  1. Be sure to let us know how it goes. I've been really wanting to do a Disney cruise after the baby is old enough. We have a 3 year old who would just LOVE that. Me, I'm not keen on boats, but I'd do anything to see her smile. Plus, my husband is sick of going to Disney World for every single vacation. I like it because it's so easy to find things to eat in...
  2. Barkat also makes gluten free regular ice cream cones. My daughter LOVES these! We go to our local McDonalds and they put fresh gloves on and fill it up for her. She thinks this is the biggest treat EVER. They're a little pricey, but one box will last you half the summer. I got mine through gluten free.com and they were here overnight (I live in PA). Open...
  3. Oh my... What a mess that must have been!!! Just out of curiousity, are you sure it was a gluten reaction and not just a reaction to chemicals in the ink or paper? I'm super paranoid about gluten being in my house and I've never gotten glutened from eating while reading a newspaper. If there really is gluten in the ink or paper I would much rather discontinue...
  4. Is there a link between apraxia and Celiac? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I always use this combination: 3 parts white rice flour, 2 parts potato starch, 1 part tapioca starch. Then I add 1 teaspoon of xantham gum per 1 - 1-1/2 cups flour mix. This turns out really well in almost everything I've tried making. I generally use regular recipes and just sub this for all purpose flour. I've only had two failed recipes out of all the...
  6. I nursed my first while actively sick with Celiac. We didn't know what it was at the time and ended up having to stop breastfeeding. Though I produced enough milk in quantity it was not filling enough for my daughter. It looked like water with a little milk added. It definitely didn't look right which I only discovered once I started pumping to try to increase...

  8. Happy birthday, Lynn! I hope you have a great one!
  9. If you have a super Wal-mart near you, check out their grocery section. Their Great Value brand labels gluten free right on the label. Plus, it appears as though they don't label gluten free unless it's made in a gluten free facility. I could be wrong on that last part. They even label their juices and stuff. Plus, the Great Value brand is really tasty and...
  10. I use Kinnikinnick's flours. They are made in a gluten free facility and I've had much better success with them than most other flours. For some reason my baked goods tend to turn out better if I'm using them rather than other brands. Perhaps it has something to do with the texture or something. I don't know. Anyway, you can buy them online at www.kinnikinnick...
  11. We really like the chicken alfredo, cheeseburger macaroni, and the beef lasagna flavors. They're great when you have major time restraints, plus kid friendly too.
  12. I don't know about hamburger helper, but Mrs. Leepers makes a great hamburger helper alternative. It's not expensive either. They're on sale today at shopbydiet.com.
  13. It could absolutely be from sharing a toaster, especially since she lives off of bread. It could also be from the deli meat/cheese slicer. Some deli meats and cheeses contain gluten and the slicer doesn't get washed in between runs. Has she eliminated all gluten from her personal care products? ie: shampoo, body lotion, hair mousse, hairspray, eye cream,...
  14. Carvel can make a gluten free ice cream cake. It won't cost any more than a regular ice cream cake. I think all they have to leave out are the crunchies. You'll have to call your local Carvel for more info, but it seems like something worth looking into if you like to celebrate. Also, perhaps you could suggest this for other office parties so you can take...
  15. Blake is one of the newer names to go onto our list. We love that name! Still, I think the family name is priority for us.
  16. Gunther is a very German name, as is Guhl. From what I gather, it means nothing in German, just a last name. It was my grandmother's maiden name and she liked it so much she kept her name when she got married. I remember her always being very proud of her German heritage. When my mother was sick and couldn't take care of my brother and I, my grandmother took...
  17. Maybe... I definitely felt a lot better after talking to you guys. I really needed some support and I'm just not getting it here at home. Funny, I thought the "terrible two's" were adorable. She was SO much easier back then.
  18. I just wanted to let you guys know that today went MUCH better than the past two weeks have. We had class this morning, then we came home and I had her make her own lunch (BIG HIT), then we played outside until nap time. I told her the rules on boundaries BEFORE we went outside and it worked MUCH better than trying to stop her while she's running away. When...
  19. Can you have any peanut butters, or maybe make your own? My mother used to make me stuffed monkeys. They're dates stuffed with peanut butter then rolled in powdered sugar. They're very sweet, but tasty. I also like dried fruit for a sweet, candy-like snack. You could even dry your own fruit if you have many sensitivities. Plus, dried fruit keeps for a...
  20. You guys are the best. I think I will definitely look into more classes for her so that we have less down time. That will make it easier to keep a tight schedule too. Maybe I can try to schedule one day at the park for playing outside and the rest busy busy busy. She likes to go shopping at the mall, so that can be part of our schedule too because I could...
  21. Last night was weird. I was actually surprised that Phil was in the bottom 3 after his performance Tuesday. I guess America really doesn't like him. I'm kind of glad to see Chris S. gone. He was one of my favorites in the beginning, but he's been getting on my nerves lately. Now... When will Sanjaya finally get booted?
  22. Thanks guys. I really needed to hear that I'm not alone in this. I feel like such a horrible mother sometimes, even though I know I'm not. My daughter is a beautiful, well rounded, happy child, so we must be doing something right. It's just hard to have a few bad days in a row and right now I think I'm working on about 6 bad days in a row. Ugh... Fortunately...
  23. Okay, please, please, please fill me in on the tricks here because I'm ready to go insane. My three year old daughter is driving me crazy. I absolutely adore her, she's everything to me, but I really just can't stand her right now. Is this normal? I'm 19 weeks pregnant and VERY hormonal. I don't remember it being this bad with my last pregnancy. My husband...
  24. Carla, I PM'd him too and haven't heard back. This was a few weeks ago. I'm worried about him too.
  25. ArtGirl... I have only ever had ONE baked good turn out that called for gelatin in the recipe. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but the goods always turn out gummy in the middle no matter how long or at what temperature they're cooked at. It's frustrating. I generally avoid recipes that call for gelatin now.
