  1. I have the same problem with cystic acne. I've discovered recently that if I completely eliminate all traces of soy, my skin completely clears up. It's amazing.
  2. Not to confuse the issue, but some companies, such as Arrowhead Mills, will put a "wheat-free" label on the box even if the product does not contain any gluten ingredients. They chose the wheat-free label over the gluten-free label because that particular batch was not tested for gluten.
  3. I think it would...
  4. The thing is, you need to be gluten-free for much longer than a week before you can really know what's going on. Maybe you should try it for a month, and then eat lots of gluten again, and see what happens...
  5. I love them too! Never had a problem. I've also never seen the wheat warning though.
  6. I've had good luck with Amy's too. I don't like the soups all that much (I think they're too oniony). I do really like the Indian Vegetable Korma.
  7. Was it someone on here who said we all only have a 50% chance of correctly interpreting the tone of a post or email? It's funny because I read that post in a completely different way. Anyway, I hope you find your answer Armetta. You might be amazed at what happens if you completely cut out the dairy. From my experience the difference between a teeny tiny...
  8. Are you saying you do eat dairy once or twice a month? That might make you react more strongly to the corn, even if the dairy allergy isn't too severe. Sounds strange, but that's what happens to me. I tried reintroducing small amounts of dairy a while back and it made me react to everything. If I eat small amounts of soy, (which I'm also allergic to)...
  9. You are making progress whether you realize it or not. It takes some people months to improve on a gluten-free diet....and it can take even longer than that to receive a diagnosis of whatever is wrong. Just try to be patient until you receive your parasite test results. That might tell you something. Doctor's hardly ever give us a definitive answer right...
  10. I am currently eating one of the new Maya bars by Larabar. It's good. I got the chocolate mint flavor. I think I still prefer Clif Nectar, but these seem to be a little more filling for some reason. I have absolutely no ounce of hunger left after eating this. It's nice to have more options too.
  11. I used to LOVE bread. I could eat bread for every meal and be happy with just that. Now it grosses me out. The bread isle in the store makes me nauseous. I don't miss it at all.
  12. I was always about 5-10 pounds overweight and bloated before going gluten-free. My face always looked really puffy. That went away when I changed my diet. I don't know if I have celiac or just gluten intolerance though. I do have those ridges on my nails. I didn't know that wasn't normal....

    ARCHIVED Allergies

I guess that was just sort of a broad generalization that I shouldn't have made. I suffered a lot as a kid from allergies and I could never find an allergist willing to help me or acknowledge that food could have been my problem. One accused me of being on drugs when I was 12 because my nose was so messed up. It's strange that when I eliminated milk that...
  14. I betcha there's some sort of meat counter in your area where you can find safe meat....
  15. LOL it's okay a lot of us are postaholics. Does the company have an 800 number you can call? It's probably safe, but is there a meat counter at a grocery or health food store where you can buy just plain all natural meat?

    ARCHIVED Oooppss!

It's okay to mess up once in a while, especially when you're new to the whole gluten-free thing. You shouldn't deprive yourself of tasty food though. Just be sure to make lots of healthier gluten-free versions of pizza, cookies, cake etc. etc. and indulge every once in a while. You should try Chebe pizza crust. www.chebe.com. It's awesome.
  17. There's some funky stuff in that seasoning packet. I never feel good when I eat those. I'm also soy intolerant/allergic, but I think it's more a matter of some sort of weird hydrolized something or other that just doesn't agree with many people.
  18. What does everyone order at Baja Fresh?
  19. Does anyone know? Would I just go to an allergest? I don't trust allergists all that much when it comes to food. Is there some sort of Enterolab equivalent that I would just order? Is there a way to get tested even if I am not eating the allergens? I know I'm gluten intolerant, but when I eat dairy or soy my throat swells and it's difficult to breathe...
  20. They're not my favorite of all the gluten-free bars, but I do kinda like the Apple Pie flavor.
  21. I just had another idea: Do the parents sign up to bring snacks in advance? Maybe they could pass around a sign up sheet at the next game with their name and the snack they are planning to bring. That way you could bring something similiar for your son. Of course there's always a chance they will end up bringing something else, but it will give you...
  22. You could provide a list of acceptable mainstream snacks that would be easy for the other parents to find. If gluten is the only problem it's less restrictive that you think. You'd just have to hope the other parents would be courteous enough to get something from the list. Or you could talk to your son before the game and arrange a special snack...
  23. I see you're allergic to some beans, but can you do cans of garbanzo or kindey beans? You can put beans on salads for added protein. You'll have a fridge right? Can you do gluten-free lunch meat on corn thins or corn tortillas? Or does it have to be vegan? Rice crackers with hummus? All sorts of veggies and fruits with peanut and almond butter. Nuts...
  24. I don't think any restaurant can gaurentee food without trace amounts of gluten, but they can try to do the best they can to accomodate you. They're probably just trying to cover their own a**es by saying they won't gaurentee that for you. Can you eat eggs? I think hard boiled eggs (unpeeled) are a safe breakfast choice at restaurants. You can order a...
  25. Good luck! My thing is on thursday too. It's looking to be a little less horrible. We're going here: Open Original Shared Link It's nice place with some organic food, so hopefully I won't get sick. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to eat off of the lunch menu, so if anyone has any suggestions in terms of what sounds the most safe I'd...
