  1. You are correct, those are the tests that Kaiser run. The new doctor recommended a colonoscopy to check for IBD, but she did not recommend an endoscope. I, after all, do have the classic symptoms of IBD (as she said). The PCP said the Kaiser test is what they run too, and if the numbers are not within the normal range they do the endoscope. Believe...
  2. My appointment was this morning. The doctor looked at my results from Kaiser and said the correct tests were taken and I am negative for celiac, but that a biopsy of the intestine would be next. She said that many people are gluten sensitive and agreed with my last doctor that I should gut gluten if I feel better without it. She said I have "a little...
  3. Cycling lady, thanks so much! Counting down the days until Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.
  4. Thank you, guys. I will let you know how it goes sometime after 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
  5. Thank you, @squirmingitch. As luck would have it I got my appointment moved to July 5. Thank God!
  6. Update: I am about at my wit's end. I won't be able to see my new doctor until July 17 to get a referral to a GI doctor, so I continue to eat gluten and the effects continue to worsen. Today my boss, whom I have been working with for 12 years, and I had a meeting where he said he's noticed a change in many things, such as speech, not articulating well...
  7. Heather, I don't have any experience to share, but I would love to read the article when it comes out. What magazine will it be in? Will you let us know when it comes out?

  10. It's important to continuing consuming gluten until all testing is complete, including the endoscope, because, otherwise, your tests will not be accurate.
  11. I was really sick for about a day after my endoscope-vomiting, aching all over, just feeling horrible. For me, it was the sedative because the same thing happened after my colonoscopy a few years back. They gave me hardly any, but apparently I am very sensitive to it.. It could be coincidence that your having this problem right now just after the endoscope...
  12. Alison sounded like she was a wonderful person. May she rest in peace.
  13. Unfortunately, you can't get rid of stretch marks. They are hereditary.
  14. Welcome, Michael! I am sorry you are not feeling well, but I'm glad you are being tested for celiac. Now is not the time to go gluten free. Very important: continue to eat gluten until all testing is done because, otherwise, your test will not be accurate.
  15. I am not sure where you get your information from regarding nightshades, but I don't think that is accurate--they are just vegetables, and some people may react to that particular class. While it may be true for you that you reacted to the potatoes, there are ingredients other than the potatoes that people can react to.
  16. @sella, have you thought of changing doctors? I would if I'd had those experiences that you describe. In fact, I just changed both my insurance company and doctor because I got tired of being blown off, and my experiences were not as blatant as yours.
  17. Welcome, @Ntf2001. Has your doctor tested for DH? A positive is an automatic celiac diagnosis. By the way, they test the skin adjacent to the sores not the sores themselves. I would tell the doctor you also want to find out if your rash is DH (remember to tell him that the skin adjacent to the lesions are biopsied, not the lesion themselves). ...
  18. Welcome, @Dylan C. I am sorry you are not feeling well. There are over 300 symptoms of celiac, but with what you describe I'm surprised you have not been tested for that or chrons, especially as a child. When you go to the new doctor, be proactive and specifically tell them you want a referral to a GI and that you want to be tested for celiac and chrons...
  19. Celiac disease can be silent and not cause any symptoms....but, rest assured, your gut is still being damaged. If you have celiac, you are doing yourself a great disservice "cheating".
  20. Welcome, @MBrooks985! This thread is pretty old, with only one person still posting regularly. This is from their website, and a long list of gluten free products are listed. If you have celiac, I would pay attention to the bold statement, especially if there is a chance you might ingest some makeup by accident: Open Original...
  21. Janis, thanks for the update! I'm glad you went through with the endoscope and have family support. ?
  22. I have requested my entire medical file, which I will pick up on Monday. Once I get my new doctor and make an appointment (June 1 is start date for medical), I will have hard copies of my entire file sent over to him/her. I will then get a referral to the GI I have been researching, who is listed as a PCP (that is a mistake) and very knowledgeable about...
  23. Excellent idea. That I will pursue.
  24. Today I indeed found out my old doctor is not educated in celiac because she emailed me and told me my test results came back negative, bu if a gluten free diet makes me feel better then I should pursue it. Since I have changed insurance and will be getting a new PCP next month, I have decided not to respond. But, if I did choose to respond, I would say...
  25. The Anti-ttg is not the full story, and if one comes up negative, as it can happen, what's next? The full celiac blood panel is what needs to be done.
