  1. This is their gluten statement from their FAQ's: How do I get information about allergens, such as gluten and nuts, in Starbucks® products? Because of the importance of accuracy on this issue, it is our policy to deal with questions about allergens on a product-by-product basis; please contact us directly with any specific allergen questions.
  2. If you have a Wal-mart nearby, the GV brand is gluten free. I personally use the GV brand no-salt tomato sauce and then add garlic, basil, oregano, and onion. I think it's much tastier this way.
  3. This is so gross, but the things I miss most are fast food items. I miss Long John Silver's hush puppies in all their greasy goodness. I miss Big Mac's. I miss real chicken fingers and onion rings. Ugh... I miss beer battered fish.
  4. It was in Elkton, MD at State Line Liquor. Go to your local Outback and ask to speak to the manager in charge of ordering. Ask him/her to please begin carrying Bard's Tale (that is apparently the easiest to get) and explain why with their whole gluten free menu and what not. We asked and within a week we were able to go in and sit at a table and drink...
  5. Perhaps the reason your friend doesn't want to talk about it is because of the horrible symptoms that can accompany this disease. Saying "I have Celiac" is sort of the same as saying "I have smelly, fatty, floating diarrhea if I eat the wrong thing" or "If I eat gluten I pass gas that could knock people out in the next county" or "Gluten makes me turn into...
  6. Jess, I am so sorry to hear about your puppy. I know how devastated you must be. Please know that you can always lean on us for anything. How's the work situation coming along?
  7. I wouldn't take it. Even if she doesn't get a reaction from it, the low levels of gluten may add up and cause damage (if they don't just cause the damage immediately). I would definitely steer clear.
  8. This is sort of off topic, but it's sort of related too... I thought maybe someone would know... The Lays Stax Hidden Valley Ranch flavor are listed as naturally gluten free on the canister. Anyone have any insight since all HV ranches are listed as NOT gluten free?

    ARCHIVED Outback...

Ah... We made that mistake with Tori once. Never again! However, I have to admit, the chocolate thunder is worth the hyperactivity. He he he.
  10. My balance has improved quite a bit. I can fire up and down the bleachers at the racetrack without a problem now. I don't get cold as easily, especially in my extremities. I see much better at night. My ADD is significantly improved. In general, my taste has improved. I used to think everything lacked flavor. Now I am able to appreciate more subtle flavors...

    ARCHIVED Outback...

Oooohhhh... Glad you had such a great experience (minus the bread incident). That's become one of my all-time favorite restaurants over the past year. Yum. Did you have the chocolate thunder?
  12. Thanks, but Pittsburgh is over 4 hours from where I live. We're in the very South Eastern tip of PA, practically in NJ and DE. Luckily we found a way to get the cases without driving two hours. A friend lives right near a liquor store that carries them.
  13. That's interesting. Not that I would ever eat "real" bread again, but sourdough used to be the only bread that I could stomach, even before my major symptoms set in.

    ARCHIVED Red Robin

I know Judy and others have posted their experiences with this Red Robin, but I just had to share mine. I have never been to a restaurant that went so out of their way to make sure that my food was safe. Not only did the manager (Dave) come out to our table and go over the entire menu with us, but he really knew his stuff. He even double checked on everything...
  15. Mmmmmm.... Apple pie.... It sounds fabulous!
  16. Uh. I told my husband about this and he said "hmmm... I guess I'll have to go there and try one." YUCK!!! He was serious!!!
  17. Kris, you can still have cheese fries, just make them yourself at home. If you're in the US, you can use Ore-Ida fast food fries, Kraft shredded cheddar cheese, Hormel black label bacon, chopped green onions, and Kraft brand ranch dressing on the side. You can also add chili, I know there are a few safe canned brands. It may not be as simple as going out...
  18. YEA!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy you didn't get sick. I know you're super sensitive. Now, does anyone know if they sell them nationally??? It sure would be great if they did, for the other sensitive celiacs.
  19. Well, jersey, what's the verdict on those chips???

    ARCHIVED "the Trigger"

I fell ill shortly after my daughter was born. She was born through c-section, two weeks late. She fell ill shortly after birth. When she got sick, I got sick too.
  21. I agree with the others, you definitely need to have this type of behavior taken care of. It's just not fair that they did something like that to you, even if you wouldn't have gotten sick. As for the gluten thing, I don't think you're being paranoid at all. I would ask her directly if they've ever done anything like that w/ gluten and explain how very serious...
  22. rice crackers and cheese rice crisp treats made with trix (check label) fruit wedges/veggie wedges w/ or w/o dip "popcorn balls" made with puffed corn instead of popcorn mini muffins (I have a great recipe, PM if you want it) pinwheels - lunchmeat spread with cream cheese and rolled up (YUM!) gluten free mini pancakes (just add a little extra sugar...

    ARCHIVED Outback...

Don't worry about your food. Chances are you won't have to send anything back. Just read the ordering directions carefully in the menu and you'll be fine. We go there quite frequently and we've never had to send anything back other than a salad or a drink mug. I don't get salads anymore there now that the blue cheese dressing isn't considered gluten free...
  24. That's okay... No one can ever spell or pronounce our name right. It's Guhl, like a halloween gouhl (sp?). My friends call me Guhlia because of Julia Guhlia from that Adam Sandler movie. It's almost at your two hour mark. I hope you're still feeling well. Did Bob happen to mention if the pretzels are made in the other facility? I know you mentioned rolls...
  25. Jess, that is truely HORRIBLE. I would be so upset with your so-called "friend". That's just disrespectful and rude, not to mention unhealthy. I'm so sorry this happened to you. Hope you feel better soon!
