ARCHIVED Could I Have Glutened My Eyes?
Guhlia replied to Lisa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My eyesight gets funky if I'm in a place where flour is in the air... I don't know why, it just does. I also get itchy and end up with a rash. Perhaps there is something to what you're saying. I never really thought about it before. -
Yup. Absolutely adore it. I grew up around racing. We started going to the track when I was about 3. I started racing when I was 7. I only quit a few years ago. We still go to the races two times a week every week. It's a blast. So, what kind of drag racing do the two of you do?
-
That may very well be. My memory is horrible. We went on the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour a few years ago... That was all drag racing. I probably told you that before though. We worked for Stewart Warner Performance and were doing a booth at each stop of the tour.

Yup... We just found out for sure this morning. I had the blood test yesterday. They called today to confirm. Am I glowing??? OOOOHHHHHHH..... I almost forgot... I got a Roomba too. That was a pretty awesome present. -
I'm not a Nascar fan, but I LOVE racing. We mostly like sprint cars, micro sprints, go karts, and so on. That's pretty much all the local scene is around here. Actually, our business focuses on making fuel injection systems for micro sprints. You into any other forms of racing?

Thanks everyone. I didn't mean to steal this thread. Our unofficial due date is August 31st, less than 2 weeks after my birthday. I'm very excited. The only downside is I'll have to miss the biggest race of the year. It's on my due date.

I'll be joining you on here Rusla... We just found out that we're pregnant, so I'll certainly be avoiding parties this year. I'm not a very social person anyway, so not being able to drink is a great excuse for me to stay home. I'd much rather curl up on the couch with my husband and my daughter and watch a good movie.

ARCHIVED Wraps?
Guhlia replied to mn farm gal's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Mission corn tortillas. Mission brand is the only brand I've found to be soft enough. You have to microwave them for 15 seconds before topping, then make sure you top them QUICKLY and roll them up before they get cool again. They taste great and they are nice and soft. -
ARCHIVED Magic Nuudles?
Guhlia replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I used to love Floam. I thought it was really fun. We never tried to stick it to anything though. We just played with it like Play-Doh. -

ARCHIVED Magic Nuudles?
Guhlia replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We hid it, but I hate to deprive her of the really cool stuff. It's bad enough we can't do Play-Doh without some planning. Anyone know if Floam is gluten free? -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Chicken Finger Breading
Guhlia replied to vampella's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I use Kinnikinnick's Crispy Coating mix. It's really really tasty, you can bake it and it still tastes fried. Leftover nuggets freeze well. One bag lasts me a few months and I have a two year old who loves chicken fingers. The best part is that it's not a lot of work, you don't need egg or milk or anything to dredge the meat in before coating it and it sticks... -

ARCHIVED Magic Nuudles?
Guhlia replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wow, THANKS Patti! I couldn't find a phone number on their website. I just found an e-mail address and they never e-mailed me back. Wow, I've been retarded the last few weeks. I'm so excited. Tori is going to freak when she wakes up from her nap and has a new art project to do. Thanks so much! -
I use xantham gum in everything I bake. I've had way too many failures from forgetting it or not adding enough.

Mmmmmm.... Brussel sprouts.... Making my mouth water. Fruit cake on the other hand is something I can definitely live without.

ARCHIVED What Was Your Favorite Christmas Gift?
Guhlia replied to Lisa's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
My husband tried to get me a purse that I've been wanting for months. Turns out the bag was discontinued. He wrapped up a long letter explaining everything he had to do to try to get me this purse. He even tried to buy it off a lady's shoulder (she wouldn't sell it). Then he tried to order it overseas and the shipping would have costed more than the purse... -
ARCHIVED Magic Nuudles?
Guhlia replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Anybody else know anything? I'm still waiting for the company to e-mail me back and my daughter is begging to play with them. -
My system couldn't handle probiotics. They made me awfully sick. I had to stop using them. I gave them a full week to work and I just stayed sick. I've heard the same from others. Perhaps some people are just sensitive to them.

ARCHIVED Magic Nuudles?
Guhlia posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know if magic nuudles are gluten free? Tori got some for Christmas from her grandmother and I need to know if she can play with them. Their website says they're made from cornstarch, but it doesn't give any other ingredients at all. I couldn't find any contact info either. -
ARCHIVED 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies
Guhlia replied to pinktulip's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
What proportions did you use for the 3 ingredient peanut butter cookies? I make them all the time for DH and they always turn out. Now if only I could dig up my recipe... -
I ditto what Lisa said. This board has been a literal lifesaver to me over the past two years. I keep thinking back to my first year gluten free and I can't imagine how I ever did this without having you guys. So, happy holidays to everyone. Thanks for starting a holiday thread, Lisa.

ARCHIVED Confused About Nicole
Guhlia replied to Nikki2003's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Some children don't need to gain any weight. Is she underweight? She looks very healthy in your avatar. Does she still play with Play-Doh? -
Yum... For those of you with a love for coconut you MUST try this recipe. They taste slightly macaroon-like, but with a cookie texture. Very good, very chewy. I used sweetened shredded coconut and they turned out really well. I also reduced the white sugar by about 2 Tablespoon fulls. Make sure that you cook these through otherwise they will come out grainy...
