    Whew! Glad your doctor is aware. The thing is, there are over 300 symptoms for celiac disease, but some of those symptoms could be for illnesses other than celiac. Many symptoms can overlap too--in other words, a person can be having acid reflux from an untreated ulcer but the symptoms can mask a heart attack, or someone can be having a heart attack...

    Zach, I agree with Cyclinglady about other food intolerance, especially with processed food. There are many types of food intolerance, so I suggest adding in less processed and more whole foods until you figure out what your intolerance is.

    But, have you spoken to your doctor about these symptoms? It's not a good idea to allow them to go unchecked.

    Unfortunately, there are people who don't take other people's heath problems very seriously, even when people are diagnosed with celiac. That said, there is nothing you need to prove to anybody.     Hi Queeno, welcome! If you do a search on gluten challenge you will find plenty. If you truly believe you might have celiac disease, then I'd say a gluten challenge is worth it because your health is important. I suspect I have a problem with gluten, so I went through with the endoscopy. He did numerous biopsies and tested for celiac as well...

    Do you mean their bloodnwork has confirmed these children are celiac? And the parents won't feed them gluten free? That is scary.

    Welcome, Janis. If your doctor has advised your daughter get the biopsies I would follow through. Celiac is a serious auto-immune disease and eating gluten advances the disease. It's better you know what is up with your daughter's health rather than second guessing, because then you will know what the next step is.

    Waiting is the hard part, but I do know that the endoscopy biopsy is the gold standard for celiac diagnosis so hopefully I will get some answers. I already know that I am sensitive to wheat and/or gluten by my own experimentation, so I have to make dietary changes no matter what the diagnosis is. When did you have your blood tests done?     @cyclinglady, thank you! hope I get the results back sooner as well. I was glad that the GERD has not damaged my insides. However, I was sick for several hours after the procedure, which I suspect was partially from the sedative (I was out like a light) and the biopsies. Better today though! I will update when I get the biopsies back.

I am glad to say that the doctor did not see any damage from from the horrible acid reflux, and my stomach and duodenum look normal.     Thank you, @KJDx, it actually went okay. The GI doctor did not see any ulceration or erosion in my esophagus, and my stomach and duodenum looked normal. However, he took numerous biopsies and for numerous conditions, including celiac and h-pylori. I will get the results of the biopsies in about three weeks.     Have you shared this with your doctor and asked for a referral to a GI doctor? If gluten affects you as you indicate, you need to be tested for celiac. Keep in mind, however, that you have to eat gluten for a certain amount of time prior to testing.

    Hi Midna, welcome. You should not have to live with the symptoms you describe. Did the doctor do a full blood panel, including checking your vitamin levels and also look for other diseases that could be causing your symptoms? Were you eating gluten prior to the tests? If not, you can get false negatives. Did they do blood tests for the celiac disease...

    Thank you so much, @KJDx,endoscopy is at 1:45 p.m., so at least I got breakfast and can drink water up until 10:45 this morning. Going to the gym soon for some weight lifting and trying to find ways to pass the time.....without food and water.

    I didn't realize we can do status updates. I have m endoscopy this Friday, my stomach hurts and I feel like crap, and I've been eating lots of gluten like I am supposed to be doing.  Can't wait to get this test done.  I wish it was in the morning and not at 1:45 p.m.  Ugh!

    If you truly want to find out if you are celiac, you have to have blood tests and/or an endoscope which, as you guessee it, means a needle in your arm and/or a camera down your throat, and you do have anesthesia with the endoscope.
