  1. my daughter was hospitalized for 3 months recently. i suspected her diet was not gluten free and asked that a TTg be run. her levels were over 100. they had only been 12 when she went into the hospital. we were at a different hospital in boise idaho for the first 2 weeks, and they did an excellent job with her diet---it was the last 2 1/2 months at children...
  2. did you get my PM?
  3. i've made homemade yogurt. i know of a really good recipe----i'll try and find it and get back to you.
  4. so are your kids diagnosed with the gluten intolerant gene, but not the celiac gene? is there something different about the gluten intolerant gene as compared to the celiac genes? you can have the celiac gene but not have celiac. am i understanding that if you have the gluten intolerant gene you are automatically gluten intolerant-----it doesn't need to...
  5. i've had a ton of floaters since i was in my 20's----a friend of mine with them compared them to "looking through chicken noodle soup". my understanding was that they are just cells that have sloughed off---just like they do everywhere else in our body, and that they will eventually break down---of course if you continually get new ones, you would never...
  6. tianna is doing ok. she has lost 3 1/2 lbs. but they told us that they expected her to backslide some. we still need to get a far better routine established----but we keep making trips out of town for her appoitments. i have talked to the high school about what needs to be done. later my sister told me there is a medical 504 lawa that she should fall...
  7. we use gluten-free oats floridanative is referring to. my girls do not seem to have a problem with them.
  8. we run the Ttg test on our kids. our doc is willing to just call the test order in to the lab if we want so that we don't have to drive the long distance to his office.
  9. i did PM you with my address----i'll do it again just in case.
  10. is there maybe a newspaper article somewhere that could verify this story, or is this something that would not be on public record?
  11. i finally got the results of the Ttg test i asked the hospital to run on tianna while she was in-patient. her levels were over 100. i asked the reference range of the test-----30 was considered moderate to high----wanted to make sure i wasn't misunderstanding something. her levels were almost back to normal before she went to the IPU. i have a hard time...
  12. a cookbook slut??!!!! LOL!!!LOL!!! i'd love your list.
  13. i just answered on your other post----and then read this one. my daughter's name is molly, too!!!
  14. kim----i have an 11 yr old daughter with celiac. my girls have been gluten free since the start of the new year. molly (the 10 yr old) has handled the diagnosis very well and is the only one of my 3 girls to get her blood tests back to normal so far. i'm sure she would love to e-mail your daughter.
  15. my daughter is leaving on a mission in less than 2 weeks----she does not have celiac, but i did have her screened not too long ago so we would know before she left. how do you all handle the sacrament? we have one other lady in our ward with celiac, but she just didn't take the bread. after our 3 girls were diagnosed, she decided it would be easier now...
  16. my daughter still makes recipes from the taste of home magazine---she just converts them herself.
  17. my son is IgA deficient and we had to go through promethius to test him for celiac.
  18. like tavi, i am wondering what the actual charges were? i don't think that lying is grounds for removing children from a home.
  19. we use them with no problem.
  20. ou are in kind of a tough spot if your daughter has to visit the other side of the family often. i hope you are able to work this all out.
  21. my skin has been just like yours-------i have atopic dermatitis. i used to have rashes from my wrists all the way to a few inches above my elbows as a child. my hands almost always have a rash somewhere on them. mine is always worse in the winter when the air is dry. my knuckles used to split all the way across. i have had this for so long that i usually...
  22. i was hoping my twins' reflux would go away when they went gluten free, too, but it didn't. kassie's reflux is pretty bad. we didn't even know tianna had reflux until her scope because she didn't have any symptoms. i'm not sure how we will tell if her's has improved or not. is he gluten free now? i guess if they feel it is not related to celiac they...
  23. sounds like he probably never outgrew his reflux. was he on meds as a baby? have they recommended he be on a PPI now? sylvia had a fundoplication when she was 10 months old. my twins are both on prevacid.
  24. we brought tianna home on thursday. she looks so good. i guess i didn't realize how thin and sick she had looked before. we still haven't worked out the bedroom arrangements----we don't have enough bedrooms, so elliot may be in a cubby-hole, of sorts-----fortunately, he thinks this is great and is pretty excited about it. i need a little more of his eight...
