They're really good. They do, however, seem to go stale quicker than other cookies. We don't eat sweets very often my house and we never are able to finish a bag before they go bad. They are, in my grocery store, cheaper than other gluten free cookies, so that's a major plus.

Ok, I know Red Bulls are great when you get glutened, but I don't think I can drink one of those while pregnant. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could safely take that might help with this horrible brain fog? I can deal with the cramping and belly stuff, but the brain fog is killing me! Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm already taking a prenatal so...

Just a suggestion here... If you're eating Quaker brand rice cakes they are NOT considered gluten free by the company. They suggest that Celiacs avoid all Quaker products due to cross contamination. -
ARCHIVED Super Simple Hot Dog Buns
Guhlia replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yeah, they didn't get super tough. They were a little tougher than normal, but definitely the most edible hot dog bun I've had yet and I've had a lot because that's something my husband really enjoys for a quick lunch now and then. It was nasty, wasn't it? Luckily, our feature was over before the rain started so we were leaving when it started to rain... -

I never really like hot dogs OR hot dog buns pre-dx. However, I really want my 3 year old to feel "normal" and not miss out on typical kid foods. She doesn't get that kind of stuff often, but it sure is nice to be able to give it to her here and there. I, actually, with this recipe, have grown very fond of hot dogs. Which I guess is good because there aren... -

Nope. The length of hot dog buns is approximately the width of a loaf pan. I bake it and then slice it into hot dog buns the short way. Does that make more sense? Then, once it's sliced into hot dog buns, I make the slit down the middle to put the hot dogs in each individual bun. -

Ok guys, we took these to the races tonight. It was 55 degrees out (chilly). I wrapped them in a paper towel slightly warm and put them in a ziploc bag. They sat in my backpack in the cold for about 3 hours or so before we ate. They were cold by that point, but they tasted great. They didn't get really tough like most gluten free bread. They were pretty good... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Pizza In Orlando?
Guhlia replied to bbuster's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Only some links are banned. Some businesses come on here and spam the board with links to their website and so on. That's why some businesses links are prohibited. It's to stop the spamming. -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Pizza In Orlando?
Guhlia replied to bbuster's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Downtown Disney (not a Disney park) has a bunch of restaurants. I personally recommend the Portabello Yacht Club. Definitely make reservations if you're headed there in the evening. They have gluten free pasta and will make spaghetti for kids (or adults). We went there every evening for half of our trip because the food was so good and they were so quick... -
ARCHIVED Finger Foods?

We just bought some of the bacon easy cheese. I read the label and it looked safe (Kraft). I haven't had any problems with it. -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Pizza At Uno's Chicago Grill?!?!?!?
Guhlia replied to Ellen A.'s topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Probably. I got our local Outback Steakhouse to carry gluten free beer for us just by asking the ordering manager. She had it for us within a week and now they stock it regularly. -
ARCHIVED Ivory Snow

Nobody knows? Does anyone know who the maker of Ivory Snow is so I can call them? -

Try rolling the grapes in rice cereal so they aren't so slippery. Perhaps he will be able to pick them up to eat them like that. As far as other finger foods, try small bits of chicken, cooked veggies, other fruits, baked fries cut into small pieces, Perky-O's original flavor, Dora stars cereal... -
ARCHIVED American Idol Fans?

Is anyone else really irritated by how tonight's show ended? That was just plain wrong to do to the youngest contestant on the show. I think it was cruel. -
Does anyone know if Ivory Snow, the powdered stuff, is gluten free? My mom wants to make something with Tori with ivory snow and she wanted me to check for her.

I actually didn't really care for Phil's performance, though much better than some other weeks. I think LaKisha may go this week... She really just isn't cutting it anymore. I actually think that Jordin may pull off the win this year! She's definitely coming from the underdog position, but I think she may pull it off. She went from mediocre to excellent and... -
ARCHIVED Coco Pebbles & Coco Dyno Bites
Guhlia replied to Jo.R's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think perhaps it's Cocoa Puffs, not pebbles, that you heard are unsafe. This happened a while ago, they added wheat starch. Rumor has it though that they are switching or have switched the formula back to being gluten free. I believe Malt O Meal changed their cereals to include wheat about a year ago. They now claim that none of their cereals are safe for... -
Trend or not, WOO HOO to the 86% jump in new product releases!!! So long as the government is defining gluten free (which they're working on), a gluten free trend can only help is with product increases and awareness.

The dough may or may not spread like this. I'm not sure. I had a bit that oozed out from my tin foil circle hamburger bun molds. I'm thinking that probably wouldn't work, but you could always try it on just one and see what happens. This recipe is from the Incredible Edible Gluten Free Food for Kids cookbook by Shari L. Sanderson and modified very slightly... -

I actually thought Sanjaya had a very nice voice, just way too quiet and unconfident. Plus, he was a horrible performer. His voice though, especially for a recording studio, would be great. I'd be willing to bet his first album will do very well. Plus, the record companies would have to be a fool not to snatch him up with all the controversy surrounding him... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Poptarts
Guhlia replied to justme's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'd be so happy if I could have a brown sugar and cinnamon pop tart again!!! Does anyone have a recipe for that style of frosting? That would save me some trial and error time. I'm thinking I can make the crust with a modified pie crust recipe, extra xantham and liquid to keep it from crumbling to bits when you touch it, like pie crust. I'm definitely going... -

I know, right? I'm probably the only idiot there that isn't shoveling a hot dog down my throat. This sounds sick, but I really miss good ol' racetrack food covered in clay dust from the track. Somehow, it just tastes better that way. -
ARCHIVED Just What Is Hay?
Guhlia replied to VydorScope's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Even if the hay/straw were safe, don't horses eat and roll in oats??? I don't think this would matter for circuses and what not, but I'd be wary of pony rides and the like. -
ARCHIVED Super Simple Hot Dog Buns
Guhlia replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm thinking that at room temperature they'll probably keep for 4-6 hours if wrapped in saran wrap before they start drying out. I haven't tried this, but they are super moist, so it might work if heading out on a picnic or taking it over to someone's house for a cookout. I may experiment with that this weekend at the races. I bought myself a thermos so... -

Self evaluations... Ugh... Just say you kick butt and leave it at that... Think they'd accept that??? Phil's definitely getting better again. I can't imagine he'll make it into the top 3 though. He's just not as good as the others. I really really really hope that Chris goes this week. I don't think I can stand another week of his nasal nonsense...
