    Oh my... What a mess that must have been!!! Just out of curiousity, are you sure it was a gluten reaction and not just a reaction to chemicals in the ink or paper? I'm super paranoid about gluten being in my house and I've never gotten glutened from eating while reading a newspaper.     I always use this combination: 3 parts white rice flour, 2 parts potato starch, 1 part tapioca starch. Then I add 1 teaspoon of xantham gum per 1 - 1-1/2 cups flour mix.     If you have a super Wal-mart near you, check out their grocery section. Their Great Value brand labels gluten free right on the label. Plus, it appears as though they don't label gluten free unless it's made in a gluten free facility. I could be wrong on that last part. They even label their juices and stuff.     I use Kinnikinnick's flours. They are made in a gluten free facility and I've had much better success with them than most other flours. For some reason my baked goods tend to turn out better if I'm using them rather than other brands. Perhaps it has something to do with the texture or something. I don't know.     I don't know about hamburger helper, but Mrs. Leepers makes a great hamburger helper alternative. It's not expensive either. They're on sale today at shopbydiet.com.

    It could absolutely be from sharing a toaster, especially since she lives off of bread. It could also be from the deli meat/cheese slicer. Some deli meats and cheeses contain gluten and the slicer doesn't get washed in between runs.     Carvel can make a gluten free ice cream cake. It won't cost any more than a regular ice cream cake. I think all they have to leave out are the crunchies.     ArtGirl... I have only ever had ONE baked good turn out that called for gelatin in the recipe. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but the goods always turn out gummy in the middle no matter how long or at what temperature they're cooked at. It's frustrating. I generally avoid recipes that call for gelatin now.
