I am generally pretty sensitive, but my reactions are relatively mild. I got glutened once before with this pregnancy and it definitely was worse than the other day. I'm just wondering if my sleeping right away made it easier to deal with or not as bad as it should have been. I know there are a lot of other variables to take into consideration. It just seems...

ARCHIVED Amusement Parks (six Flags New England)
Guhlia replied to bremac's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I'm assuming by your response that you called. Are we allowed to bring snacks and so forth in to Six Flags parks? -
ARCHIVED I Made Apple Cheese Danish!
Guhlia replied to chrissy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Sounds delicious! Care to share your recipe? Do you think it would freeze and reheat well? -
Ok, we went out to eat two nights ago at Carraba's and I got soup and after I had eaten half the bowl I realized there was a noodle floating around in it. So, I KNOW I got glutened. I started feeling bloated about an hour or so later, almost like I was going to explode (I'm pregnant too). I got really tired and drunk-like feeling too, so I went straight to...

ARCHIVED Building My Gluten Free Recipe Box
Guhlia replied to lob6796's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Allrecipes.com has tons of naturally gluten free recipes. With their rating system it's easy to see which recipes are popular favorites. This is where I get almost all of my recipe ideas. Even recipes that contain gluten are easily modified to be gluten free. While you're over there, search for the World's Best Lasagna. It really is the best!!! -
ARCHIVED Amusement Parks (six Flags New England)
Guhlia replied to bremac's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I think through the ADA they have to either be able to provide food for you OR allow you to bring your own food inside the park. Call customer relations and speak to someone about it. Look into the ADA first though so you are well enough educated about it to argue. -
Are there any gluten free bug sprays that are kid friendly? I have a 3 year old and we got eaten alive last Friday. It would be nice to be able to put some bug spray on her at the races.

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Meal... Got Sick..
Guhlia replied to lob6796's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you're still eating gluten foods it is very possible that ANY food will aggrivate your stomach. It generally takes some time being strictly gluten free to start feeling better. Some feel better within days, some weeks, some months. One gluten free meal probably won't make a differenct in how you're feeling. -
ARCHIVED We're Going To Disney World!
Guhlia replied to e&j0304's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Disney World is amazing for gluten free meals. It's one of the few places that I actually feel safe eating. They have separate kitchens in many places within the parks for preparing allergy orders. Call ahead and they can e-mail you lists of gluten free foods and food locations for each park you're planning on visiting. They have a very extensive list... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Handle Birthday Parties?
Guhlia replied to johalex's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If it's a birthday party, I see no need for your son to feel like he has to share his special treat(s). Chances are that the other kids wouldn't even notice if nothing was said about it. I just bring my daughter one gluten free cupcake and a snack similar to whatever they're serving. I ask when I RSVP. -
ARCHIVED American Idol Fans?

Argh... Well, House's season finale is Tuesday, so I guess we can't start a new thread about House. I don't really watch anything else. At least not this time of the year. Everything I watch is ending or over for the year. Amanda, you need to post a new avatar with your big, toothy, braceless grin! -
If you want to try a really great bread recipe, similar to bakery fresh white bread (not wonder sponge), use the classic white bread recipe in the Incredible Edible Gluten Free Foods for Kids cookbook by Shari L. Sanderson. Not only is the recipe fabulous, but it's relatively easy to prepare. If you don't want to follow a recipe, definitely try the Gluten...

Okay, so I decided to go with that nursery set from Target, ordered the whole set today. It doesn't come with any wall hangings or anything so I figure I'll hang the comforter. I was also planning on scanning in the floral patterns and making sillouhette (sp?) framed pictures using the different patterns. Does anyone have any other cute ideas for decorating...

Ooohhhh... We should start another House thread. This time we should keep it going though. It's such a great show. We just started watching a few months ago. LOVE IT!!! We're also currently watching season 1 on DVD and catching up on old ones on USA. Ha. How many seasons are there? -

So, what shows do all of you watch regularly (if any)? We watch House and that's about it now that Idol is over. -
ARCHIVED Smoking And Celiac Disease
Guhlia replied to Kellygirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
There was a link to a website posted a while ago on a different thread that had a link to cigarette additives from one company. There were hundreds of additives. I believe barley, rye, and wheat were ALL listed. I couldn't find the old thread. Perhaps someone else will. -
Thanks everyone for all the support. Hubby seems to be in a better mood this afternoon, so hopefully things will return to normal soon. I'm hoping to be able to talk to him about last night before the end of the week. I just really need time to calm down and I want to make sure he's not on edge. He has horrible communication skills and tends to get angry...

ARCHIVED Wheat In Wine?
Guhlia replied to jnclelland's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah, Kendall-Jackson had told me that a few years ago when I was first looking into gluten free alcoholic beverages. They said that some, not all, of their barrels are sealed with a substance that may contain gluten. I have never had a gluten problem with wines and we have had Kendall Jackson on several occasions. -

The winners do very well in their careers too usually. Look at Fantasia Barrino, she's starring in a Broadway show. That's pretty big. Plus, her album is awesome! She's done other acting things as well. Carrie Underwood is unbeatable in the country scene. She's won how many awards so far? Kelly Clarkson is doing very well for herself musically. The only one... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Have A List Of gluten-free Art Supplies?
Guhlia replied to lleviton's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
So FLOAM probably is gluten free, they just didn't know what gluten was, right? Argh... These companies that don't know what's in their products... -
ARCHIVED How You Choose Your Login Name
Guhlia replied to little d's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Mine is my last name, modified... Guhl... Changed to Guhlia thanks to the Wedding Singer (Julia Guhlia). Not that my name is Julia... -
No, it's definitely not normal behavior for him. He's generally very supportive. We own our own business and our only employee just quit, no notice, sort of my fault. The guy kept putting my things in our shed or losing them and I asked my husband several times to speak to him. He refused and told me to do it. I did and the guy walked out. I was nice about...

Nope... He acted like he didn't even care. I'm really struggling to deal with that right now. He was so supportive last time. I know he's having a really rough week and all, but I just assumed he'd be there for me if anything happened. Now I'm not so sure. I called him from the hospital and he didn't even answer the phone. Called me back and didn't say more...

ARCHIVED Pregnancy Test Question
Guhlia replied to LoveBeingATwin's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
A very small amount of blood in the very early weeks of pregnancy is often (not always) considered normal and harmless. It's relatively common within that first month or so. Let us know how your doctor's appointment goes. -
ARCHIVED American Idol Fans?

I didn't care who won last night until the judges all pushed so hard for Jordin. Now I'm cheering for Blake. And that song they both had to do last night??? Horrible. I wouldn't want that on either of their first albums.
