ARCHIVED Endoscopy Results
chrissy replied to lawstudent's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
it was probably esophagitis he saw, not gastritis (that's the stomach) untreated reflux can lead to some pretty nasty stuff, including esophageal cancer. one of my twins did not know she had reflux until she had a scope---no obvious symptoms. she tried to go off the meds after awhile and then she had symptoms. -

ARCHIVED Why Is This So Unknown?
chrissy replied to Curious121's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
i only know of one other child in town that has celiac, besides my 3 girls. i asked our doc one day how many celiac patients he had besides my girls and the other little boy. he thought for a few seconds, and said they were his only patients with celiac. my girls were diagnosed because i did some detective work. the other little boy was diagnosed because... -

i think you could drive yourself nuts worrying about every possible thing that people "might" have contaminated with gluten.some obsessive compulsive people become so worried about contracting germs that they will wear gloves constantly. you don't want to become like that.

nails can indicate so many things about our health. i have the ridges also and i do not have celiac. i also have a fingernail that curves over the end of my nail. i havae atopic dermatitis and when it is really bad on my fingers it can affect how the nails on those fingers grow----sometimes they get all bumpy looking. my son gets one that gets almost...

ARCHIVED Parents Begging Not To Do Biopsy On Dd
chrissy replied to LauraW's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
laura---this is totally opposite from what i posted to you before----but i found something on the internet yesterday that agreed with what your doctor said about your daughter possibly being celiac even though she was only basing it on the antigliadin test. i tried to find it again so i could post it for you-----but i couldn't!! i'm sorry. it mentioned... -
ARCHIVED *********help, I Need A Hive Expert**********
chrissy replied to azmom3's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
i think it is possible to be allergic to anything. quite a few years back i developed hives one night for no apparent reason. i could write with my nail on my skin and it would welt up---any scratch would do the same thing. i was given an allergy med that did not help, so quit taking it. i was told i was having a histamine reaction. after about 6 weeks... -

ARCHIVED Parents Begging Not To Do Biopsy On Dd
chrissy replied to LauraW's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
i don't see those tests as being positive for celiac. did your doctor say that they were a positive test for celiac? i can understand people being wary of those test results-----however, it is not their call, it is yours. a gluten free diet is not going to hurt anything, and it may help many things. if you want a definite diagnosis, though, to keep people... -
ARCHIVED Parents Begging Not To Do Biopsy On Dd
chrissy replied to LauraW's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
if you want to have a biopsy done, you need to be eating gluten. is the antigliadin test the only test that was run on your daughter? antigliadin can be raised by things other than celiac. the TTG test is the test that will tell you if there is an autoimmune reaction. -
ARCHIVED I Feel Like A Hypochondriac!
chrissy replied to azmom3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
some years back a new family moved in. when i met the woman she said, "oh, you're the family with all the medical problems." one year we had six surgeries and a baby----three of the surgeries were on the same day. -
ARCHIVED Does This Contain Gluten?
chrissy replied to breann6's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
maltodextrin is gluten free. -
think your doctor may have mentioned diabetes insipidus. It actually has nothing in common with diabetes mellitus, except the excessive thirst. It is a problem in the kidneys where they make you pee a lot regardless of how much water you drink. just to clarify (or confuse?) diabetes insipidus is a pituitary problem, not a kidney problem---although...

ARCHIVED My Enterolab Results
chrissy replied to Kody's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
is antigliadin the only thing you had tested? whether or not you are having an autoimmune reaction is tested with the TTg test. antigliadin can be raised by conditions other than celiac. -
just wondering if anyone has any new info on dr. fassano's research. someone on here posted a while back that the first patient dosing had been started with the zonulin antagonist. i would really like to follow this research, but i am not sure where to look for information.

ARCHIVED Dr. Thinks It Might Be Eosinophillic Esophagitis, Not Celiac
chrissy replied to azmom3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
i have known someone who's child had an esosinophilic disorder and last i knew he was neocat-only at 2 years of age. i have a friend who suspected this in her child, but it turned out to be FPIES instead. this is really weird----i just posted about this very thing on another thread to someone else. if you are interested, i can get you in touch with my... -

you can buy gluten free oats from several sources. i bought them for my girls and they don't have any problems with them. they are a bit pricey, but for me they are worth it. are you seeing a GI? -
ARCHIVED Why Can't We Get Rid Of Autoimmune Diseases?
chrissy posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
if something happens to "turn on" celiac disease and other autoimmune diseases------why can't we turn them back off? it just seems that if our bodies are so good (ideally) at healing themselves we should be able to heal from an autoimmune disease. i know that MS can go into remission because my grandfather had it and his went into remission. lupus can also... -
ARCHIVED Can Someone Please Help?!
chrissy replied to concerned-mom061's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
bree----have you ever heard of eosinophilic disorders? there is another condition called FPIES. your baby sounds like she could possibly have one of these conditions. in a nutshell, they are pretty much allergic to all food. one of the conditions can be outgrown. if you would like to know more about this, i can get you in touch with a friend of mine...
