn't realize that Scottish and Irish moss required a lot of watering. None of the research I did mentioned...
  23. I have gotten rid of most of the grass in my yard and have lots of garden plots. Most have brick borders/edging. At first I thought I would have stone paths between the plots. Then reality set in. That's expensive doings there. Anyway, I think I've come up with another solution: moss. I'm thinking if I can pull up what little grass I have in the pathways...
