  1. Hi Clay, To me, your symptoms sound pretty classic to celiac. You have done a test and can now relate your symptoms to diet, or at least the beer which has barley (except I guess the gluten free beer does not). Are you eating other gluten daily in your diet--wheat, which will be in bread, tortillas, crackers, many types of chips, as well as other...
  2. Hi, Axiom, Welcome! Please do not eliminate gluten until all your testing for celiac is complete. In order for the results to be accurate, you need to be eating gluten. Hang in there while they figure out what is going on with your body.
  3. Bartfull, I am fairly new here, but I am at a loss for words. You are an incredibly brave person. I send love, light, and many hugs your way.
  4. I have a phone appointment with my PCP on Friday so we can talk about what is going on with my body. The endoscope biopsy did not show any damage to my small intestine, which should be great except the biopsy report says one biopsy was taken of my esophagus, another of my stomach, and another of my small intestine. That's not enough to tell anything.

  5. This absolutely blows me away. Some people are diagnosed with celiac who show no outward signs. I suggest looking into getting another doctor.
  6. Do you have a advocate from the group home staff, or a family member or friend who can help advocate for you? I would start keeping your food diary for sure, if that is what it takes to get further medical consultation.
  7. It's a good idea to keep a food diary and track how you feel after eating certain foods. I use the Sparkpeople tacking app, and used to use My Fitness Pal, but neither have an option to include notes with the foods you eat to track symptoms. However, your doctor not believing you means that he's already closed his mind to looking into why you feel badly...
  8. I received a letter today with my results. I have benign inflammation of the stomach and esophagus and mild chronic gastritis. I guess my intestines are normal: small intestine mucosa with no pathologic diagnosis. All I know is not eating wheat/gluten these last few weeks has helped to calm my stomach and acid reflux and I feel much better. I...
  9. But, he interpret the test results with you? Since he told you to avoid gluten, does he believe you have celiac? Did he do several biopsies for celiac when he did the endoscope, as well as biopsy for other possible causes of your stomach upset? Personally, I think you should talk more with your doctor.
  10. @JKS1221, I am so sorry that your family is not supportive. I personally could not live in that kind of situation.
  11. @MelliF, thank you for sharing this. Considering how horrible you feel on gluten, and how much better you felt not eating it, could your tests have been a false negative? I am waiting for the results of my endoscope, but when I spoke to the GI doctor he said that gluten sensitivity has become an accepted diagnosis. If you are not celiac you seem very...
  12. Vega is an excellent protein drink. It's gluten, soy, and dairy free, and it tastes great! It should only be used when you are not getting enough protein, not as a replacement for food. However, I agree with @cyclinglady that right now it's more important to get better, so learning how to cook some whole foods might be a good idea. I cook for several...
  13. Prakash, Did your doctor give you any interpretation of these results?
  14. Angie, Welcome. Have you been to the doctor?
  15. I tend to agree with the two previous posters. The environmental allergist said you are sensitive to gluten. Have you been tested for celiac? Now, according to the second blood test, you are no longer sensitive to any of those foods? Something is very wrong here. If you've eliminated those foods, why not try them one at a time on different...
  16. Do you have other medical issues to where you have to be restrictive? Eating gluten free is pretty restrictive anyway, but you don't seem to have much variety in your diet. For example, there a lot of carbs that don't have gluten: rice, quinoa, potatoes, and a whole lot of carbs that are gluten free. This is what I think: if you are not eating...
  17. If eating gluten free makes you feel better, then it's important. It is our family's business to the point where they need to respect our decision and be supportive in that way. However, the bottom line is that you feel better eating a certain way. That's absolute gold because it works for you. At this juncture, I am waiting to hear back from the GI...
  18. @pag794, have you thought of getting counseling? Maybe ask your husband to go with you? Only testing can determine if you are celiac. You need to go back to the GI. Oh, also--since your testing showed a sensitivity to wheat, have you tried eliminating all wheat only? I have a friend who is sensitive to wheat only but can eat barley and rye and other...
  19. Made some great gluten free bread tonight....so glad it's a success because....well...I love bread.

  20. Pamela's Gluten Free Bread Mix, which I've made twice in my bread maker. First time it was okay, this time....though....excellent. I added some chia seed and flax seed, and used slightly less water. Even my guy likes it, which speaks volumes to me.
  21. This is horrid advice.
  22. I don't think there is an actual test for gluten sensitivity, that you are actually tested for celiac. Is that tomorrow? You need to be under the care of a GI, so I suggest letting your primary care physician know this.
  23. Kayla, Welcome. I too am a glad you have found the answer to your migraines. Have you told your doctor this? If you truly believe you have celiac disease, I urge you to call your doctor and ask for a referral to a GI. It is true that you have to be eating gluten to for the blood and endoscopy tests, but you need to bring all you have shared...
  24. Any plain beans, such as pinto and black beans, I have bought just have beans and salt in them, no other products. On Facebook, Blue Runner Beans answered regarding whether their beans are gluten free I won't face the Facebook link because I'm not sure that is okay here, but it's easy to find.
  25. Worrying can cause an upset stomach too. Have you spoken with your doctor about possible celiac disease testing? I ask because if you are celiac, eating in a home where cross contamination in the norm is dangerous to your health. If you have a gluten sensitivity and not celiac, or a wheat only sensitivity, you might feel bad after cross contamination...
